Nintendo Direct coming November 12 [Over]

I meant sales, actually. Not that it sells poorly, but you'd think it was Nintendo's biggest core-targeted franchise the way the general gaming core reacts to it. Or... maybe it is. :-/

Well yeah, the sales for Zelda have been slipping for awhile. The series needs a shot in the arm and hopefully the next game does that.

Exactly. It would still require resources to move a game from one hardware platform to another. Iwata compared it with the GC and the Wii transition. The purpose of the universal platform is to not start from scratch if the hardware change drastically.

Even for games written with a mature portable gaming platform Unity, there is substantial work to tweak a game for a specific platform.

I wish that could've happened last gen to be honest. Record console sales. Low competition for Nintendo's core games. NSMB, Smash, Mario Kart, 3D Mario etc... setting records or coming close in their respective franchises.

And then... Zelda happened, I know all the factors that played into how it eventually ended up selling, so I don't really wanna debate that. Just a little disappointing that it didn't get the big pay off too.

Well, Twilight Princess at least did incredibly well on Wii. Skyward Sword came too late and required Wii Motion Plus, which may have hurt its sales potential. It sucks and I hope Zelda becomes a huge series again soon.

Everyone wants Nintendo to just stop making games period for the Wii U?

People were asking this question months ago.

I mean, I guess the idea is that it would make NX's launch super amazing, but i'd also guess most of them either don't have a wii u or aren't a 'nintendo is my primary system' person.

Wasn't Twilight princess the best or second best selling game in the franchise, with most of those sales on the wii? I seem to remember if you're ignoring rereleases, then TP is actually the best seller by a not insignificant margin.

Japan stream also says that there's mature content. FE isn't Z in Japan (highest age rating). Maybe Lost Reavers/Project Treasure?

In fact #FE is B as I showed earlier in the thread.

Again, not likely.

Not even a C which is the lowest rating for a black case. Here's the rating.

Lost Reavers would be a C I feel (aka guess) and that's where black cases start for Nintendo retail games in Japan (I know it's not retail) so that would make sense. It would have to be that, a new game, or DLC I think. Way too many people saying #FE in this thread.

Oh, of course, probably Monster Hunter X in Japan.

Yep, TP is the best selling Zelda. Nearly 9 million copies if I remember correct. An even Skyward Sword sold around 4.5-5 million coüies. So I would call that weak sales. And if they play the cards right Zelda U/NX can be a smash hit again.
Whenever they show something of Zelda, the whole gaming world looks at them.

Oh yeah, TP was a Wii game too.

I don't know why my perception of Zelda's sales potential is so negative right now.
I think it's more that the Wii U is going to guarantee a further decrease from Skyward Sword, and I have no faith in the NX doing well at this pont.

Why put TP HD on wii u and not on NX?

TP HD is exactly the kind of low budget, easy release the Wii U needs at the moment. It pads the schedule in 2016 as we approach the launch of NX. It won't sell gangbusters, but that's okay because it's just a quick remaster of an old game.

The real, new games (3D Mario, 3D Zelda) are the games that are currently being worked on for NX. Releasing big time titles like that on the Wii U at this point would be trouble.

I'm pretty sure Skyward Sword sold something like 3.67 million, which is pathetically low for an install base as huge as the Wii.

It barely outsold Majora's Mask, which also required special hardware and was available on a console that sold less than a third of the Wii.

The only thing that sucks about skyward swords sales is we have no idea how it would have done had it not required motion plus. I think it would have sold better had it not been a requirement and also support the pro controller.

Imagine PIkmin 4, Zelda, a new 3D Mario and a new IP at launch!
I already can. I posted in the NX speculation threads that Retro, 3D Mario, Zelda and Pikmin 4 will all be done holiday 2016 to Q1 2017 so it's highly possible those could come out during the launch window of the NX.

Also it's funny how fantasy posts don't contain Metroid and F-Zero anymore. That's how dead those IP's are (until the NX)
