Yeah, I really hope they didn't ditch that for Superman, Suicide Squad seems like a far better fit for a game.

Naw, much rather would have a Superman game than something that would just play like a generic shooter or Arkham clone. Supes's game would be something nobody else is doing.

Assuming there are around 24 characters on the disc (12 heroes, 12 villains) like NRS' last few games, there isn’t much room for change from the previous installment.

Using the heroes as an example, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg, and Green Arrow are practically guaranteed, and I can’t see them cutting Shazam or Nightwing. That leaves only two (or three) spots for Raven, Hawkgirl/Hawkman, Batgirl, Martian Manhunter, Zatanna, Supergirl, Black Canary, Static, Booster Gold, Blue Beetle, Firestorm, Swamp Thing, Rorschach, and a bunch of other popular characters.

I’m curious to see what NRS does.

Grundy is surely gone.

Such a shame, they did an excellent job on his design.

He was also such a fucking random character, especially part of the initial announced roster.
All those heavy hitters, and Grundy.

Like a "Tech Batman" around his gadgets, "Brawler Batman" around closer combat and "Shadow Batman" around counters.

They could make the style variants actual alternate universe counterparts. So, they could have a "Regime Superman", a"Justice League Superman" and maybe "Ultraman" that would have different skins and quotes tied to the different moveset variations.

I don't think it was because of the grittines, i mean, there where Amecomic skins for some of the women in the game, so silly skins definitely existed.

I think it's more about who owns the rights to the Flaming C, im guessing WB didn't want to play ball with paying a licensing fee to add a joke skin only conan fans would understand.

Speaking of Static, how faithful is the cartoon to the original comic? Wasn't the cartoon helmed by the actual creator?

The comic got into some heavy shit.

It's honestly not a bad idea. No refunds is something they need, and since no large numbers of people will buy the PC version anyway a combined player pool is almost required. And Killer Instinct on Windows 10 is absurdly better than any previous Mortal Kombat PC release so it's not like the platform would hold them back.

I think it makes a decent amount of sense from their perspective. They have a hostile audience on PC. People will get pissed off by the mere idea of them releasing a PC version. But what if Microsoft's tools let them use the Xbox version code base, keeping it in step with the Xbox version and combining the PC player pool with the Xbox, just like KI did?
Isn't that the idea with Microsoft's platform push?

Would PC users look at that any worse than them saying, hey we're gonna do the Steam version right this time, trust us. The Steam PC online community will be DOA even if some people actually give them another chance. Why not try something that makes development easier and potentially gives the PC a viable online community?

My take is they can keep their PC version, and they'll be hard pressed to get my support in general after Batman and MKX, but if the Xbox version got me the Win 10 PC version and vice versa via cross buy, I might consider it. Again, very low odds, but not really that crazy all things considered.

I guess they could still make a Steam version crossplay now like Rocket League. Still it seems like they'd be sending the PC version out to die.

I feel the same way. It's something completely different and separate from the Arkham games but can establish itself within the same universe. Based on the concept art that was posted I like the way they present Superman. It could allow for a great new series on par with Arkham.

I'll be staying the hell away from the PC version. Most likely get the PS4 version since that'll be tournament standard and guaranteed to run well.

Day 1 for Xbox One if true. If they have a port coming to the NX I'll wait and see if WB wants to give a damn about Nintendo this time. I would have owned Injustice on Wii U if they actually supported it fully with the DLC, but they didn't and I had to settle with 360's awful d-pad.

I really like WB fighters and I enjoyed injustice a tonne. That said I'm moving towards playing most games on PC and I'm really cautious about buying Injustice on PC if it's going to get the same level of support as MKX did. They fucked over that community real good and proper with KP2.

Don't know if I can get the same shit again WB.

Grundy was there to show that they had made adjustments to make "big" characters playable, which stopped Goro and what have you from being in MK9, wasn't he? But yeah, he's totally gone- no chance.

I imagine we lose Grundy, Ares (Unless he's the secret big bad of the WW movie?), Killer Frost, Bane, Raven, and Zod. I could see either Black Adam or Captain Marvel being rolled into the other's moveset if there are styles like MKX. I wonder if that'll be the big differentiation between this and MK going forward- stances in MK leading to smaller rosters, and larger rosters with less options on the characters in Injustice, because there's really not a ton of wiggle room for them on a new roster, if it launches around the same size as they usually do.

Honestly this game would be an instant 10/10 if it had playable Bleez.

Something tells me Atrocitus will make it instead of her, though.

Well, since the first one had an Arrow costume with Stephen Amell recording a costume specific voice over, maybe the new one will have a Flash costume with Grant Gustin recording a costume specific voice over. Same with Supergirl and Melissa Benoist.

I would die.

I'm still waiting for my pre-order bonus for my Wii U copy of Injustice 1. Until I get that, I'm going to hold off on the sequel.

NetherRealm Studios finally has really good netcode with the MKXL update. Online should be awesome on consoles.

I would cut:

Ares, Bane, Doomsday, Hawkgirl, Killer Frost, Grundy, Batgirl, Lobo, Zod, Scorpion at the bare minimum. Most of these characters are awful, unmemorable or redundant in concept (Zod/Batgirl).

I'd like to see Firestorm, Darkseid. Dr. Fate (or John Constantine), Hunter Zolomon, Atrocitus (or Bleez), Beast Boy, MMH baseline.

They need to go crazier with the skins too. They could have easily made a cheetah skin for Catwoman, Jay Garrick/Wally West/Bart Allen for Flash, and Guy/Kyle skins for GL.

Does DC have the video game rights to Milestone characters?

DC own the characters outright, as well as the company. There was a crossover event that merged Milestone with the DCU proper (prior to Flashpoint), and Icon, Rocket, and Static appeared in Young Justice as an outright part of the setting, rather than how Static Shock was retroactively welded into being part of the DCAU.

Edit: Okay I am woefully misinformed on that matter. Apologies.

If the game does exist, then I kinda feel sorry for Netherrealm. It'd be twice now that their game development has been caught across a DC reboot of some fashion ("Rebirth is not a reboot and never was" yadda yadda), and I can imagine that can leave them with kinda difficult questions as to what approaches to take with characters. Yes, they've got the continuity argument to back up say, not having to make their Superman be Clark White, but I still imagine there's a lot of pressure to be close to the comics where they can - after all, this is a platform where you can advertise stuff that hasn't necessarily gotten into popular culture outside of the comic readers.

I feel the best way to give Injustice characters different styles without copying MKX would be to let you select different abilities on the Special button.

I really, really hope they overhaul the art direction and we get some animation on the level of MKX. Injustice was far too clunky and hideous for me to enjoy. But it's NetherRealms so it's sure to be ugly, regardless.

Seems DC and Milestone media entered a publishing deal, but nothing beyond that.
