The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel (PS3/Vita) launching 12/22 in NA

Oh, the normal price is $50, $40 is after GCU (normal is $40 MSRP.) Unless you have some gift credit laying around you're applying to the game, then nevermind!

Bestbuy screwed up back in early October and put up the PS3 LE for $40. So GCU brought it down to $34 which was nice. They always honor their screw ups too

Seems like I made the right decision to import the NA LE. Mini-soundtracks are useless to me since I usually buy the complete OST anyway if I liked the music (In this case, I know already that the music is awesome).

Same here, pretty much.
I do own both the OST and the Super Arrange Version albums already actually.

Has Xseed ever said whether they are releasing the DLC for the game, and if they are whether they are going to have some drag period or they'll all be released at once?

Pretty sure we are getting the costumes at least since they always try and get DLC. Hopefully they release it all day 1 unlike namco with the tal...well with any of their games really.

They only said the western releases would have all post-Japan release patches rolled in already... nothing about costume DLC. Hell, didn't even know there WERE any.

I bet it's been asked before, but Vita or PS3?

I'm leaning Vita, but is it missing anything? Full VA? Graphics aren't important.

Also, do the "social links" carry over between games, or nah? Everything I've read isn't definitive.

The Vita version isn't missing anything.

"Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date."

Estimate faster pls

Just got FC but I understand that only SC is linked to it so ToCS is a whole new game? Someone clarify.

It's a new storyline set in the same universe, but starring different characters.

With that being said, all games are interconnected in the grander scheme of things. A close analogy would be Resident Evil games.

You can play RE games without having played the previous games, they all have their own story arc, but there's an ongoing bigger narrative connecting all the games together.

Ah, I see. Thanks.

why is amazon so bad at shipping out games in NA?
I mean VGP managed to get them out starting on Wednesday, amazon has no excuse.

Despite my having had this game pre-ordered nearly from the first day it was available on Amazon mine is still showing as "we need more time to provide a delivery estimate". This is on the Vita LE, btw.

On the one hand I have many games to play right now so it's not as if I need it next week but on the other hand I am excited to at least get started on the game and I won't be able to do that until it arrives. I wonder how long it will take?

Amazon does a lot of things well but release day delivery for some of these smaller print run games seems to be a trouble spot. My XCX copy arrived nearly a week late, for example.

I won't give any amazon any flack because they've been amazing for me. They let me return an item and refunded me and told me I can keep the item. Talk about stellar service.

Estimated Delivery date Jan 4 - 11. Goddamnit Amazon :(

Canada? Cause they just did the same thing to me. Really glad I pre-ordered with EBGames as a safety net now. Hopefully one of them will ship it early next week. Then again, I just ordered a n3DS and Persona Q and I have no idea how I'm supposed to choose between that and Cold Steel. CS coming in that late would make that choice much easier lol.

Mine was the 31st of December, Canada as well. If I hadn't cancelled I'm sure I'd only see it some time in January, because of how messed up the deliveries get during these times. A shame cuz I had the 30% discount on it.

So....is this a sequel FC/SC? Or Memories of Celceta?

New arc with ties to FC/SC.

So....is this a sequel FC/SC? Or Memories of Celceta?

There is a long-running since 1989 series called Legend of Heroes.

As of the sixth game, they started making them in a new universe.

The first game in this universe, set in the country of Liberl was:

Trails in the Sky FC.

Then Trails in the Sky SC, the sequel.

Then they made a epilogue:

Trails in the Sky the 3rd.

Then they moved countries, to Crossbell, to start a new duology:

Trails of Zero.

Then, Trails of Azure.

Then they moved countries, to Erebonia to start a new trilogy:

Trails of Cold Steel.

Then the sequels, Trails of Cold Steel II and upcoming Cold Steel III.

Does this help?

All of them are connected, but Cold Steel is intended to be a jumping in point for newcomers.

Whut?

3rd is not a prologue, it's a bonafide sequel.

Each new arc imo are effectively a jumping point for newcomers. So not just Cold Steel, but Trails of Zero as well.

FC/SC are the end of Joshua and Estelle's story. 3rd is what happens afterwards.

I can only say that for some reason with XSeed games here in Canada for me I never get my stuff on the same week it is said to release. I've mostly transitioned to digital for their games because of that.

Well, now I'm worried. Amazon.ca is telling me I'll get Cold Steel LE in April. Sounds like they are hoping on a re-print or something?

Never mind my last post. Just spoke with a CSR (Amazon Canada), supposedly the issue was having everything set to group orders, even though each item was already grouped into individual orders anyway. I doubt it was the issue since it was set to ship after the latest product in the order as its own shipment anyway. Now its saying I'll get it by the end of December, plus they waived shipping. Weird issue either way.

Loading times for battles vary per battle and system. For example, PS3 loads a battle with identical monsters within 2.5 seconds, the Vita version can take up to 6 when there are large and a wide variety of monsters. Since there are field attacks, and you're supposed to attack the enemy from behind before engaging into battle, it adds a little suspense which I'm personally not bothered by. In particular on higher difficulty settings, each battle takes its time anyway.

My Best Buy order went into preparing for shipment this morning. First time using them since they started offering free release date delivery, we'll see if it actually comes on the 22nd.

Last couple of niche Vita games I ordered from them totally got here on release day, between that and GCU, I've been using them a lot this year.

That's good to know. I use them a lot for store pickup since a couple stores are pretty close but this is the first time having something shipped from them in years.
