Props to the WiiU. I've had some really fun times with that console.

So those that bought a Wii U, are you happy with what you got? Are you happy with the 4 year production cycle of the console?
It's my favorite Nintendo console of all time and I started with nes, so I'm happy with what I got and will continue to have with it, but I'm bummed out if it's true that this is its last year. I don't feel it ever really reached its potential, but it's still my favorite by a wide margin. Most haters never even owned one :/

No it wasn't

The console itself was poison

I disagree. It wasn't perfect but I really enjoyed what it had to offer. The console itself, to me, was a welcome departure from the norm. Off screen play was fantastic and I really liked the gamepad itself. Even if it was just for the convenience of not having to interrupt gameplay to shuffle around in my inventory, I loved it. It never had a chance to really reach it's full potential. Also, there is no better motion control out there than the gamepad implementation in Splatoon. It is by far the closest and most comfortable alternative to mouse and keyboard. I hope the NX system keeps and refines the controller idea (it looks like they are) in the very least.

Agree with you.

Well no production or no, I'm gonna stick with the WiiU for a while before moving onto the NX. Nintendo may be ready to move on but I'm not, not yet anyway.

Hyrule Warriors
Splatoon
Mario 3D World
Mario Kart 8
Yoshi's Wolly World
Bayonetta 2
Wind Waker HD
Twilight Princess HD
Smash Bros

and the birth of Amiibo.

I definitely got my money's worth. One of my favorite consoles ever. Looking forward to Spla2n, Smash Bros NX, and Hyrule Warriors NX.

For comparison both last gen HD systems are still in production. If this ends up true X360 might outlive WiiU and it was launched in 2005. Crazily short production cycle.

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
Guess this all but confirms the NX arrives this year then.

I wish it was longer. There's so much untapped potential, but the writing has been pretty much on the wall for some time now. The way I see it, the average console length is 5 years. If its really successful, it becomes 6. If it flops, it becomes 4.

As a launch day owner I gotta say while I enjoyed my time with the console that barren first eight months or so were brutal. The software droughts still happened and I was counting on the Wii U (back in 2012) that it would be my console of choice and I'd get the first party games and regular third party support the other two got. I was let down.

I had a great amount of fun with Wii U. Probably more so than with any other console in recent memory. Will be onboard for NX day one.

Yup. Not a good look for Nintendo right now.

If you're going to discontinue the thing this early, the successor should be out there and in the public consciousness by now.

There was a pretty sizable gap (several months) between the winding down of the N64 and the first Gamecube games. I'm not sure if they officially stopped producing consoles, but there was almost nothing between early 2001 and the GC release in November. The gap between the Gamecube and Wii was similar, but in that case they had the benefit of Twilight Princess being cross platform.

This is really par for the course for Nintendo since the N64.

Too expensive to keep making it for so luttle return i imagine

Yeah. I agree it's probably sensible decision. It's just still pretty weird to see previous gen system to outlive current gen system. Only previous time I remember this happening is PS1 outliving Dreamcast.

Just saw Wii U trending on Twitter and wondered what happened. They probably have a year worth of extra stock. Hope it gets some dreamcast level discounts in 2017.

I do know how to provide source. I am not going to do the work when its not that hard to do it yourself.

Sheesh, simmer down.

The point is that it's very hard to do it yourself we've had no official sales data for Vita since... 4 million sold in January 2013? There's lots of speculation and estimations but nothing concrete.

Hence someone asking for a source. You saying "Vita did about 10 million" puts the onus on you to show us where you got that from.

THANK YOU SLAYTENDO FOR :REDACTED:
