That's the bare minimum, yes. Limited subset of styleable content / tags would be better though.

Waaay to complicated. Bear in mind were talking about a message board with a high amount of activity, defined character limit per post, which structurally would have to have style tags or even rudimentary css stored within the post information. That's going to be a database headache calling all of that 10's of thousand times over and over. Alt tags will just give you the text you would have written anyway but can either display it as a picture or text. That was you don't need to link to a text only version of your OT, you're not giving a complicate set of tools, even if only at a basic level, that more than likely will be a formatting and rendering disaster putting it in the users hands.

As I can't play DiRT Rally, I bought Colin McRae Rally *smug face*

on more serious note, I've read steam reviews and negative ones plain suck, they aren't talking about why they gave a game negative review only "bleh, mobile port! kill it with fire", while positive reviews are actually explaining why a game is any good.
Seriously, what's with steam community and hate waves? that's not much better than FF0 30fps outrage have been. Why people even waste their time on mobile ports or writing reviews if they hate even an idea of it? Even more funny that they keep buying them when they hate those ports so much.

That's why you buy into the JaseC method of +1ing.

User reviews just suck for the most part.

hey! my reviews are good!

Reviews for RPG Maker games are worthless for the same reason.
Positive ones are usually shills who got the game for free.
Negative ones don't say if the game is good, just 'RPG Maker' sucks.
FFS, we need a good curator for RPG Maker titles.

That GW2 OT really is a work of art. Probably took upwards of 10 hours to compile (perhaps less if the creator is very skilled).

I know it took quite a bit of work to make my original Vanilla D3 OT, and even then I couldn't keep up with updates to the game after a certain point. I did some custom graphics, but not to the extent that is in the GW2 one.

After you play it, drop a note here, if possible. I thought the same of the reviews for that title as yourself - too unspecific.

It's probably not that easy to curate RPG Maker games, considering how many of them are now and many are long, even very long. You could end up playing only RPG Maker games or something.

edited: I'm swayed bit by bit to choosing Borderlands VN after all. You guys praise it so much.

Like I said, alt texts only solve one problem. There are others too, like images being shit on mobile, images being bandwidth heavy (which is not a problem for me, but it is problem to some. For reference, the pictures in the OT weight 75% of the whole 100 reply thread (~ 5 megs) and not solving the searchability issue without killing the images.

User styleable OT's might be a reach, but considering the effort put into them it might just be worthwhile.

Better yet, just put the text there and link to some images if you want to.

But you're not solving any of those issue by letting users define their own styles only creating a whole host more and some that are incredibly detrimental to how a page will load and/or render if at all. If you allow alt text you've only added one variable and with a bit of simple site wide css you could allow the end user to disable images but still have the text render on the page. That my friend solves all the issues you mentioned and wont case the site to invariably fuck up. Might not look pretty but considering how css properties are handled from browser to browser a user styled OT is going to break from one to the next regardless, even for those with years of design experience.

Alt texts are not meant to be word-for-word replacements for images containing texts, but they should contain text that describes the image itself. If we are talking about accessibility, text doesn't belong to rasterized images, period.

If the solution is to put all that information to the alt tags, you are not only absuing the alt tags but rendering pretty much non-readable situation to all parties that don't want to see the images but get the information instead, which ends up right where we were.

You're not abusing it if the image itself is text. You are actually doing the job of what it's for but the image is abusing what should be text. You could argue that you shouldn't use a massive amount of characters in alt tags but we're not talking about SEO here, were talking about make an OT readable for those who don't want to have a massive amount of pictures displayed and this gracefully solves the issue.

What you're suggesting side skirts the problem you've stated and still delivers very little of the power, flexibly and use of text you can acheive with programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, christ even animated gis headers are going to be redundant. As I've said your solution isn't one to the problems you're bringing up. You could impose limits for file sizes and quantity which would go some way to making things more accessible. All text to be within the post and only banner images to act as styling. Hard set's of rules and best practices for OTs is way better than letting people have control over how to style html.

And how do you propose this is excluded for regular posts? There's a bloody good reason animated avatars and signatures are banned here. Can you imagine the eyesore this site would become if every post could be styled as the user chose?

