The Witcher III: Blood & Wine |Reviews Thread| Pour another goblet

Near end of game spoilers. I am currently at
the part where I have gathered the lodge of sorceresses to fight against eredin
Should I do the expansions from where I am or am I already past the point where they are set?

You can do them after the final fight. Better to do it that way since you'll gain a lot more experience points with those quest than the ones in HoS. In terms of story, nothing in HoS is deemed as events that are involved with or happened prior to the final quest.

The dev also recommends that you start BoW after completing the game for the full experience of that expansion pack.

Nope, my advice is to finish the main game first. In HoS there's some dialogues change that reflect your action in the main story... Btw, the war is not really ended yet in HoS, but a war don't end in a minute.

the expansions are both basically meant to be done after end-game due to their levels.

If you do them after end-game you will get some different dialogue here and there anyways, at least for HoS.

Honestly at this point just finish the main campaign and try to end the game at least at level 32-33, then begin hearts of stone and then go to Blood and Wine. They are both completely separate from the main campaign anyways

Just spend two hours leveling up from 38 to 39 so I could wear the viper gear. I'd already beaten pretty much every quest available to my level in the main game and Hearts of Stone, so I had to go around to every point of interest I could to get 2000 xp. It was a bit tedious, but it helped get me back into the world and reminded me why I love this universe so much.

I'm not ready to say goodbye to Geralt yet.

Just got an insane amount of hype for this literally this morning. Went and preorder the physical LE from Gamestop.

Probably won't start it right away as I have to finish R&C first. Then I want to do some quests I missed in the base game.

Eventually getting the DLC. I stopped playing last year even though I enjoyed it. Just had so much other stuff to play. I'm at Pyres of Novigrad. Anyone know about how far along I am because I honestly don't remember.

Man, the grandmaster feline set looks so good, makes me wanna go back and upgrade my feline gear from superior, if only the scavenger hunt quests weren't such a pain. I love the hooded look of some of the armors from Witcher 2.

Man it is going to take me a couple of days to relearn playing this game. Just reloaded a post game save from September of last year

No kidding, after Dark Souls, I fumble around with this. I loaded the game up yesterday and accidentally threw a grapeshot bomb in a crowd. Woops.

Ok I just booted the game up for the first time since finishing it last year on the 1.07 update and I was going to go through Hearts of Stone but none of my saves are showing up. Is there any reason for this?

edit-

Is it true that disc saves in the UK are recognised differently to digital saves so my save for the disc version of Witcher wont work with the digital I just bought?

edit 2 -

Turns out its fucking true, at least for the Witcher 3.

Two hours!? Ugh. Props to you, dude. That's dedication.

I used the "Path of Warriors" quest glitch to get 50 XP every 5 seconds or so from talking to the guy who initiates the quest. My Geralt was only short of 800 XP from reaching level 39, and I really didn't feel like farming monsters for meager amounts of XP. Any prior levels were earned legitimately, though...lol

Look up the location for Mastercrafted Feline Gear on the internet...lol. I know it's on an island in Skellige. You'll only need to grab three chests - armor set, silver sword and steel sword. Pretty sure all of the armor pieces are found in the same chest per upgrade. At the most you'll probably waste ten mins including use of fast travel.

My preload for BoW is all set. Gracious of Sony and Microsoft to have it downloaded and playable the second it unlocks. Did Heart of Stone have a preload as well?

I looked up the Beehive trick on Youtube.

I never did it yet, but my biggest concern is what happens to all of the corpses after you're finished doing this.

I really don't want a pile of bodies to clutter my game world. Do these corpses eventually go away after awhile or are they persistent every time one loads the game?

They all disappear as soon as you fast travel.

I booted TW3 up last night and saw I had a side quest (to get alchemy knowledge or something), so spent about 30 minutes on that just to get back in the groove of it.

I'm so unbelievably excited for this expansion. TW3 was my favourite SP game since Portal 2 & Hearts of Stone was brilliant, little doubt this will be excellent too.

Thread made me re buy the base game. I originally bought the game at launch got, got super interested but the plot lost me with the body double play. I saw that it was on sale and decided to give it another shot. Plus im sure all the bugs have been ironed out by now.

One other question, for anyone that may know (I know it's still early), but do any characters from HoS appear in B&W? Spoiler tags, obvs but was curious if there are any cross-quests between the two.

None in the flesh so far but one particular character is mentioned in passing, complete with their theme song

I've asked something similar to this and it was answered, but I have to follow up: if I bought the expansion pass and had the game generate a character for me for HoS, could I then use that same character for a B&W later on? Essentially, are the game's premade characters only used for individual playthroughs? Or does the game basically give you a completed game save? Thank you.

I think it would be a matter of game saves. You'd just have a new save file with a fully leveled up Geralt, don't save over your previous file and you should be good.

Is there no Viper grandmaster armor?

It doesn't seem so :(
