Oh there will be droughts... HehWith this delay and crap Nintendo better make sure NX doesn't have a single game drought in its first 12 months.
It's so curious to launch a new console with a new Zelda in March. Could potentially see Zelda, Metroid, and Mario in the first 9 months. Of course this is hopeful thinking and based on the idea that Retro is making a new Metroid game.
Nintendo better be ready to market this bastard hard. I'm talking Super Bowl, college playoffs, Christmas, March Madness advertisements constantly flowing over the populace. Without an E3 showing, this is going to be rough to show how it works. It's not like your average person watches Nintendo Directs.
You mean more disappointment than they currently give?
No, I'd actually prefer them to show up demonstrating some semblance of competence, planning, and perhaps a little ambition to boot. You believe after last year's E3 they haven't had the opportunity? But hey, what am I saying? Nintendo obviously always knows best, exemplified by their current position and the nigh complete absence of software for the remainder of the year.
Right, who cares about E3? I eagerly look forward to the NX's unveiling by a corporate suit in a dull, bland white office in Japan through a Direct a few months before release. That'll really get me pumped for their new system and software.
If they didn't reveal it at E3, I at least expected it to be there.
Even if a 2017 launch was considered, an appearance at this year's E3 was expected.
Why is missing E3 a "death knell"? Do you really think the media will ignore Nintendo's huge NX-exclusive press conference with demo stations just because it's after E3??Missing e3 is crazy to me, I mean the hardcore Nintendo fans are going to buy it regardless but for people who aren't the biggest Nintendo fans missing a hype event like e3 is a death knell.
And I also find it funny that people believe the PS4K or xbone 1.5 have anything to do with Nintendo delaying. It's like people enjoy setting themselves up for disappointment. The nx will NOT be bought and sold on console processing power.
Happened with the Wii, Wii was pretty damn "new concept" but got Twilight Princess same as GameCube...What's also crazy to me is that NX will be a "new concept" but that Zelda will be totally playable on it.
So, how new can the NX truly be?
Sure, but that's because everyone believed rumors that it was launching in 2016
Edit: Top of page. Come at me.
I'm fairly certain this is not a reactionary move in regards to PS4K. To me it's more indicative of an unexpected shift in strategy or unforeseen internal complications within the company.Would they have time to change specs of the NX if it's not as good as the PS4k? I doubt it.
They're not even showing the system at E3. They have nothing ready to show 9 months before launch.
NX launch is going to be barren.
Which rumors? The only viable rumor that said 2016 was Trev. I've seen people mention Emily but I haven't seen the receipts on that lol.

Maybe the PS4 Neo/Xbox1.5 stuff created an oh shit moment for them when they realized they'd be underpowered again with whatever specs they were targeting for NX?
It'll have one hell of a booth display, that's for sure. And by God if there's more than a five minute wait time to play the thing - they fucked up hard. This Zelda must literally be the best fucking game ever if it's all they have at E3. They had more at PAX East for fucks sake.
Don't worry Nintendo knows how to roll bruv
Well the console is clearly too far off to show in June. So it would make no sense to show software for it before we've seen the hardware.
If there was nothing at all to show and no chance of anything being ready for March.......why would they slate it for March?
WiiU will have been left hung out to dry for the best part of a year by the time NX launches. And as I said in a previous post - unless you think Nintendo's various studios have been sat twiddling their thumbs for two years it's pretty simple to deduce that everything was shifted to NX some time ago.
Time will tell, but I think Nintendo are set up for NX's first year better than they have been for some time.
What's also crazy to me is that NX will be a "new concept" but that Zelda will be totally playable on it.

I think you're right here apart from the last two sentences. What average person watches E3 press conferences?
Sony and Microsoft didn't unveil their consoles at E3 either. It's just not that big of a deal anymore. It's good for a weeks worth of a news cycle and people quickly move on. They can announce NX at it's own event and maximize their coverage.

Letas be fair, the NX could come out anytime and it still won't compete against the PS4. It is destined to be a secondary system for people to play 2-3 first party games a year, then immediately go back to PS4/XB1/PC to play everything else.
This is a sign of how trash and unimportant E3 is and nothing more.
Me too, but only if it was reveled before hand.
In my mind, the options were:
Reveal before e3, show some more bits/further info at e3.
or
Reveal after e3, because it aint coming out this year
Ok, well not by me. After the WiiU debacle, I fully expected Nintendo to keep the reveal and launch as close together as possible this time round.
Would they have time to change specs of the NX if it's not as good as the PS4k? I doubt it.
The negative overreaction to this reminds me when Nintendo decided to stream a direct for E3 instead of a stage event.
I'm fairly certain this is not a reactionary move in regards to PS4K. To me it's more indicative of an unexpected shift in strategy or unforeseen internal complications within the company.
What also gets me is a lot of their games this gen were handled by at least partially outside studios. Bamco on Smash. Grez did the Zelda 3ds remakes. Plat worked on Starfox. Next Level is doing Metroid. Tantalus worked on TP HD.
A lot of their internal stuff has been out for a while. DKTF, Mario Kart 8, SM3D Land/World, Pikmin 3 ect... all dropped a while ago.
Nintendo trying to out do Sony on 1st parties being MIA with nothing to show at conferences.
Yeah that was it. Without that, there was no indication it was ever 2016 beyond the assumption AMD were talking about NX when they mentioned ramping up production of semi-customs late 2016
Wouldn't E3 help get people pumped for the NX? I'm confused.
It'll have one hell of a booth display, that's for sure. And by God if there's more than a five minute wait time to play the thing - they fucked up hard.
Speaking of PAX - what are the odds of PAX Prime being the first place where a hands-on is possible? September would line up a bit better with their March release target.
So would Nintendo holding a NX only event.
E3 is the event where Sony took control of the industry two years in a row. Sony's E3 before PS4 launch put that system on lock for being the console market leader for a generation to come. Sony's E3 2015 was a dream event that was talked about on major news networks. Caught both the eye of casual and hardcore.
Are you serious with this?
