Angry Joe Quantum Break Review.

Like you compare this to the Easy Allies review, Easy Allies clearly paid attention to the game, story and knew what Remedy was all about.

Joe just fucks around on streams and tries to climb places he isn't meant to and is ultimately cynical of the cutscene show regardless of what it is about.

He's ultimately become a clickbait streamer in nature which is sad because some of his reviews are on point but his recent ones are just "It's bad because I laughed at something minuscule on my stream"

Well...this is a discussion thread for his review on Quantum Break. The point here is to discuss his review. Whether you agree, disagree, liked, or didn't like his review are all legitimate points of discussion.

Well yeah I agree with you, but if I was a huge Quantum Break fan and Joe gave it a 5 I wouldn't really care. Some people seem to really care. I already know that when someone inevitably gives Uncharted 4 a lower than average score compared to the rest that GAF will burn with rage. All of it is dumb.

The game isn't average. Joe just wants the views. Calling a game bad brings in more views.

Because people will take your opinion serious when you say things like that.

Why people care so much what one person thinks about their thing is beyond me. Who cares if they like it or not, all that matters is that you did. Leave those be that didn't and enjoy whatever it is that you like.

Because reviewers and YouTubers are influences. People will form their opinions and views from what the read and watch. I am sure A LOT of people will not buy the game because of Joe's review. When you like something you want to support the developers and see them succeed. Seeing something that goes against what you want/feel isn't what people like.

I didn't watch Joe play it but I watched Lirik play through start to finish and all he could say at the end was "meh" and i think he said he would give it a 5 as well. Having watched the entire game I would say a 5 is pretty fair imo.

I wouldn't know anything clearly. What is clear is that Joe provided video to backup a lot of his points, this is why his review is 30 mins long.

Can't you say this for ANY game he reviews "poorly" (a 5/10 isn't a poor score on his scale; just average). It is not possible for Joe to legitimately not like a game? It's all a secret plan for him to get YT views?

... It's like the game is constantly trying to focus itself after every movement.

That's actually a really nice way of describing what bad temporal AA feels like. The image only becomes clear once the temporal frame history stabilizes.

I may be wrong on this, but from what I understand they use the previous three frames reprojected to reconstruct with the current frame, to theoretically get 4x sampling (each frame is jittered slightly) - in order for it to work you have to reproject very accurately and be able to discard bad results (it's *really* hard). But as best I can tell, it *feels* like when reprojecting they only take into account camera motion, not per-pixel motion. Hence simply jumping on the spot turns the character into a blurry mess. :/

Or you know, the game deserved its
5
/10?

Maybe and that's his right to rate it whatever he wants, I just disagree that the game is just average. Just like I disagreed with a lot of his other reviews like Arkham Night(too low),Halo 5(too low), Aliens Colonial marines(too high) and Metal Gear V(way too high).
Hope to see Joe pop in say a word or two as that's always nice.

Side note:
I played and beat Quantam break on hard and really enjoyed it. With the powers you get I didn't feel the game needed blind fire or hip fire that some people wanted.

I agree with what you said, but that's not that YouTuber's fault. I just don't think people should direct so much hate at the reviewer for their opinion, the results of their opinion is irrelevant in that specific context for me.

Negative Press will always get more attention. I mean look at this thread.

I don't understand the need for live action cutscenes when they put together such a beautiful graphics engine.

I would imagine it would completely ruin immersion and take me out of the experience.Devs used to do that stuff back in the 90s when games weren't confident in their identities and didn't have the graphics to pull off such a story.

Now knowing the average age of most on gaf, it dumbfounds me how childish some of the comments in this thread are. It's somebody's well argued opinion, get over it.

This thread has 3 pages so far. His last review had 14.

Plenty of people didn't like it and have no financial incentive to say they didn't like it. I had an incentive to LIKE the game, since I bought it, and I fucked hated it by the end.

