Keighley: Konami lawyers holding Kojima hostage; audience loudly boos. Inconceivable.

I think it's time for platform makers to stop distributing Konami products now. Someone needs to take a stand.

They've tried to C&D people over stupider things like videos on Youtube; I could easily see Konami telling Keighley this but not expecting him to call them out on it live on stage.

Yeah, whatever you think of Keighley, this move took balls and it's amazing that he did it.

HAHAHA, god damn you Konami, even if someone announce MGS V DLC on this I will not even bother at this point. Go make pachinko games because I doubt anyone will buy anything from you guys ever again.

I keep thinking that one day Konami will have a whole bunch of firings and an apology from the ownership saying that the management was to blame. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure all of this is coming straight from the top.

Well they were dumb to do that. It is no secret that Geoff and Kojima are friends.

To repeat myself, sometime in the last 2 years, Geoff Keighly seems to have decided "You know what? I'm going to do this thing for real."

Most likely Kojima told Keighly this and he probably figured it wouldn't come back to bite him. What are they going to do? Not give him exclusive world premier of their next pachinko machine?

I am truly surprised Geoff went ahead and disclosed that information live. It seems to me the industry just doesn't care about Konami any longer.

It's a sad day, but it's also a nice thing we noticed today: gaming journalism with integrity.

F Konami, long live Kojima and all that. But mostly f Konami.

I have said this before, Geoff is a major asset to our hobby. More than a lot of the supposedly important people in the industry. He puts his money where his mouth too. He's not perfect, but he certainly does try.

V has come too.

I find it funny Keighley was allowed to point this out live, during the awards show where everyone would hear/see it.

Konami doesn't give two shits about their public image in gaming anymore.

That's open all because they're on their way out of the business. Probably looking for potential buyers for their IP's.

What did Kojima do to get this type of treatment? Like is there any rumor?

Insubordination? Trying to take over the company from within? I mean like, there has to be another side to this...right?

Used to hate him, because he always seems fake.

Seems now that it's just him trying to look professional or something. I have lately had pretty mad respect for him for fronting his own money for his ventures and while I disagree with a lot of his opinions, I still feel like he is a positive force in the gaming industry overall, and his influence is felt pretty far and wide.

The only thing close to a rumor is that Kojima's games were very expensive and Konami didn't like that. But it doesn't explain why they've essentially try to shut him out of the industry. He wasn't able to accept awards at the Playstation Awards (nor was any other KojiPro staffer) and he wasn't able to accept this award.
