Street Fighter V patch releasing March 28th, Alex on the 30th, more info

Runback feature is good.. However, they really need to fix RQ system.. I had 4 RQ on me this evening alone..

Yeah it's great. Although I got super salty when I lost to a scrubby Ken and he bailed after the first match.

Even more salty when you lose and get a rematch which ends in RQ.

New level of saltiness.

That is indeed that next level of Salt. So far I've only had RQ's on the first matches and none on the runbacks.

Lmao, just stop the pr bruh. They wanted 2 mil by the end of this month and afe nowhere close. This wasin additionto expecting it to have legs. What an embarrassing poster.

Being positive about a game or series you love (despite acknowledging its flaws) is not the same as being a company pr shill, nor is it "embarrasing" to want a game to do well enough in terms of sales to get (needed) updates and content patches.

I really don't get this negative attitude towards others on Gaf sometimes. If you don't agree with someone, and really can't keep silent about that, at least be like a gentleman in your rebuttal "bruh".

Edit: back on-topic: I like how Alex is shaping up but at the same time I am a bit baffled that PC people seem to be able to use him already in online ranked matches (I assume, going by some of those Twtich streamers) via data mining while I have to deal with being connected online to get FM for single player content in order for the game to verify my accomplishments. Isn't this two opposites in terms of security, with the hackers / data miners (who I have nothing against personally in terms of their efforts to uncover stuff, mind you) essentially doing the stuff that Capcom tried to prevent by complicating offline play for us single player folks?

Well if he actually is Combofiend, Lulubop must be "I'm Jim Goddamn Sterling Son" Jim Sterling, Marcus "AnnoyedGamer" Beer or a similarly crude critic then.

I guess the world / Gaf does need both to be balanced :)

I'm not sure this type of tutorial content was what I was looking for.

The demonstrations explain a very small selection of mechanics for each character and then the trials are "Do these difficult five move combos."

What about things like "Let's slowly go through what Ryu does in various situations like being attacked from the air, getting up from being knocked down, some basic and easy to do combos and when to use them, how to best initiate, what type of counters are good to use, etc".

Its definitely better than it was before, but if you can't practice and internalize these things within the context of the tutorial, then it will be a bit harder to grasp the concepts. There's a massive difference between reading about something and watching some one else do it versus practicing it and finding out through the game if you're performing the technique/concept correctly. They need to update these demonstrations to be more interactive in the future. Its still worlds away from what games like KI, Skullgirls, BlazBlue, and GGXRD offer in their training and tutorial modes.

I'm in the same boat with needing to learn stuff like that. Unfortunately, SFIV also had poor tutorial / combo training if I recall correctly.

I seem to recall hearing Skullgirls had decent tutorial(s).

Poor would be implying that it had some semblance of tutorials? SFIV literally had nothing in terms of tutorials. The combo trials were full of filler that should have never been there. It had one frame links, but gave no indication that you need to input the moves with specific timing, all it looks like to someone new to SF is the move isn't connecting but I'm doing exactly what it says on screen. It didn't even have a pre-recorded demonstration so you can see what its supposed to look like and what timing you should aim for.

A long time ago I posted my hopes that Capcom wouldn't add any dumb looking alt costumes and they would have kept them in the 'cool' realm.

Capcom has let me down right off the bat.

thats kinda bad tho

Clearly unfinished but even so it looks way better than the banana hair.

These aren't the only costumes we'll get. There will be a LOT of costumes in this game's lifetime and they'll have a variety of funny/badass/cool/witty costumes.

I know that this won't be the only ones left. What I said, though, is that I wish they wouldn't add any dumb costumes.

They added so many ugly "funny" costumes to SFIV by the end of the game that every character could look like a clone. It's the same thing that happened with TF2, they add so much ugly shit that it ruins the game's aesthetic. Stuff like R.Mika's alt costume are just a huge eyesore.

The worst part is that they'll just get uglier and dumber as they add more costumes.

Can't wait until the patch where they make everyone into a robot or an animal again.

Well they're not exactly going to change their strategy all of a sudden and not release goofy costumes. People like these costumes which is why they make them.

And some goofy costumes can be genuinely good like Zangief's Macho Man costume.

trying these combo challenges with a controller is a pain in the ass.

...Improving the game for casual players one SF game at a time eh Capcom...Sigh...(not saying you're a casual player but in general I mean)...

Also, in case we forget: remember that free stage they promised Season pass holders as part of a future update? While cool that there will be more stages added via the shop at all, I have a very strong feeling it will be one of the day/night variants seen in story mode ( like the daytime Kanzuki Estate) that should have already been selectable if you ask me.