I really need valve to get their shit together and do something about their servers fast, I need to prepare for winter sale fgs, and I can't trade or do anything community related for months now. Not to mention that when I can access my inventory or trades (not that often) it takes unreasonably long time to load. I wish we knew what's going on.

After you play it, drop a note here, if possible. I thought the same of the reviews for that title as yourself - too unspecific.

Do iiiit.
(It's really, really good)

will do

edited: I find myself really liking Paint it Back endless mode, added incentives as time limits (these aren't really limits, but you get award if you do it in time, the best kind of time limits), no making mistakes awards, no x awards and so on. It's good fun, only when you get one of those huge puzzles, it takes very long to finish.

Steam-GAF's Official Ambassador to Gaming-GAF
BLOPS 3 DLC to include re-imagined maps from World at War & previous Black Ops games

Fan-favourite maps to return next year, Activision confirms.

Activision has revealed the first information on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's Season Pass, confirming that re-imagined versions of multiplayer maps from Call of Duty: World at War and earlier games in the Black Ops series will be released as DLC.

The details were revealed on the Xbox Store, confirming that the Season Pass will deliver "4 epic DLC map packs in 2016 with all-new multiplayer content, including re-imagined fan-favorite maps from Call of Duty: World at War and the Call of Duty: Black Ops series, plus thrilling Treyarch Zombies content, all for one great price."

As well as new multiplayer maps, the Season Pass will also offer day one access to a bonus Zombies map called 'The Giant'.

"Set in a World War II-era research facility featuring the weapon-upgrading Pack-a-Punch Machine, re-live the chaos of Treyarch's classic "Der Riese" Zombies map, picking up the Zombies story with Dempsey, Nikolai, Richtofen, and Takeo where Origins left off."

The Season Pass will not be available on Xbox 360, however, suggesting that the DLC may not be coming to last-gen platforms. VideoGamer.com has contacted Activision for further clarification.

The Season Pass is currently available to pre-order on Steam for £34.99. Expect console versions to cost the same.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 launches on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC on November 6.

JaseC

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
Figured I'd play through BioInf's DLC since I still have the game installed only to encounter this bug, which was evidently never patched. Gotta love big publishers and how they're happy to support their products post-launch. Indie devs could learn a thing or two!

I'm installing Tales from the Borderlands.

One of the "best" game of the year, just pure fun. I completed it yesterday and it was really a surprise. I don't know how much Gearbox contributed to the game, but really it's the best TT thing from Sam & Max games.

Also I can't wait to check steam community hub this evening for AC Syndacate, I hope monsters are in :D

I stopped playing Dishonored DLCs because there is still bug that can cause enemies to re spawn if you knock down all enemies in one room. Nothing big until you realize that one enemy spawns as dead and you only can see this on end mission screen. Tnx Arkane.

Almost saturday, going to play zestiria a lot, game still has a good sense of adventure like vesperia, so I'm enjoying it so far although it starts off a bit slow, the visuals are growing on me, I think it looks nice, but wish they'd make some minor improvements or just go cel shading, it has a pretty weird style and modeling don't really resemble the art too well (considering all the FMVs are anime style), the Atelier series did a better job at it.

Still need to get used to all the stuff with the upgrading/skill system, not a fan for the equipment fusion system myself.

So played lots of Contradiction yesterday.
I think I'm at 50% and I suspect it isn't
that damn cult(business course)
who is behind it, they are just too suspect.

Really enjoying this, didn't really think that I would dig FMV games.

Saints Row IV, a game from 2013, is easily a contender to be my personal GotY for 2015. It starts off looking like a cynical cash-in of a sequel but by the end of the game you have mind control powers, you shoot energy projectiles, can cause a small nuclear explosion with a flying punch from the sky, you have a gun that fires black holes, and another that causes alien abductions. Saints Row IV is this crass, brilliant mash-up of Crackdown and Enter the Matrix. It's so ludicrous and fun.

Aren't |OT|'s already done in a special section designated to them. There's no reason why the the features couldn't be just restricted to topics that were created in that area.

Apparently according the the devs, that's how the actor was dressed when he showed up for the shoot and the just let him stay in those clothes, fedora included lol.
Hahaha, that's great.
