Call of Duty: Black Ops III |OT| No Content For Old Gen

Thinking more about it, campaign definitely feels like Treyarch all played Spec Ops: The Line.
Too bad they couldn't pull it off even half as well.

Kinda makes me mad because it has some amazing elements and probably the most potential since 4 or W@W but is completely wasted.
Doubt it gets a sequel either as by the time 4 rolls in the future setting will be beyond played out.

Reading everything on this thread makes me wonder if I still should get this or go with Fallout 4 instead...

Besides the bad impressions due to server issues or general performance, anyone minding sharing the good points?

With all my complaints about the last gen version being a shotty port aside, when it works, it's a fun game. I quite enjoy the challenge progression and the underwater movement is so much fun. Probably on par with Advanced Warfare for me, which I like a lot. So good game, but as everyone knows you're much better off playing it on current gen. My biggest issue so far is zombies once again is even more tailored towards easter egg hunts rather than survival. Moon was the ominous precursor to it, then it was TranZit which, while still viable to play as a map, had it's fair share of nonsense and after three good DLC maps they came out with Origins and made the most convoluted unfun map of the series. SOE might not be much different, but I'm hopeful I can sorta understand how to get into higher rounds.

Curious that people have so many connection issues.

Is that only on console? PC with dedicated servers has been wonderful gaming.

Odd matchmaking pairings for me. Game keeps finding us Japanese lobbies/players whenever we try to find matches in a party of 4+

Games which are then hosted on servers not local to either us or the Japanese players. Which then leads to everyone having a 3 bar connection of around 150ms ping.

Friends had a theory that it was because of me having a Japanese PSN account. But I find Australian and New Zealand lobbies super quick by myself.

Ah man. You guys are killing me. I was planning on doing the Target Double Value to get CoD but idk anymore!

Someone write impressions on everything for me. Campaign, Zombies, and Multiplayer. I want to know if I should get BLOPS 3 with this Target money or wait.

Pilot, your Titan is ready, prepare for Titanbombs
This may have been posted already but concerning the KN-44 assault rifle, it seems the Kill Counter (unlocked at Weapon Prestige 2) bugs the weapon model/aim.
With no scope attached, the aim is no longer aligned with the weapon's sights. Very weird.

Anyone here know of a well written analysis of the comparisons of this game to Titanfall? Preferably from someone who has extensive playtime of TF (Diamond level or G10)

As for someone who loved Black Ops 1's campaign and didn't care for 2's (story telling and pacing I didn't like, setting was fine), will I like 3's? If I am going to be buying Black Ops 3 it would be mainly for the campaign and occasionally zombies so I want to know if its good or not.

Whats the deal with prestiges with this game?

What do you get when you prestige? Is it that permanent unlock thing?
Extra custom slot
Something else?

man, there's no way the campaign is worse than ghosts, right?

I am enjoying it so far, but it's certainly a different beast to what I am used to.
I am only in the third mission though.

So far, Advanced Warfare had better setpieces and "crazy stuff happening atmosphere" but BLOPS3 is...intriguing me because it's presenting some stuff in a way that could lead to a pretty big twist in the end.

MP is the best it's been in a while, though I thought the previous two games were solid.

If you're a fan of the franchise, I don't see why you'd dislike this one, but it is "just another" COD and not the Messiah of the series it was hyped up to be.

Just a drive-by posting here, but Titanfall played way better with the mobility than what was present in the BO3 beta. And I simply don't believe they would've changed it drastically since then.

I'd like to be proven wrong though!

Exact same thoughts I had, I want to see if Titanfall is ready to be challenged yet by the industry or not

Every other FPS just plays so... slow now

The game in multiplayer gives me the same sensation as Titanfall btw.

The freedom of movement is fantastic. It's only marred by some invisible walls that will sometimes fuck you up.

Just did the first mission of the campaign. Couldn't finish it. Cleared the area of all enemies. Went to the marker. Nothing happened. Allies stood still and wouldn't move...
And the switch to 30 fps to every non player controlled cutscene is annoying. I'll just keep playing the mp for now.

Walking on the walls seems more natural an easy to me than in Titanfall.

It's absolutely nothing like TF.

It's CoD with watered down AW movement, or much slower TF movement if you want to look at it that way.

For what it is, it's quite fun, but if you're looking for insane mobility and the madness of titans on the field, this isn't it. The maps are 3 lane 'competitive' affairs with waist high cover conveniently at every corner and very little rugged terrain to deal with.

Man, I wish Titanfall had as much content as BO3. I'd still be playing titanfall.

3 is just a really weird campaign.
One of the best COD stories, horribly executed.
Somehow ends up being more fun than past few CODs, yet missions and playstyles still feels horribly tacked together.
Shouldn't even be called Black Ops really.
Also has probably the dumbest scene in series history.

Even MP and SP feels like its from two different CODs patched together,(custom characters for example from the last 2 COD MPs were carried over to SP finally,
yet MP ditches customs so you can have 2 teams of the exact same character who isn't from SP.)

If you are limited to one game in November, i say go with F4 imo. It's been 7 years, since the last instalment. Ofcourse you must factor, your preferences in the final decision.

It's not.

Not sure why people are so negative on the campaign. Maybe they were expecting a military shooter? Maybe they haven't finished the campaign?
I played the opening two missions online and I thought it was utter garbage. Slow, paint by numbers design, little to pull you in.

An absolutely terrible introduction to a campaign. Most definitely the worst I've played in a COD.

Still going to play the rest, I'm sure it'll get better and more engaging, but the opening is definitely very weak. I imagine that's where the negativity is coming from.

Great sub title on the OT by the way!

For the first time in since MW3 I actually considered buying this briefly. I got a dose of nostalgia. It'll probably pass

Thank you very much, saves me trouble and time, I'll look up some streamers to see how it is for what it is :) Are there much horizontal layers in the game or just a few buildings/terrain here and there that you can shoot down from?

I've yet to see maps done so well that you can actually use terrain and objects everywhere you look in an FPS other than TF (murdering 3 titans while just being a pilot with a bunch of burn cards? It's actually possible)

People are negative on the campaign? Why? I thought it was fantastic. Better than BO2, still not as good as BO1.

Huh? What scene?

Huh? What scene?

Nova-6 return(like a damn easteregg yet kills a decent character in a completely stupid way),
was so bad I honestly thought it was a fake out till the end.
nearly single-handedly ruined the campaign for me.

When I say Treyarch played Spec Ops I mean it,
First mission is basically "hey modern combat is so routine" then after that its basically multiple bootcamps for your upgrades for a bit.

Wow Activision really hates last-gen.
So apparently without any internet connection you can not even run the game with bots/zombies on last gen. Game forcefully asks to download a must have patch before making you able to play.
I don't even play COD, but I work in a video games store and that's a real bummer .