I mean, keeping in mind Capcom's habit of announcing things like they are the second coming of Christ to then deliver stuff that borders on lazy (like Decapre - yes I went there), I have trouble seeing them deliver actual new stages (like the missing character art ones) this soon in the game's life, especially if the easier option is to have people pay FM for far easier to make day/night versions instead. I'll happily eat my words if I'm wrong though.

"Additionally, we will be giving all Season Pass users a free, brand new stage in the near future!"

The brand new part implies it's gonna be a new stage not a day night version.

Street Fighter isn't really the type of game that should have for having everything be "cool" imo. If they did it would limit them quite a bit creatively and artistically.

You take that back!

You'd be amazed by how well Capcom can stretch the meaning of "brand new" my friend. Would not be the first time. But like I said: let's hope I'm wrong.

What do u want a bloody alex trailer for?

Before monday's patch, to see how he plays whether you're using fight money or real mone-- resources are being put into "purchasing" this character either way.

And it also shows that Capcom are willing to communicate to let people know, Killer Instinct has not only shown how to do it, but they stole Capcom's Tuesday as well!

The plan in general is for Capcom to at least try and sell these characters to the players. Yes you can buy them with ingame currency, you can also buy them with real money. With that in mind, it seems somewhat appropriate to actually advertise them, surely. It's not exactly a bizarre request.

If they have a problem with Zenny currency why don't they allow players to purchase content directly from each platform's store with real money?

They may do that eventually. They offered a season pass that included six premium costumes so they have a few costume "bundles" that will save you money by buying them directly. I figure they could match what you would get for buying Zenny in bundles.

Capcom Blog said:
100 Zenny essentially equals $1. However, Zenny will be sold in several denominations, giving everyone choice and even bonus amounts depending on how much is purchased! Some of the options are listed below:

100 Zenny = Purchase for $0.99 / €0.99 / £0.79
550 Zenny = Purchase for $4.99/€4.99/£3.99 (receive a 50 Zenny bonus)
1200 Zenny = Purchase for $9.99/€9.99/£7.99 (receive a 200 Zenny bonus)
4000 Zenny = Purchase for $29.99/ €29.99/£24.99 (receive a 1000 Zenny bonus)

So you would need 6400 Zenny to get all 16 costumes meaning it would cost you, at the cheapest, $50 buying Zenny bundles. I imagine it would have to be a little cheaper than that, though.

Is it confirmed the DLC characters will be available for free in training mode, or it's just a rumor and wishful thinking ?

It's not wishful thinking for right now. Alex, and any DLC character, will be free until the Zenny system is implemented.

Yeah, like other GAFfers said, Alex will be free until Capcom implements real money purchasing on the Shop, which could be many weeks/months from now...

Honestly at this point they should just make him free indefinitely.

Although with how much fight money you can earn quickly (I have nearly 450,000) I doubt they would, otherwise they'd have nearly no character sales.

The thing is.. are you really going to play all those characters? So far I'm only maining Zangief and the closest character I'm looking to play next would be Alex and even then I'm not sure if I'll take the time to focus on him..

The mass players will be hyped for Alex a lot more if he was presented officially / properly instead of leaked footage + I enjoy character trailers overall.

I think we're passed that at this point.. Hopefully, proper trailers will show up for the next DLCs.. I'm more curious as to what Ono is doing and why he is so quiet..

That will be great

I don't need it now after the leaks but Capcom should care more about the marketing and media of the game overall.

There are Street Fighter V commercials on TV constantly, during multiple shows I watch.
The stupid assed hyperbole on here about doomed game horse shit is really getting old.
They are marketing the game just fine, an Alex trailer will not change anything nor will it convince a damned person to buy the game.
People who give a damn about Alex have known he is coming for a long time and have been counting days.
The commercials on tv are marketing, the pro tour is marketing, the events at cons all across the US are marketing, every top player out there gushing about the game and constantly tweeting things about how they love this game and how great it is is marketing, pulling the numbers that they have in the first two events for SFV compared to SFIV last year is marketing, stream numbers have been fantastic, and that is marketing.
It is embarrassing reading some of the posts in here.

Is anyone still able to log in to the game? Because I'm sitting here in the main menu and logged in right now while the servers are supposed to be down by now.

I tried to convert the maintenance times to GMT last night before bed half asleep, and came out with 2pm-6pm GMT. It's just coming up for 2pm. Maybe they announced the maintenance starting too early? Either way I'd expect the online to go down in just under 20 minutes.
