Activision doing everything within their power to sell this game and get the studio back on track, bundling in MWR is just one more part of that.

In the Polygon feature about Advanced Warfare, Activision appareently went into crisis mode after the critical reception and sales decline in Ghosts. The studio head took an early retirement, they replaced him with a senior Activision producer, and went on a hiring spree, including the two guys from Naughty Dog and the multiplayer designer from the original Modern Warfare games. IW designed Ghosts to start a new sub series, so presumably Activision forced them to cancel that and work on something more in line with the other teams. It's not a surprise this looks so much like Black OPS 3 and the reveal stream had the MP team insisting how they play Black Ops 3 everyday and they've learned from its map design. Which is scary because 3arc and IW maps have always been polar opposites.

See above. Activision has already taken drastic measures with the studio for their first failure, I don't see them doing nothing if this is another sub-80 metascore and sells less than BO3/AW.

Off course they went into panic mode because Ghosts was just awful in every way from the singleplayer to the multiplayer with maps so big and so inconsistent it didn't fit what made CoD to be honest and this new infinity ward? Well at this point i still have no high hopes since so far what i talked about my friends they really want that MW Remastered instead and i don't blame them really. I don't think the MP will be like Black Ops 3 at all with this new one but i still find it hilarious in there PR they are saying we are going back to basics.

And now we are in space..where is the logic in that?

I believe they are talking basics narratively.

They said going back to the basics in that it's a war story. You're leading a ship into combat and fighting alongside fellow soldiers. From what they've been talking about on the stream that just ended with Playstation, you're a former Tier 1 operative, but your not black ops, your not the secret group.

Your a soldier leading a ship in a war against another army. You aren't fighting a terrorist group, you aren't fighting some consipriacy. It's basic to the basics of army vs army.

Look here IW. Do whatever you please with Infinite Warfare. Microtransactions out the ass, three $60 Season Passes, Zero-G maps on the moon, whatever.

But Raven? You keep those damn cancers out of my Call of Duty 4.

Yours Truly,
Jiggles

I think I can deal with the environment as long as we get rid of the whacky exo stuff and double jumps and wall running.

I posted it once before, but, what I want is this space war to end in a giant EMP or something then next game everything is back to basics. No Chappie-esque robots, no crazy guns and sights, just "boots on the ground" and AK's from the 70s.

This is great insight. I am a BF convert, because kill streaks and perks have been ineffective, or to convoluted for my liking. I consider Blops 2 to be the last good COD game.

What I don't know is if I am in the minority, or if this game just passed me by, does anyone recognize that shit has gotten stupid?

I just don't like this wall running flippy shit.

No? Because people still enjoy these games? Jesus, I feel like people are starting to really believe that CoD is dead. As if, somehow, their own personal beliefs, are the beliefs of many.

You're not the first person in this thread that is seemingly acting like they're the sane one and that everyone is crazy.

I know its not dead, its just been dead to me after MW3. I miss the days where the gameplay wasn't ridiculous. And there was more planning, plotting as a team and sight lines being used, not Titanfall 1.5.

I rememebr my team and I had to tlak and plan what we were doing on Crossfire, not jumpity jump on roofs and walk on walls etc...........

Im wondering will we ever have that back.

Since it seems they remade the entire game, I wonder if they reworked the weapons and other things for the MW multiplayer.

They are really killing the franchise lol Black Ops alone cant keep it up only launching each 3 years. not enough.

I guess people will keep playing Black Ops 3 for the next 2 years and half.
Wasn't AW generally received well, too? I eventually opted out of the out of multiplayer (too much sporadic movement for me), but I'm looking forward to its sequel in all modes.

AW was well received because Kevin Spacey did stellar acting in the game, multiplayer was okish but got tired of the exo suit bunny hopping.

Thats what's driving me crazy! They put out a whole video about honoring the heritage of Infinity Ward and it ends with them talking about how badly they want to get rid of all that.

You're not alone, there's just way too many sci fi "enhanced" movement shooters out there right now. If another Destiny expansion comes this fall alongside Infinite Warfare and Titanfall 2, not to mention Battlefield either being alternate history or future... one of these games is going to pay the price for the pver saturation.

The bright side is we're getting MWR and it's looking fantastic.

Honestly if you guys aren't even going to read, what's the point even? They already have explained what they meant by going to the basics. "Call of Duty®: Infinite Warfare returns to the roots of the franchise where large-scale war and cinematic, immersive military storytelling take center stage."

It's literally in the description. You guys think they're referring to te gameplay, when they never meant it towards that. This thread is becoming more and more of an echo chamber with every post.

Holy crap, the dislikes are almost even with the likes with only a hundredish difference.

Dislikes are more than the likes now..looks like people are really tired of sci fi CoD and want to get back to the real basics. People will buy the game even if it is for MW Remastered even if it has 10 maps which is just weird because my guess the rest will be in the season pass but people will play that more anyway and leave IW all behind.

Hmmmmmm, very interesting about the dislikes.
Activision probably doesn't care, they hedged its success with MW:R exclusively in the more expensive SKU.

Exactly what I missed in some of the recent campaigns. The parts where you were fighting through the suburbs with the army in MW2 stands as my highlight of those campaigns. I even enjoyed CoD the big Red One because it felt like you were fighting as a small part of a much greater whole while feeling it when you were losing guys along the way.

I've wanted CoD in space since like 2008. Its been a long time coming for me, will be a sure buy as long as it gets decent review scores

Hopefully there a nice number of laser weapons. All ballistics would be kinda lame

So, if you have an xbox one the deluxe edition is 99 instead of 120 like it is at gamestop. no clue how the ps store looks.

Am I the only one who thinks this looks sort of cool?

People always wanted COD to do the whole "Future Warfare" thing, and now they're finally doing a game set in the distant future. I think the main problem is that the previous two games ruined the impact by dipping their toes in the setting without fully jumping in. Infinite Warfare is the kind of game I pictured they would make after the Modern Warfare trilogy. If the game's title is a reference to The Forever War, then it could turn out to be very interesting.

I will say that the game looks pretty generic though, which is a shame considering the original Infinity Ward used to have really strong art direction:

Hilarious and saddening at the same time

It indeed is. But man why the hate for Advanced Warfare? I get the exosuit abilities ruined the core experience for fans, but the campaign of AW was nothing short of stunning. It surpassed both Black Ops I and II which had the best set piece action moments previously in COD.

Just curious, have you played MW1's campaign?

Ya, like I said, I'm comfortable that it's in good hands with Raven.

kind of saddens me Raven is never given the full chance to go at it for story. They are stuck in multiplayer mode and stuck doing other peoples ideas. Which means they get the shit end. They developed the two worst multiplayer games.....but due to design not gameplay. Ghosts and AW.

Would love to see Raven get the 3 year cycle and a chance at a full title outside of the remaster. Hoping this pushes them to that mark and knocks IW to the assistant studio.

For most people cod lives and dies on the multiplayer suite. Even when you have the best campaign in years, if the multiplayer is not up to snuff the fanbase will turn against you.

Of course I have, it was spectacular. Sorry for not mentioning it. MW2 surpassed MW1 in it's campaign. MW3's pacing felt iffy, and the execution of the campaign missions felt inconsistent, still a fitting conclusion to the trilogy campaign-wise.
