What's to say they can't make both a Wii U version and a 3DS version, akin to Smash Bros? Hell, they could even add features to the game that require both versions to be owned, thus bring in more money.

That isn't Nintendo's decision and makes no sense from a Third party perspective.

Not saying it would make sense for Nintendo, at this point in the Wii U's life cycle.

Worldwide Direct doesn't mean that it's exactly the same Direct worldwide.

Unless the international version of the Direct is longer than 5 minutes, it's not like they can just throw an extra segment there without cutting the original content.

Do you honestly think they will do a Japanese direct for the Western audience or vice versa? It will a completely localized direct, maybe even between the US and Europe. So it is entirely possible, that it's longer or with less fluff to make place for detective Pikachu.

Just like the X & Y Directs were?

Wait, those were the same :p

The news is up on Nintendo Hong Kong official page.

Nintendo Hong Kong announced on facebook that they are preparing a special video (probably the direct) for view on the official page, facebook and weibo. If true, this is the first direct from Nintendo Hong Kong.

Now that Hong Kong is included in thinking the news is even bigger than expected. My prediction: Pokemon are revealed. Finally. As real, I mean.

Many Chinese forums are exploding with speculations. Around a year ago, there was a group of Chinese signed to request a Pokemon game with Chinese localization from TPC, but TPC rejected the request. Now it seems that we are really going to get a Chinese localization for the new game/whatever it is.

Edit: Sorry for the double post. Too excited.

Yes they were, especially the second one

Okay fine, you are right about the second one (I forgot about it tbh), but the first one has been fully localized, which could be the case here as well. So it's entirely possible that the Western version is a little longer and will include extra stuff. I'm not saying that it's gonna happen, but it is possible.

Did they outright reject it? I thought they said "We will consider it"

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Now that I think about it, how present is Nintendo in Hong Kong? The possibility of a Chinese translation for Pokémon appearing so late in the 3DS life is quite peculiar.

Because the Pokémon series is designed around the handheld and Game Freak just don't have the man power to develop both a handheld and a console version of the game.

The main series Pokémon game is staying on the handheld and people are just going to have to accept that.

What's the best possible thing they could reveal for your tastes?

For me, it is (and has always been) 'Pokémon will now automatically be healed after every battle'. That's the number 1 gameplay change I want. Would fix half my issues with the series in one stroke.

At this stage, new pokemon just don't get me excited like they used to. I want to see changes to the formula.

The games have been getting progressively easier. This would make the main campaign ridiculous.

The game being better than X and Y by giving me something that will make go yeah "Gen 6 was a pretty good gen".

Ew, the game is already easy enough as it is let not make it brain dumb easy.

They brought Mega, that is what I call changing the formula.

The main issue is that the new game reveal probably will close the Direct, if you place more stuff before it, you'll get reveals at different times, killing the point of a worldwide Direct.

Assuming that it's a new generation... Each Pokemon having HM field abilities by default that are triggered by getting badges.

Full 3d movement, camera control and world design, dumping the top-down view for exploration.

I would not like to have them healed after each battle, would make it ridiculously easy. And I kind like the use of bikes or HM Fly to go back and forth areas to heal, it kind of encourages more exploration.

What I would like to see (other than more content obviously) is a harder difficulty option or some kind of new balancing that makes it somewhat more challenging. And also something that can make battles less random (an step forward to ORAS implemented system).

Think about WHY it is easy.

Now think about how much more leeway GF would have to design strings of challenging battles if they don't have to worry about the player potentially not being fully healed at any given time.

It's a phenomenal idea

I want Pokémon healed after every battle because it would make the game harder, not easier. That's the whole point. When the game designer doesn't have to account for accumulated damage on your party he can give the AI a team that can properly challenge yours.

The two places in pokemon where pokemon are healed after every battle are the Battle Frontier facilities (or equivalent in each gen) and in multiplayer. No surprise that they are the most challenging part of pokemon and the one place where the battle system shines.

That needs to be translated to the main story somehow.

All these people asking for MUCH easier gameplay... wasn't ORAS Exp Share enough for you?

The games are now much easier than they used to be, just watch the anime or a stream if you don't want any challenge lol

EDIT: Battle Frontier and similar are not harder because of healing, they're harder because of level scaling (for both you and the opponents) and the fact you have to challenge a lot of different teams with the same one every time, which makes having the right type/move at the right time almost impossible.

All those people interpreting ease of use features that would actually increase potential difficulty, as making the game 'easier'...

I'm one of those rare people who doesn't mind that the game's are getting easy tho. Not when I've got like 9 billion Pokémon to catch and train. X/Y would have been torture without EXP share

1. You shouldn't lose the poke ball if it misses. Duh.
2. You should catch a Pokemon anyway if you knocked it out.

I'm with you, I want changes.

Ah ok! Now I got it! Yeah, looking at this point it could be a good idea.

So. From what i'm seeing, one of two things are about to happen:

1: There's nothing but a 5 minute long trailer for Z/Gen7

Internet explodes in joy, speculation goes rampant, Nintendo's share price skyrockets.

2: There's nothing but a 5 minute long "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, POKEMON!" Video

The internet explodes in anger, Speculation goes rampant, Nintendo's share price plummets.

Hrm. well, we'll see in 45 minutes, eh?

Just add a perma death mode or something and I am happy.

Could be either as you needing to start as a new trainer after you get wiped,
or when a Pokemon faints, it gets automatically released after battle.

No, the average single battle in Battle Frontier is an actually a challenge that you might lose. If you don't have a balanced team that might be up to a 50% chance. Yes, a majority of the overall challenge comes from making it though multiple battles, but there's no doubt that each one is a potential loss. Is each AI battle in the story a potential loss? Can you really say that?

Consider how many times you've ever lost to an AI trainer during the main story, or how many times you've lost to an AI trainer from full health. It basically doesn't happen, because the designers are uber-cautious about how much health you might already have lost.

Ah ok! Now I got it! Yeah, looking at this point it could be a good idea.

Thanks! Maybe I should have been clearer initially.

With Pokemon Moon and Sun leak, I don't think there's nothing to announce today. I just wonder if they're gonna show actual gameplay (hopefully yes).
