There is so much more to do now that i have more experience. It'll be a good way to see the difference lol.

Omg Spirited Away is in my top 5 favorite movies was not expecting that. I plan on buying that as soon as I have some extra spending cash.
You could do tons of stuff with Spirited Away. The environments in that movie are just breath taking at times.

Was a bad week and i was really discouraged.. Bad sales kills my motivation that's a bad circle. Gives me the feeling i just can't continue doing that.. March would have been a catastrophe without the FFVI art. Every time i feel like i've reach a point where i can be safe, cause i have a lot of material selling regularly, enough to have many sales a day, there is a random fall in sales and i'm like: "Ok.. i'm not safe... maybe it's over and i've reached my peak lol" It's crazy to think i have to sell 100-150 posters, and not only small ones each month to make a small living. That needs a loot of new customers every month believe me... And it's crazy i've been able to do that and more for almost a year. But how many kotaku articles did it need lol. Also pc problem, lost almost two afternoons cause my pc wanted to check a disk before booting.
Anyway, i decided to pass that past week, which will make that month really bad. But let's move on. I'm progressing on the Metroid art. But people are demanding. It has to be the perfect scene and the art has to be really super good for it to sell well, and it's a lot of stress honestly for somoene like me who's struggling at base art rules, (i know people don't realize that but i'm really hit and miss as an artist and always struggling). How many times did i do my best for an art and it's just not clicking with people..
And next week i'll touch Tales of for the first time. After asking my facebooks followers, it'll be the Lloyd/Kratos fight in Symphonia.
Orioto, have you ever considered supplementing your video game arts with other things (either other pop culture things or something that would guarantee more sales allowing you to do the stuff you love more on the side)? Feeling discouraged about what you once loved is a bad situation...
I'm not discouraged as in i don't like what i do anymore. When i'm discouraged it's about how i can make a living with it, versus stopping all that and finding a job in a crappy add company or something. But i can't do that anyway.. I'm too wild of a pokemon.
And yeah well i'm doing that Ghibli series but i'm not good at it it seems lol. i didn't really find the right way to do it. I also want to do random movie / anime art like that, many things i want to do but that's a lot of photoshop time. Sometimes you need to have a break.
i'm also working on an original art cause i'd like to begin being an actual creator at some point.

Hell i'm tired of all this shit honestly... It's just too hard i'm just struggling too much... It's just too niche.. Even when i'm selling good it's really not fucking crazy. Like i sold 45 FFVI narshe posters in what, 5 weeks ? And that's the best i can do basically.. And everything else stopped selling.. With everything i did in the last months, it's almost dead.. If i don't have something that sells this month it's going to be a dead month.. Normally, the effect of months of popular posters should give me regular income but not even it seems.. Why the fuck do i even struggle...
I can't even find the strength to finish the Symphonia poster. And failure makes me really bad at everything i do..

Nah i can't. The problem is justly that if i don't create some hype / exposure with a new popular piece, sales go realllly slow. I have to refresh the hype every week, i can't rest..

Did you do something different with your Tales painting? IMO probably one of your best ones yet. It's so colorful and it really stands out.

It's messy.. But yeah indeed i wanted something more colorful cause tales of is really animeish.As for the spoiler i think if you don't know the game you don't see the characters names, and you don't recognize Kratos anyway lol.. It's a spoiler only when you know it

I played like half of the game years ago and to me this doesn't mean anything so no spoiler warning needed. Even knowing is a spoiler I still don't really get it (haven't thought much about it too so...
). All I know is it looks great. Love the dreamy hazy overlay.UnluckyKate

I'm trying to see if there is a reason for the low sales or it's just i've been doing a bad job in the last weeks.. I can certainly feel i've been less demanding with my own work, less fixing, less work on individual elements..
I clearly did too much of all that for too many months. I can feel my weariness.
That said this month is the worth i've ever had in a year in term of profit. Of course the Tales of symphonia poster will sell nothing. People are not even using it as wallpaper

I never know why a poster is selling or not it's a tough business... Is this one not selling cause the game is a little too fresh, or is it the way i composed it ? You never know, each decision on a poster can kill it or make it ... that's exhausting.

Don't forget the element of timing and exposure. A popular one might have been linked somewhere for whatever reason and was seen by more people. For example, I didn't even know this thread existed until a few weeks ago and I thought you just made some wallpapers a few years back

Yes it can matter indeed. But still, i can see the difference in popularity with the people who follow me, pretty clearly.
Nobody liked the Demon Souls one. The Dark Souls one was a super mega hit (Is it the particular moment in the game or the way i did it.. you never know..). The bloodborne one is slow but it may sell on the long run.
I'm going to try raise the bar and not be all depressed.. If it sells less, that means my last art has been bad and that's it!

Let's try with FFVIII intro. As it's a dream i can mix the fight and the petals/feather as it was in the editing.

Oh this looks great, cant't wait to see the final product! I will probably buy this when its done so it goes nicely with the Lifestream piece. I need to move out so I can have actual wall space to hang your stuff up.

Looks awesome! I promise to buy this soon! I have spent a lot of money on Muse 7" splits in the past couple of weeks so spending money is low ATM.
