TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan rated. (Activision, Platinum Games, PC/PS4/XB1/360/PS3)

Platinum and TMNT? Yeah man!

I expect it to be a short game like Transformers and Korra, but as always, some decent combat gameplay for all that juicy replay value.

I still to need to get Tranformers... one day.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
My ideal design for the Turtles is the meeting of the comic originals and the 80's cartoon:

Which is also sort of what a lot of the old toy boxes had their art basis in:

I'll waiver my "few shitty minigame segments" stance due to a Turtle Van segment being absolutely fucking mandatory.

You can't ask for the same amount of depth, polish and content in what are essentially low budget games made fast. Scalebound and Nier Automata will be AAA games in the vein of Bayo (2), Vanquish, Rising and W101 (three games that were nothing like Bayonetta by the way).

These licensed games are a different kettle of fish. For such a game, Devastation was actally pretty damn deep and complex.

If it keeps Platinum in business and leads to games as fun as Devastation, you won't hear me complain.

I wouldn't really consider any platinum game AAA as far as budget. Especially not vanquish, rising, and w101. They make games on a budget, and these licensed games on an even tighter budget than their original games.

Transformers — check
TMNT — check

Now Platinum needs to make:

G.I. Joe
Street Sharks
Beast Wars
Power Rangers
Big Bad Beetleborgs
Masked Rider
Gundam Wing
Outlaw Star
Cowboy Bebop
Evangelion
Batman Beyond

Needs more Samurai Jack and Rurouni Kenshin. If we bring out the big guns, we also need Pirates of Dark Water, Gatchaman/G-Force and Ronin Warriors.

Classic cartoon design would be awesome, the nick style is ok but I see it everywhere.

Hope this game isn't using the latest movie designs...

Stuff looks good. I really like the current Nick designs as well.

No shit! I thought for sure we'd never again get a "legit" TMNT game. Maybe I was wrong. Platinum does the best melee combat systems, completely shitting on stuff like Batman and Asscreed imo (and it's not close). I'll have my eye on this one.

I'll bet money it's the 80s cartoon.

Platinum seems to identify itself with Saturday morning cartoons quite a bit (whole basis of W101) and look at the TFers game they made.

I'll bet money it's the IDW Turtles whose models are already in Pro Skater 5

According to Kamiya, W101 was more expensive to make than Bayo. :)

But yeah, AAA is a vague term. What I meant is that these licensed games are clearly lower budget.

Said game may have used the G1 aesthetic, but it honestly took more than a couple of cues from IDW's on-going than just citing the 80s toon verbatim.

The whole "Combiner Wars" thing, along with the appearance of
Nova Prime, who ended up being retconned into classic G1
, said it all.

Plus, going by what I read over at the likes of technodrome, it seems that there may still be some issues when it comes to the Fred Wolf side of things. If so, going for something veering closer to IDW, which gives them all they need to utilize stylized versions of FW/Archie characters, anyway, would be the ideal.

I like Platinum, but slow the fuck down you guys. How big is their studio to be working on all of these different games?

Yeah, haven't been a big of the Turtles since...3rd grade, so I'm skeptical. Transformers was mediocre if you aren't a Transformers fan. I think TMNT has more potential for an action game, but at the end of the day, I'm worried we'll get more Bayonetta-lite.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
They look fine in the arcade games. Nick versions are goofier.
The arcade games sorta had their own build though, they look similar to the 80's cartoons sure but they actually don't look like a mish-mash of dough.

I still side by 2k3 being the best looking turtles.

I was just about to post this. This is most likely the character design for the game.

Yeah, this model looks way too good to have been made specifically for THPS5. I'm happy with how it looks, personally.

And yeah, I'm pretty pumped for this. A TMNT game in the vein of Transformers sounds pretty fucking dope.

I'm not a huge TF fan but I thought Devastation was pretty fun regardless. The vehicle transformation stuff was cool and I liked the different characters. It's not on the same level as Rising or Bayo but still enjoyable, far from mediocre.

Korra, on the other hand...enh. THAT's a lot closer to mediocre than TF was.

I think some feel its mediocre because of the bland level design. While it's cool to get lost in the stylish action P* Games gives us. It all still feels lite in the ass.

I expect this TMNT to get the same treatment.

Ah yeah. Well, combat could take place in a blank space as far as I'n concerned as long as the combat is good. But is is lite of course.

Just saying that you can't expect the same experience as Bayonetta. These games are probably made on a 1/4 of its budget and in half the time, if not less.

Never seen Transformers in my life. Devastation is one of the best games I've played this year and gameplay-wise, it's actually deeper than for example Rising.

Boggles my mind that games are still being made for 10-year old hardware (360) and 9-year old hardware (PS3).

What the fuck.

LOL

TF Devastation was a fine, fine game unfortunately held back by a lower budget. It's a shame about the reuse of the environments and such but the core gameplay itself and the general presentation was excellent so hopefully TMNT will be more like that than Korra.

Well, considering the games are being made on a pretty tight budget, might as well get all the sales you can from it.

For what it's worth, Transformers still looked pretty good on 360/PS3, considering the hardware.

It's a licensed game that will appeal to kids with those old systems. Makes perfect sense for this to be on as many consoles as possible. Same thing happened with PS2.

Huge fan of the original comics, tolerant of most of the rest of the franchise (and I was way into the original cartoon at the time but I am sure I'd find it mostly unwatchable now.)

So, I doubt this'll feature my favorite turtle designs but I'm interested anyway.
