New trailer for The Division (3 minutes)

Oh, I didn't know that. I was hearing it was just like Destiny so I figured it was hub based, loading from zone to zone.

This is actually really awesome to know.

So are missions just picked up from your base and just wonder through the world?

More or less. You also pick up missions out in the field. They have also recently added a personalized base mechanic. Destiny is built the way it is built because they wanted to keep it on old consoles.

The Division feels huge and for good reason. Easily my most anticipated game this year.

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
syndicate - pcss and txaa broken
the crew - txaa broken
far cry 4 - txaa broken, pcss cuts perf in half and isnt even really pcss since the cascade level is far too close for any of the shadows to even have variable soft penumbra(this is after 10 patches of them fiddling with it, each time it would change but still be pretty broken. they finally gave up and settled on almost no visual differentiation more than 1 meter from your character when compared to the standard ultra shadows.)

all 3 titles featured a gameworks trailer where these same features provide different(better) visual results than in the end product. they repeatedly do this same shit. advertise features they know dont work with fake, bullshit footage right up to the day of release.

edit - i forgot the god rays in far cry 4 that also dont work like in the gameworks trailer
I've checked reports for all three and I'm not seeing reports of them being outright broken.
TXAA is more performance heavy than other AA methods. PCSS as well, is more intensive. That's what I meant. It's the same issue when people call a port "unoptimized" when they have future proofed effects. Not to mention, this shouldn't have to be reiterated, but this title is not made by Ubi Montreal, Ubi Quebec, Ubi Kiev(the dev behind the pc ports), etc. It's not AC, It's not FC etc. It's made by a mostly pc exclusive developer.

Trailer looks sweet but Ubisoft's bullshit UPLay servers are preventing me and my friend from co-oping in ANY of their titles. Not even their port forward support works.

Im not talking about performance. Im talking about visual result. I linked a video to syndicate a few posts up

Yea, I'm watching this video

and this look awesome, I had no idea it was open world PvP and PvE I always thought it was hub based.

So you're saying the alpha sold you huh?

Not the beta?

I need to play the beta before I make my decision.

There wasn't TONNES to do, but the game was what I originally expected Destiny to be. I got lost exploring, finding random loot or side quests inside buildings (Yes you can go inside quite a few apartments/houses etc).

The multiplayer is never really forced on you either. You can just hit up matchmaking if you go up to a quest location, or choose to just accept the mission solo. If you match make, the game will spawn in another real world player(s) also looking for partners and you can continue on and start your mission.

I also like how they've made a distinction between aesthetic gear and stat related gear. A lot of your clothes, like jackets, hats etc have no bearing on your stats, so if you like something that looks cool, you don't need to worry about changing it for something that looks shit but has better stats.

Cover system is also really organic and tactile. My only criticism are the shooting mechanics. Felt slightly off but I'm not sure if it was because my gun was shit and I had a lack of stability attachments or not.

So is the game multiplayer all the time? How does PvP work?

it is hub based. The PvE sections you will never run into another player, only at the hubs you will. PvP in the Dark Zone is auto match making and just throws you in a cluster with other players when you enter. Once you exit the dark zone you won't see another player till the hubs again.

PvP only happens in a designated area called the Dark Zone, which is a specific part of the map where players can go at it, killing each other and stealing loot. You can avoid it altogether.

Aside from that, when you go to a mission location on the map, you can choose to match make before you accept it and random real world players who are also matchmaking will spawn in to make up your squad. From there you can tackle the mission and then carry on playing with each other for as long as you want.

Alternatively you can invite friends to your squad when you start up the game and do missions, story mission, hit up the dark zone and explore freely.

The MP experience is never forced on your, but it's very easy to get into if you choose.

Looking good, not liking the fire effects though. As for the gameplay, there are new stuff I hadn't seen, is that simulation of an attack during encounters, the wireframed object mode?

Damn the trailer actually hyped me, too bad I'm afraid I'll get bored of it really and I also don't trust Ubi lol like not all, after Far Cry 4, Watch Dogs and The Crew...

Cautiously optimistic. I have the PS4 version pre-ordered since last year E3 amazon promotion but I could be tempted to go on PC.. I'm afraid there'll be more cheater though.

Can't wait to try the beta.

Looks incredible. Can't wait!!

Ubi does need to stop showing super early vertical slices though. Help avoid all the "where are the graffix!?" debates.

What is the max group size in this game? Thinking about convincing my Destiny group to pick this up.

4 players I believe. Plus one optional drone controller <--- (don't know if they are still doing the mobile stuff)

Holy crap... this is the first time that this game has looked even remotely interesting to me, and it looks AMAZING!

Did we know about all these abilities and gadgets before? Makes the gameplay look very class-balance based, which is fantastic. Looks like the gameplay of Fuse in a better MMO style form.

The NPCs and social environments look fantastic and interesting as well...

Seriously, this has gone from complete zero to Day Zero for me. I may even pre-order it just because of this trailer... I'm floored.

Me too and I love it.

I can only assume that these were the locked abilities during the alpha.

The two that I know weren't in the beta are the Shield, and that BB-8 looking device.

Either way I am fucking hyped for this game, and I can't wait to play it.

Squad is 4.
Altough we dont know if there is some content that allows more. Like a Raid in Destiny.

Wasn't there confirmed 8 play raids?

I'm in the same boat. Would love the better textures and framerate. Though don't want to deal with aimbot users in the Dark Zone.

Was a rumor. But has never been confirmed.

They got rid of that.

Alpha sold me on the gameplay. Hope the visuals in that trailer are a representation of the final product. Will be a nice improvement if so. Will be picking this up Day 1 on PS4 I think.

THIS is what I was looking for with Destiny. Can't wait to try the beta.

Is it a seamless load, or does it load you in?

It's not hub-based lol, it's fully open world. You just a main house you can go into in the world which is your Base of Operations.

Knowing this is open world has peaked my interest. I always thought it was Destiny which everything was instanced and no exploring at all and go from one load screen to the next.

Ubisoft published it.

This game is made my Massive. And they know their shit.

Get hyped.

The people saying "It's Ubisoft downgrades" don't seem to actually care about who's developing the game unfortunately. To them it seems every Ubi game ever is solely developed by Ubisoft Montreal.

In the video he linked, TXAA is clearly not working how it should, the temporal sampling does a poor job at removing the flickering. No difference between 4x TXAA and 2x MSAA + FXAA, seems broken to me.
I know from experience that The Crew's TXAA doesn't work correctly too, no idea regarding PCSS and FarCry 4 that being said.

Anyway, I'm eager to see how the game will perform on PC.

I think the concept of a Destiny type game that is also a stop n pop cover shooter kinda neutralizes my excitement. Just looking at the gameplay, I know it will do nothing for me.
