(Rumor)(spoilers) this Possible UC4 Easter Egg oh boy

Even the Sonic Retrospective threads didn't have 'Sonic should die' until at least the 20th post or something........

I guess people hate the popular thing?

Because people are stupid and want to find any reason to shit on someone for being excited about something.

I'm glad this wasn't what I thought it was.

Someone posted a huge spoiler in the early copies thread and it got deleted and it was apparently about this Easter egg. But this Easter egg is different than what they talked about so maybe the spoiler is fake.

When this happened on screen I could not stop grinning. It was so fun!!

What are you guys talking about? I'm confused.

Activision isn't credited in the game but they are in the art book so you think Sony bought the IP?

Basically; this is a recent deal with Uncharted 4, so if Sony isn't crediting Activision, then they must own the IP in some fashion at this point.

They DID NOT when the art book was released (thus Sony/Naughty Dog legally had to cite Activision as owners of the Crash IP).

What if Sony retains the rights to the 3 first Crash games?

Nintendo owns the rights for Bayonetta 2, a Platinum IP.

People are just making a lot of assumptions based on a credits sequence.

Yep, a place where most Legal information about IP rights and the like is listed :).

Until stated otherwise, I believe Sony owns the IP again and Naughty Dog has SOMETHING cooking to celebrate the series anniversary (outside of the UC4 easter egg).

Then they'd have had no problems putting the art from those games in an artbook based on those three games without crediting Activision.

But they did.

Sony owns the IP. It's really beyond debate at this point.

What can be speculated is if Naughty Dog is doing it in-house (a resounding Yes I think) or someone else.

If I wasn't so busy playing the game, I'd sit through the credits and take a screenshot or make a video of it all in case I missed something (I don't think I did).

But alas, you gents will have to wait a bit.

Believe it or not, I am a Sony employee in the east coast area and we didn't even know about the Last Guardian until the day of E3...everything is pretty tight regarding "huge" surprises...

And no I do not know anything about Crash, I don't believe I am "high" up on the chain for information to be released.

If you are, you should probably let a mod know for verification purposes

Woah baby, thats amazing!
Gah, okay. Gimme about an hour though. Not home atm.

I think you've provided enough evidence and your word would have quite frankly been enough. However a video would be concrete evidence to convince all of GAF. I saw a bit of discussion about making a thread, do we think its too early? I guess Crash being in the game is kind of a spoiler but this is huge news.

Nah, this is a huge spoiler. Wait for the game to come out.

Naughty Dog Interview June 2015 said:
AVC: If you were to embed a playable retro title into your game, what would it be and why?

BS: Well, there’s actually been a conversation about if it were at all possible—which it’s not, let me emphasize—but we wanted to put a Crash Bandicoot game inside. Not gonna happen, though. Don’t worry.

AVC: Certain people would’ve loved that, though.

BS: Yeah. It’s not our title. Sony doesn’t own it, so we don’t have control.

That was last from last year. Now that there is a Crash game in UC4, they have to own it right?

You have always consulted the credits through the main menu?
Not to be nitpicky and have you do more work, but what are the odds for the credits at the end of the game to be "different" from those ones?

It remains a spoiler. Making a thread would serve no purpose other than spoiling the game for people, and enough sites will report about it on Monday that it'll get a thread next week.

I posted that early in the thread, yeah. It's the most concrete piece of evidence in my eyes. It makes sense to be like "You don't play as Ellie" to hide that as a surprise, but no one in their right mind would ever think "Uncharted 4 could have a mandatory Crash minigame in the main story." The best way to hide that would be to not bring it up at all. He went way too indepth, and gave way too clean of a reason -- one that almost seems to SET UP this speculation 10 months later.

Well I got no tucking idea what is going on then.

They could have deliberatly hidden it from the credits for spoiler reasons but that seems like something you do on the credits on the options menu and then the end game credits are accurate.

Ill assume someone from ND will clarify on this next week. My bet is still on "it was something we wanted to do but we thought we couldn't since we dont own the IP but we asked Activision and they said go for it and signed off on it"

Or they actually traded for it and now Activsion owns Lemmings and Qbert and we wont actually know until after release day

Buying up IP rights is a rare thing, must have cost them a real pretty penny and I am surprised Activision would actually let it go and not, like every company ever, just sit on the rights indefinitely and license it out.

Even Konami won't sell off its IP rights to franchises it is likely to never pursue in any capacity.

Also active listings of Crash on the App Store still credit Activision.

And PSN listings of Crash 1-TR still list Universal Interactive Studios, a company that hasn't existed since 2002.

Seeing Activision in the credits would just mean this was an exceptional cameo but clearly they're not even mentioned. It's just more evidence of Sony owning the rights to working with the franchise, or perhaps more.
