What's this about side quests? I don't remember the OG Ratchet 1 having sidequests.
If this is really five hours long I'm going to return this when it arrives. Insomniac is an excellent dev, but that's way too short, even for $40.
Sorry to disappoint you but the this game is rated E so you should know what to expect.
I understand this stance well enough, the first game has lot of design decisions that are very different to how things were handled in the later games (weapons weren't as important to the game, no strafing meant that game couldn't focus as much in shooting mechanics).
It's a double edged sword. In the other hand the later games brought lot of great mechanics that made the games simply more fun to play, strafin being the most critical one. On the other hand, the games also became much more shooting focused, especially starting with Up Your Arsenal. If someone dislikes that approach, that's fine to me.
I myself like the shooting gameplay lot, but I do sometimes miss the bit different aspects of the series, that first game, and to somewhat similar degree GC, still had. But I do think that many of the aspects in the original game have aged badly as well.
So, without spilling the beans, does it look like a return to form for R&C?

Yeah, my son always maxes out all of the weapons, and I'm guessing that still takes a long while to do.It's only 5 hours if you rush through the game on normal which everyone who are a fan of the series knows you don't do that.
Firstly you complete the main area, then you go the second path or vice-versa. Then you find the gold bolts and do the skill points in the levels. After then you move to the next planet.
You also have the Arena battles, weapon upgrading, brain collecting, hoverboard racing, card collecting, Clank segments and finally doing all again in Challenge mode.
That is more than 5 hours of content there and I say closer to 15 hours or 20 if you go for the platinum.
Nexus was a prologue to the future series and it was next meant to be a full AAA release compared to this title.
Sounds good!I really enjoyed my time with the game. In terms of style and humor, I think it's faithfull to the mainline R&C titles.
In some planets, there are optional stuff to do and Gold Bolts to collect (which unlocks things). Also, RYNO.
(I'm being vague on purpose because I'm talking about this new R&C.)
People expecting a game as good as the first R&C lmao. You'll get a glorified third person shooter like the 8 games that came after it and you'll be lucky if they kept any platforming/melee combat section.
I don't know how could some people be excited for this when the only game that wasn't a 90% "rawwwwr shoot everything explosions particles badasss waves of enemies everywheree" shooter was the first one, and this seems to fix that mistake by making it also another shooter.

It seems you already have your mind made up. There is no need to wait and see.15 hours to plat? That's far less than ACiT. This is all starting to sound underwhelming. Again I'll wait and see but sounds far closer to nexus, which also took about 15 hours to plat.

I...I can't even....

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with it. You just seem to already be leaning one way. Just wait.Oh bs I have the game pre ordered and paid off, I don't know why people jump to these accusations. If the game on average is finished in 5-7 hours that will be a big disappointment and I will wait just like I did with nexus.
Nexus was a damn good time but left me wanting more when I platinumed it in 2 days.
Good thing its not full price then. You can't what? Nothing surprising about someone not wanting to pay full price for a brief game if that's what you mean.

I never said anything about "shit posting".No you insinuated I had made up my mind and was shit posting.
5 hours would be a problem if that's the average. This same argument comes up anytime somebody takes issue with game length "oh well collectibles, oh well yeah speed runs, etc etc". Ultimately what I'm saying if you take both games and go through at average pace campaign only, one is 10-12 the other is 5-7 I wouldnt be able to help feeling underwhelmed, especially since I've been a fan of this series since day 1.

Okay.

How did this of all games draw such heated discussions? It's just good old Ratchet and Clank.

Ugh, why is Amazon being so ass?
It's giving me Thursday shipping for both DS3 and R&C.
That's some bullshit.
I would advise waiting until we can come to a general consensus before jumping to conclusions about the play time.5-7 hours....but it is $40.
Hmmm...
That's good GAF ignore the developer and other person who said the game is ten hours oif you play as you normally would in a ratchet and Clank game (standard length for these games) and just focus on the one guy who said five hours while rushing through on normal...

In the UK Amazon are one of the worst places to pre order from. Most online retailers will deliver a day or two early but Amazon are either on time or late. On the other hand, they are consistent here (unlike lately with .com).Ugh, why is Amazon being so ass?

It's not the full price of a completely different item, sure. $40 is still significant to plenty of people, and may not be worth it for 5-1- hours of play. Nothing wrong with buyers being discerning about the value they're getting for their money.

I guess in the States you don't have the same alternatives we do.
Do we know what time the reviews hit tomorrow?

"length reports"40 dollar price point is starting to make more sense based on the length reports..
Original game lasted 10-12 without having to switch to hard mode or do a bunch of collectathons.
This is literally half that. Kinda bummed :/
For the love of god, can you at least wait until we have more impressions from other people instead of focusing on one guy before you make such a statement?40 dollar price point is starting to make more sense based on the length reports..

EXACTLY!! Common sense here! One person reported 5 hours while more examples have shown it to take longer."length reports"
As in, one person.
