Logic is a thing, you know. What are the chances of the second leak being real when it looked exactly like the first one and the leaker of the first one already confirmed that it was made by some guy using his model.

Calm down mate, hadn't seen the reddit post. No need to be quite so snarky.

TeamFake won. Shocking. Not. That controller looked like absolute garbage. Nintendo may be stupid sometimes, but they aren't that stupid. They won't abandon buttons.

This is the best GIF from the whole thing

Either Nintendo has somebody feeding bs to people that the NX whatever will have a device that's buttonless or maybe one of the NX devices are buttonless...so yeah lol

Very well done fake. I was convinced it was real. I'm not even mad, this was a very entertaining thread to read. Good job to the faker.

Referring to this:

We got some real information out of the whole thing.

Not really. It was likely a rumor he heard that he remembered after seeing the picture. The fact that he waited until after the image to mention it suggests the info on its own didn't have the credibility to stand on its own two feet. Hell, for all we know the people behind the image were the same people who sent him the rumor

Same comment as in the other thread. If he didn't pass the model to someone else, how is the back of the black controller similar with his model, as you can't see that in the white controller picture?

I can't answer that one, just passing on what I see in that thread. Most likely made it up to seem ergonomic.

What if all of this was fake...

...but Nintendo's still classified controller will still have no buttons?

Could the internet take that much madness?

This is in fact a real-world focus group testing by Nintendo itself. After the fiasco of Wii U gamepad, they have to have something that is well received by the majority of gamers worldwide.

It's all simple geometric shapes and really easy to replicate? Christ, I could knock out a decent looking fake in Solidworks if I wanted.

So two people produced in parallel the exact same model? (I'm talking about the back)

He said he heard it but was unable to confirm it. So that means nothing.

We're back to square one. The whole thing meant nothing.

Hrm, I still need information on the black pictures. I'm betting #Team3DPrinting

If it's anything close to this, NeoGAF will explode

Yeah that's my avatar. Are you implying I'm a child and/or a gullible fanboy?

I was originally firmly on team fake fwiw, and was swayed slightly by the 2nd leak. In the end I thought "Fuck it I hope it's real" and went all in. No shame here ;)

By the way, this thread has been the perfect opportunity for Sonic Adventure 2 quotes I am I very disappointed that I have not seen any yet.

We can't really see the back in either pic, especially not the black one

But reading the message on reddit again it seems that he did send the model to someone close and he things that someone produced the 3d print. Still strange, as if it was someone close you would thing they talked about it, but whatever.

We can't see the back?
We can see the bottom side, which has a thin straight strip on the white mesh and a thicker, curvy strip on the black photo.

back=bottom in my mind as the opposite side is still a side.

Regarding the second black one. The original faker does not speak english so his translation is a mess, but I can parse that the story is he sent the 3D model he made to a confidante because he himself could not print it and that guy is the one who made the black controller from the design he was sent.

curious fact:

that fake gave plenty of gaming sites precious clicks and put food on the table of their owners

all over nothing :)

Unfortunately. Fortunately.

Well, the period between now and April 27/28 will hopefully be frequented by actual facts about this system, stemming from earnings conference calls, patents etc. Likely very little, but at least something better than hoaxes.

Honestly, I wish he would've kept it going for a little while longer. Give us something to do until we get some actual information about the damn thing.

Haha! Ohh man, that was a great fake. The thread alone made it all worthwhile.

Can't wait to see what Nintendo actually has in store for everyone!

Sounds more like he got commissioned to make a 3D model and image by the guy who made the 3D print. The guy who made the model didn't need to be told any details, he was likely just paid to do it based on past work

You just hate leaks, huh?

The second leak came a few days after the first one didn't it? That's enough time to replicate it.

The point was that the white one doesn't show the bottom of the controller in the picture, but the render in the video is the same as the bottom for the black one.

The mass-marketing of 3D printing will lead to some very interesting trolling possibilities in the future.

Here's how it went down. Guy 1 decides he wants to pull a fast one on the internet. He looks for somebody (Guy 2) capable of making a believable 3D model and contacts Guy 2, offering to pay a sum to create the fake model and an image. Guy 2 sends Guy 1 the finished results, and the image is posted on the internet, while the 3D model is used with a 3D printer to create a physical fake by Guy 1. Guy 1 didn't bother to share the idea of 3D printing with Guy 2, since Guy 2 was only involved for the sake of making a model in the first place

Whew. I'm glad this was fake. I don't mind stuff like that, but the controller with no buttons just wasn't me. Didn't like the design, either. Let's hope the actual NX controller looks cool.

Remember, this came from patents that had touch buttons so it's possible they go that route still

But Idriss2Dev states that he's the creator of the render and he only share the render with a close friend (nothing about someone ordering it to him, he takes full credit for it) and he concludes that the black controller must be done based on the picture/fake, not the render.

More than likely, he curved the bottom to give it an air of legitimacy. A curved surface like that takes all of 5 seconds to do in a modeling program.

Who curved the bottom? Idriss2Dev or Perkele?
