Oh thank god I was able to get three friday tickets. We only wanted day one so I'm happy we were able to get them.

Gone every year except last year and 2012 due to scheduling and I was absolutely torn apart. This queueing system is stupid but fair is fair.

Got me and my friends in for Friday and Saturday. Here's hoping our media application gets approved when that opens up and we can sell these off.

I was thinking more a captcha or any kind of effort to stop bots, but as has been discussed at length in years past PAX doesn't really have much motivation to stop bots. Sales are sales.

As ticketmaster can tell you - bots annihilate captcha.

Also, the vast majority (80+%) of ticket sales are people buying only one or two sets - not generally bots. Bots aren't the reason the tickets sell out.

People are.

Well... 4/5 years at PAX I'll be buying from scalp land.

Why does PAX refuse to tie badges to names like Comicon?

Comic-Con badges aren't any easier to get (I'd argue they are harder than PAX). Tying them to names won't make it any more or less of a pain to get. Basically, demand is 2 to 3x the available badge numbers (due to size of venue). They're maxed out at other PAXes to try to lower demand that way..but there's not much else they can do besides wait for the convention center expansion to finally happen.

This was going to be the 10th year in a row I would travel out to PAX for this, but decided not to even try to go this year. Part of me will miss it, but Riot Fest has started being the same weekend and I really regretted not going to see the acts last year, so decided I would rather go see music. Also, have a bunch of medical bills to pay, so going to Riot Fest is cheaper.

The queue system is incredibly broken. I've been stuck like this for the past half-hour, and I haven't been transferred to the actual page.

They finally fixed the queueing bug where you were able to skip the queue and order again if you already placed an order, thank the heavens

Got passes for all 4 days. Also booked a hotel at the Rosevelt, but I didn't get a confirmation, that's a bit disconcerting.

Queue system is making me scratch my head.

Glad you had the luxury of getting some "just in case" badges.

Honestly, they could clear up some space just by opening & clearing media registration before they sell badges. Just about everyone who goes as media still purchases badges as a backup plan, which is taking up a non-trivial amount of stock.

Yep got through the hotels first somehow despite doing that 5 minutes later.

If I miss out. Someone hook me up.

I know what you're saying but it's a factor of peace of mind and putting a barrier between scalpers and tickets sales. It hurts less knowing you got beaten to a queue by people wanting to actually go and not make money off it.

Still in queue....

I wouldn't be surprised if they get a lot of...dubious media badge requests. But IIRC media badges also take up from the total stock of badges that can be sold.

There will be a thread where people can offer their passes for sale, right? I seriously don't want to miss out going to PAX this year.

I might be needing a NeoGAF friend to halp me and sell me a ticket = (

I queued up 20 minutes ago, but it's likely not to be enough. I HAD TO BE IN THE SHOWER, UGH

Last I heard (2014?) 94-96% of badges sold online were non-scalper, one to two sets. The vast majority of people getting beat for badges are getting beat by people wanting to go. Most physical scalpers in Seattle sell their tickets from folks who can't make it at the last second best as I can tell.

This is what you get for showering! So far tickets seem to be holding steady so hopefully you get what you need :(

Still why not developing a system for it can't be that difficult can it?

If I get in how many badges can I buy? I'll pass on some tickets to Gaffers in need if possible.

Do they? I got media access last year, and that came a few weeks after main badge registration. I always assumed they accounted for x number of badge requests, and determined the most qualified people out of who applies.

Limit is 4 per person.

So 1 set per person essentially. Guess it's always been that way it just you used to be able to get them for friends by getting the weekend passes (never did, nearly impossible).

I've been in the queue 40 minutes. Isn't looking good.

Every time when I think I'm being transferred to the ordering page, it just refreshes the main queue page. Is anyone else experiencing this?

$45 this year, $40 last year, $35 in 2014.

I had fun going a couple years ago, but it was really crowded and I doubt things have improved much since then.

What's the time limit on the hotel queue? I got through that one, but nothing on the badges yet. I don't want to book a hotel if the badges don't go through...

1) No such system is known to exist - otherwise everyone would be using it. Concerts / Broadway / Comic-Con / etc all have the same problems. At least they're not using Ticketmaster ala Valve and The International. Basically, the more advance notice you give people, the higher percentage of tickets that scalpers end up with. Lotteries, etc etc. The article I linked kind of goes through and explains why most of the known alternatives don't work

2) 4 sets (16 badges total)

Limit is 4 per person.

Not sure - I think they just use historical numbers and possibly add X%. That'd be an interesting question to ask Robert. A lot of typical media also comes in as exhibitors / panelists (IGN, etc) as well I think.

My personal belief is that they'd love to get rid of Media badges as a whole. :p

If you got in the queue before 1:15 PST - you should be OK.

And the struggle is over. Got my badges! Good thing I didn't need to run my business for the last hour. xD

My friend got in queue 45 seconds before me and completed his transaction 30 minutes ago. What a thing.
