Worth mentioning that the MM is one of those free CCU types. Redeemer -> MM CCU = $0. Combine with P-72 and you're sitting with a $30 LTI downpayment to one. The Khartu is the same way with the Taurus. This sale in combination with the new CCU system and the cheap P-72 makes it extremely easy to lock in the "limited" ships and have them in LTI form. Still obviously have to pay off the difference down the line, but it allows you to do it on your time schedule and not whenever CIG decides to put them back on sale.

Super smooth footage. Wonder what his configuration is.

I bet 1080p with a good CPU, a single 980Ti and a few user.cfg tweaks would be fine.
Edit: ha, nailed it

---

Next PTU update is available now. They sounded pretty confident about getting the next patch out tomorrow morning with more crash fixes.

Love this guy's videos. The first one was posted here already, not sure about the second. Hope he keeps it up.

His hardware, from comments of the first video:

Excellent news. I've managed to do two pirate clears with relay restorations in a single session now before crashing, which is more than before. Progress...

Just google Star Citizen Artwork

https://www.google.com/search?q=sta...Yyp4KrJAhWF8z4KHaoiD4wQ_AUIBigB&dpr=1#imgrc=_

ugh I am in awe of this game, can't believe what i'm seeing.

There's certainly a ton of artwork for the game. A game that hasn't even been released yet even. If you like what you see on a google search, then you'd probably love the subscriber section of the site: (Whether you'd want to pay for access is a whole different matter.)

Those are all galleries. An easier to read, albeit much longer to load version is here.

Edit: never mind, Burny was looking for posts before the ones I had linked.

To review, some stuff from this year:

July 20: controller balance comments
http://imperialnews.network/2015/07/10-chairman-episode-60/

Thanks. That's a very useful collection of links for someone who doesn't follow the game as closely. In that regard, the text transcript is also worth more than all the videos. I was looking for any post concerning the issue from the moment it arose. The 20. July post is what I was looking for in terms of balance. The October post is what I was looking for in terms of improving the flight model.

They make largely valid points, but they're also pretty late compared to when Arena Commander launched. And again, pretty verbose and vague by saying everything and nothing. Can't fault them for not heaving the perfect solution ready when they burried in other work. But then they waffle on and on...

Takeaway:
- Gimbals are there to stay.
- Balancing might be attempted by buffing fixed and nerfing gimbaled weapons.
- Won't bother to balance and iterate over AC before they've got a more complete picture, including multi crew ships with turrets (I suspect the PU Alpha 2.0 would be a more complete picture?)

I'm waiting for a follow up here, once they've got the Alpha PU stable enough to consider balancing. Before any of that happens though, talk is cheap.

The Hulls will be on sale today right?
Thursday. Today has a bunch of utility ships like the Orion and Reclaimer, but the Hull series is Thursday in the "mercantile" sale. I put that in quotes because the Hull is the only merchant ship there. The Phoenix and MIS barely qualify as their focus is elsewhere.

Edit: Beaten. Slow phone posts FTL.

Is there a sale on a package (gets you everything)? Or will there be one more than https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Packages/Star-Citizen-Starter

There is a sale of the discounted package every day, which resets at 9 am PST (I think). They used to only offer 1000 per day, but yesterday they upped it 3000. So if you want one you should try to be quick.

Otherwise, the standard price of packages are 45$.

IIRC, the Hull C clocked in at $200 USD.

Yes, and $90 for the Hull B. You can check prices by using the upgrade tool as it gives the source price for every ship. Despite what they say about ships getting more expensive in subsequent sales, they really haven't. It's more a matter of differing insurance periods, and the P-72 gives a handy side step to that.

You and me, brother! <3

Tomorrow.

But today, I must have the Orion!

Here's the org spreadsheet in case anyone wants to update their ship inventory: (quote for link)

and for anyone who isn't in the org yet, here's the link: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/orgs/NEOGAF/

At first I was going to say that maybe I shouldn't bother with the Orion if we're already going to have two without me, but then I realized you're not a part of the org. Staying the course then I guess.

I'll go for the Crucible instead since it looks like no one picked one up.

Alpha 2.0c is definitely more stable than the previous ones. I was actually able to get in my damn Gladiator (front seat was bugged, for some reason you could only get in the rear seat). They upped the difficulty so now some enemies are engaging you in Gladiuses instead of the EZ-kill Auroras. I suffered my first crash in this build when I fired a missile at a Gladius, and right before it impacted my client nope'd out. gg CIG. As fast as they're fixing the problems, everyone might be able to get in on this Alpha by December. Hopefully.

The real 2.0 will begin when it's stable enough to load up entire Retaliators/Constellations with people and do something meaningful without crashing. Well, that and when it has a way to get people in the same org in the same instance so the above can actually be realistically accomplished. Can't wait!

The devs mentioned they had one report of people loading up a party constellation with 10 people and the session crashed when they ran into a retaliator, so I guess that kind of thing is already good to go once the crashes are resolved.

Then the real work begins. They have to get rid of all the odd bugs like people getting left behind in quantum, people flying/clipping through the ships et cetera. They'll probably leave those bugs for live.

Indeed, but this is one of those situations where the destination is far more interesting than the journey. ;)

I'm assuming you meant Retaliator... Unless I missed something and the Redeemer is flight ready now.

Kingdom Come Deliverance now has SVOTI implementation, as of their recent patch. This is good news, as it probably means that SC will get it too.

For those of you who don't know, this is what SVOTI does:

Trip down memory lane

So the major priority stuff (the stuff that caused delays at the start, are being completed that is why the release schedule is so tight over the next year as in this is not one year spent with updates on one module, they are aiming for 4 additional modules that all interact with each other. If they are angling for a playable PU by end of the year that means most of the major work is blocked out and it is down to, low priority elements, bug smashing and refinements.

A few believed that this would not have been done. Actions speak louder than words (and so does hi res pics and videos) Not in the new PU alpha yet but at least this shows they are trying to bring this out in a reasonable;e manner.

I just asked Ali Brown on the RSI forums if they are considering adding it. He did recently mention how they will cherry pick certain rendering features from the newer cryengines. Let us hope this is one of them!

What have the top backers of you people spend on pledges?

Wouldn't anyone want this setup instead to play the game? ;) Im pretty fascinated by the idea of a 180° view in games. That's more than the current VR headsets are going to provide.

surroundmlu1i.jpg

It is great and all, but I shudder to think of the PC required to render SC at a 180º FOV. Also it should be noted that VR is much more immersive on account of head position tracking and stereoscopic vision.

Nah, stereoscopic vision in VR is more valuable than the bigger FOV for dogfighting in my opinion. Higher framerate and strobing OLED too (able to clearly read moving objects).

Need to see if I can get VorpX to do anything useful with my DK2 in Star Citizen one of these days.

Nope. For what it excels in sims, it loses in the general functionality of a regular computer setup. I'd then need two setups. Even if I had the space for another setup, this would cost more in hardware than I spent in SC. It also wouldn't help in the development of the game itself.

Still think it's going to hit by january. The holidays will smash everyone's paychecks and they need some recovering time from the sale they are doing now.

We're still coming up to what I assume will be the biggest days of the sale. The free for all when every ship from all the previous daily sales go up at once and people have to put up or give up. Hitting 99 million before December isn't out of the question. Then it's just a matter of getting the last million before the year clicks over.

there's also bound to be a cap ship sale soon as well, those Javelins should bump the total up a good amount

They had the Armada pack on sale again already, so technically they did have a cap ship sale. =) I'm not so sure that the Javelin will hit again this year though. If it does, it'll probably be an extremely limited F5 sale.