Why can't you just concede that maybe he didn't like the game? Especially when he gives you a half-hour video breaking down what he doesn't like, and also played through most of the game on stream.

You need to read more reviews ;)

Well...I mean...93 reviews on metacritic with 70 positive reviews. The sites I usually visit (IGN, Polygon, Game Informer, Eurogamer, Gaming Age) all enjoyed the story and delivery. I noticed EGM and Gamespot enjoyed the story but felt the delivery was underwhelming.

Why does angry Joe get his own thread? Why can't it go in the review thread like the other 50 reviews? Does Joe have enough clout to warrant his own thread on here? I don't understand, he got his own thread on the division as well, why?

Hahahah my god without fail, I need a AngryJoe bingo game or Drinking game.
Copy and Past from the LAST Angry Joe Thread, I swear something similar to this needs to be posted after every new AngryJoe thread.

"Joe puts more effect/time/production into his videos then any *traditional* Review site I know. His Reviews tend to generate alot of pages of discussion and while alot has already been said and done, I still feel like their a good source and Review for further discussion.

Joe is a GAF member and we as a community tend to celebrate our fellow forum member contributions especially in regards to Video Games. As said before some people for whatever reason get a pass for new threads while others are put into a OT.

Until a Mod comes in here and puts the foot down and says to make a Official Angry Joe OT thread then people will continue making them, don't mean to come off as hostile or any of the other posters here. Its just after..however many years of posting Angry Joe threads we still get people derailing it, either to insult Angry Joe himself (not the video itself) or to wonder why he gets a thread, it gets tiring"

I disagree with his score. This game is awesome and is a must play. I say that people should play the game and judge it for them selves.

I wish I could give my opinion, but the game crashes on PC and has HORRIBLE stuttering and optimization issues, last time I saw a game perform so bad on my rig was Arkham Knight.

So I'll wait for a pach or two.

Such a shame as I love Remedy with all my heart, but I just can't give them a pass with this shitty port.

But he had arguments.

The only thing I've seen in this thread to counter his claims is "He wasn't paying attention!" "he's complaining to much" or "It's just for the clicks"

Posting what you thought of the game would be more productive then downplaying someone else's opinion.

The game seems very average so his review is on point, but we're on Gaf where a game either suck or are the greatest of all time so some are not gonna like his opinion.

I thought of a lot of the same nit-picky stuff when playing the game, it's just how I am. I like to poke fun at stuff, I watch movies the same way. Stuff like calling her a "shit marksman" when she's standing a few feet away, and the inconsistencies from the live action to the game. That said, I still think the game was fun, even if it was cheesy.

One thing I totally agree with him on and I loathe when games do this.... particularly action games, is having a ton of reading material and things in the environment to read for back story and stuff. It absolutely destroys the pacing of the game. In a game like this, I want to just go go go. Move to the next room, fight more enemies, use my powers. You are flying and zipping all over the place the whole time, and then it's like "Hey just stop dead in your tracks and read 5-10 minutes worth of stuff." Just horrible for the pacing. It would be better suited, to find another way to implement back story and tidbits like that into a game than stopping what you're doing to read crap.

Many games do it, not just Quantum Break, and I loathe it in action games.

I fucking loved the game. But I'd say it's a ~8/10.
It's not perfect, but I can't help but not like it. *shrug*

is this reviewer important in some way? Never heard of him.

Well he has 2.5 million subs, so he's fairly important, a good or bad review from him probably has some impact on a games sales I would imagine.

Pretty poor review, weighed down by an enormous amount of hyperbole. Nothing out of the ordinary or unexpected from someone whose main selling point is being angry in video.

Not sure why this one deserved its own thread, and wasn't posted on the review thread, mind you.

I found the review pretty well done. The sticking points he had with it, like the world rule inconsistency and the boring gunplay I would have the exact reaction.

I've been pretty skeptical with this title, especially for full price, and this review that I've been waiting for specifically put this game on Black Friday duty for me. Unless MS give it GwL before that.
