Rumour: Small new Mass Effect: Andromeda details

It'll be nice to have characters with decent hair/facial hair. I really hated the look and styles they had available in all of the games.

Kind of reads like it's going to follow the same formula as the previous games. And Dragon Age; "The Pathfinder", "The Inquisitor"...

I'm just a bit bored of Space Jesus stories right now. I just want some Sci Fi where you're a dude/tte doing a job, not the fucking messiah.

Reading is hard.

I know it's borderline blasphemous, but I'm far more interested in the multiplayer. Any details/rumors on that?

There was this from that leaked survey awhile ago and it sounds a lot like the MP that was in ME3 with the added bonus that you can spend MP credits in SP.

Multiplayer “Horde” Mode:

The next Mass Effect’s “Horde” multiplayer pits you and up to three of your friends against waves of enemy troops on various battlefields throughout the galaxy. Players fight together to survive increasingly difficult enemy attacks and accomplish objectives, like disabling a bomb near a colony base or assassinating a target. Progress through multiplayer missions to gain XP and earn new multiplayer specific weapons, characters, weapon mods, and pieces of equipment, which can be customized between matches. Multiplayer play will also earn you APEX funds (in-game currency), which can be used to purchase items and gear in the Single Player game.

So the first person space exploration part is pretty basic, right? Or can we actually imagine something akin to Elite Dangerous? That would be my dream scifi game.

Watched the Reddit video because I read somewhere that the dreaded
Cerberus
word was mentioned. I mean really is Hack Walters shoe horning those guys in yet again.

I mean come on let them die already. None of the details are all that inspiring to be honest and the implication we might get a certain organisation back just makes me shake my head.

Well I want a space opera and they just work much better with a space jesus.

Sounds promising

Also wtf, a 5 pages long Mass Effect thread and still no sighting of Shinobi? Are they having like rolling blackouts in Florida right now or something?

I'm with you. Before this game was unveiled there was a rumor that we were getting some lowkey Csec buddy cop game, and I can't tell you how good that sounded

I liked DAI including the meaningless bloat and would find a ME game that's just that with a lick of space paint to be just swell

Looking forward to meeting some freaky new Andromedan aliens that speak perfect English

I get the feeling ME andromida will be less Jesus MC and more Manifest Destiny "fuck you we are the most important thing in this galaxy now".
I hope it doesn't try to have a big overarching enemy but your idea sounds awesome
It's a Bioware game so... yes?
Ugh I hope not

Hence the word "probably". I never said that's exactly what will happen. I'm just scared if they do go that way it will be disappointing.

Well the whole idea of one man leading an expedition to Andromeda to find a new home is a Jesus MC. There's also a possibility that the Remnant or the Khet are the big bads. It's pretty much guaranteed there will be a trilogy spanning big bad.
No not really being a leader doesn't make you Jesus but being the only one that can stop the reapers does.

Why is that odd?

The Milky Way is facing total annihilation of course the species of the milky way would try and preserve the civilisations, history, culture, science, etc.. by going to where the Reapers aren't. I doubt the other species would want a human to try and find them a home.

So the plan is to go the galaxy that's going to collide with the Milky Way the soonest?

Brilliant.

Bioware should know all this since they pretty clearly read Revelation Space.

I'm no expert, but the day Andromeda collide with Milky Way is still billions of years away, so not something to really worry about.

In 4 billion years. Also, our sun will go white dwarf in about 5 billion, so we are only loosing a billion years, really.
To put that into context, the universe is (assumed to be) 12 billion years old.

Hopefully the petite, buxom blonde gets a better camera gaze treatment than poor Miranda.

Cerberus? Nooooo!

...hmm, jetpacks, though.

God damn Cerberoids. We had enough of them already and they're not interesting at all.

I feel like this is kind of a waste. I know they didn't want to go back after the clusterfuck they caused with ME3, but playing as a human colonist is, you know, 1. boring, considering we have stuff like krogan and salarians that are still too unexplored, 2. unfortunate implications associated with colonialism which are also completely justified, because humans were entitled, colonizing assholes in the original trilogy as well. But I want to play more Mass Effect, so no choice.

PLEEEEASE make her a lesbian, so that I can enjoy all of the delicious raging that would cause.

Eh, the sexual fetishization of lesbians in society properly makes it okay with people. Cf. how ME1 allowed for lesbian romances, but not gay romances.

What do y'all have against some xenophobic humans?

Yeah in ME3 they were boring but in ME2 they fit in and no doubt a xenophobic human group would exist if we ever went to FTL alien space.

Why would that cause raging? Lesbian romances have been a part of the series since the first game.

Sure, but not usually a main, super-sexy female character. Liara was both, past that was a secondary character (if I'm remembering correctly—stupid sexy Garrus temporarily switched me to the other side), and DAI's lesbian-only char was someone definitely not made to me "male fanservice".

I'd just love to see a character you instantly assume to be a male love interest be a female one instead.

It's not about people not being okay with it, it's with my thinking that a lot of male players would be PISSED if such a hot character wasn't made for them. I mean, look at how much complaining there was over DAI due to there not being "enough" choices for straight males.

And to be clear, I'm not trying to be mean to the guys playing ME! I just think it'd be funny to subvert the expectations of such a character.

No they didnt. They retconned them to make sense. ME1 Cerberus and ME2 seem like entirely different organizations.

Wouldn't have minded Cerberus as a side antagonist who were trying to promote human dominance in the galaxy... my problem lies in the fact that in ME3 Cerberus overnight became a giant army that could put up a fight against every other race combined.

Bioware has never heard of logistics before.

Mostly their execution. They're not just xenophobic, they're evil loonies. Blatantly unethical splinter group in ME1, "oh we're not so bad, we're helping people" in ME2, "We tricked you we were evil all along WAHAHAHAHA" in ME3, and you have to play along with it in ME2. There's a difference between xenophobia (Ashley) and a group that turns an entire colony (of humans) into cyborg zombies for the cause of human supremacy.

As for why Cerberus has an army in ME3, there was some shit about them using Reaper technology to abduct and brainwash humans. No one ever questions the ethics of blowing the heads off of indoctrinated civilians or ever even mentioning that it happened because that's just what ME3 is I guess.

I just want to known if the series is going back to an RPG like the first game or if it's going to be a third-person shooter with RPG elements like the third game.

Cerberus.

"Strike missions" sounds like those annoying "click this to deploy your forces for _______ real world mins to get resources" missions*

*...which you can also pay microtransactions to speed up, of course.

Actually probably not. You couldn't do that in Drsgon Age: Inquisition and it was the same for Mass Effect 3, of I'm remembering right. The microtransactions were in the MP.
