Reheat or eat it cold?

I would say that I rarely reheat leftovers. The exception being a big plate of thanksgiving food.

Chinese, pizza, restaurant doggy-bags, spaghetti, etc is delicious cold and standing in front of the fridge.

It has come to my attention that I like to eat a lot of food cold after initial preparation, instead of reheating like a normal human being. First, some common ground...I feel like pizza is one where many people are ok with eating it cold, although it could be topping dependent. More often than not though, I find the cold version tastier than the reheated version.

Wings are another item that I often like to eat cold straight from the fridge, rather than reheat.

Ok, so now to venture outside what most people might consider the norm, I also like to eat the following foods cold on occasion:
- fried/baked chicken
- lasagna
- meatloaf
- marinated meats such as steak tips

Anyone else share my desire, and if so which foods??
No problem eating that stuff cold. Cold schnitzel on bread tastes incredible.

Cold lasagna is also great.

But with cold I talk about room temperature.

I pretty much always reheat everything. I don't even like cold pizza, which many people consider the gold standard of once-cooked cold foods.

Straight meats like Turkey, Roast Beef, Ham are fine cold if in the form of a sandwich or salad, same with an egg salad, but come on, Lasagna? Get out of here with that.

And yeah this is true. Turkey sandwich is fine and definitely egg salad. i don't think I've ever had warm egg salad. Warm eggs, sure.

I have a hard time eating anything cold. Lukewarm, sure, but not cold.

I don't like the taste of cold meat, and won't eat 'cold meats' that someone's picked up from the deli. Just the look and smell makes me sick and I don't know why. I like most meats when they're done properly.

On the subject of breakfast pizzas, QuikTrip has damned good ones:

i've been on the fence about trying their breakfast pizza because the regular stuff isn't so great and Casey's breakfast pizza exists, but screw it that looks pretty good

Yeah, I mean, Casey's is kinda the gold standard for all convenience store pizza, I think, but QT has definitely upped their game recently.

I used to eat some stuff cold, but started re-heating a few years ago. The microwave is a gamble, since there's a good chance it will either dry the food out, or leave parts of it ice cold. I just toss the food into the oven, set it to 400F, and depending on what it is, it's usually hot enough by the time the oven is pre-heated. If not, I just leave it in for a few extra minutes until it's thoroughly heated.

Pizza is great cold. I try not to microwave pizza for reheating, it ruins it. I was doing the frying pan method for a while but stopped since it requires effort and I like cold pizza anyway

Fried chicken, always cold. How would you even reheat this, microwave? Toaster oven? Nah, it tastes great cold.

I think those are the only 2 foods I don't reheat. Here's a weird one, I like Chinese take-out BETTER after reheating in the microwave. Back in my college days I used to order Chinese take-out the day before I intended to eat it so it would be refrigerated and microwaved on first sitting.

edit: that only applies to sauce glazed chicken, like general tso's and sesame chicken

it depends on the food but fake chinese food is amazing cold.

Ah yes, I forgot about this. Back in the college days, morning afters sometimes included consuming cold boneless spareribs and teriyaki beef, and if still hungry reheated fried rice.

These work for my tastebuds, and your mileage may vary:

Cold steak cut into strips and dipped in sauce of choice is amazing, but it has to be medium/medium-rare for me, rare or blue steak trigger texture issues when cold (tbh, blue will do that when hot, too). Ketchup is godlike on cold steak, but only if you like ketchup to begin with. Sacrilege when hot, guilty pleasure when cold. Brings a new meaning to "steak fries".

Spaghetti noodles (thin). If you've made American spaghetti, try dipping it into hot marinara or meat sauce with cheese of choice. Parmesan and romano are safe bets. If you want to get it cold with some flavor already on the noodles, tossing it in a small amount of butter or oil & seasoning works well, but keep the fats super light, because they get gross in the fridge.

American Chinese is another good choice. Outside of pizza, wings, and some dessert items, I can't think of many other hot food leftovers I eat cold by choice. Maybe ribs? But that requires there to be leftovers. Things like Thanksgiving Turkey and Meatloaf are okay, but only if you're turning it into a sandwich.

QT breakfast pizza is the go-to fast food breakfast treat of our teen, but I'm not sure if they like it cold.

Pretty much everything is fine cold, only major exception is rice.

Leftovers make for perfect sandwiches too, perfect for an easy lunch. Fried chicken sandwich. Sausage sandwich. Chili sandwich. Curry sandwich.

If I refrigerate it, I'll reheat it.

If I just left it on the counter for a few hours, I'll eat it as is.

edit: lol, never mind. I just remembered that I ate a few chicken wings right out of the fridge a few weeks ago.

I eat leftovers almost exclusively cold. I heat them up maybe 5-10% of the time I have them. I'm talking pasta, chinese, pizza, chicken, etc. For whatever reason the heating up doesn't really do much for me. Also not big on microwaves and I have no patience to heat stuff up in the oven.

If it was hot originally, it needs to be hot again.
Soups must be boiling, cheeses melting, freshly fried goods, etc.

Please do not let me serve on a jury. I am actually a crazy person.
Cold lasagna can be amazing, depending how it's done.

Unless it's something like a dessert that could be served warm or cold, then I'm reheating it. Ain't no time for cold or room temp in my diet. That's a big "nope."
