Sunday badges are also down to low availability.
Got me and my friends in for Friday and Saturday. Here's hoping our media application gets approved when that opens up and we can sell these off.
I was thinking more a captcha or any kind of effort to stop bots, but as has been discussed at length in years past PAX doesn't really have much motivation to stop bots. Sales are sales.
Well... 4/5 years at PAX I'll be buying from scalp land.
Why does PAX refuse to tie badges to names like Comicon?
The queue system is incredibly broken. I've been stuck like this for the past half-hour, and I haven't been transferred to the actual page.
Queue system is making me scratch my head.
Glad you had the luxury of getting some "just in case" badges.
As ticketmaster can tell you - bots annihilate captcha.
Also, the vast majority (80+%) of ticket sales are people buying only one or two sets - not generally bots. Bots aren't the reason the tickets sell out.
People are.
Comic-Con badges aren't any easier to get (I'd argue they are harder than PAX). Tying them to names won't make it any more or less of a pain to get. Basically, demand is 2 to 3x the available badge numbers (due to size of venue). They're maxed out at other PAXes to try to lower demand that way..but there's not much else they can do besides wait for the convention center expansion to finally happen.
Honestly, they could clear up some space just by opening & clearing media registration before they sell badges. Just about everyone who goes as media still purchases badges as a backup plan, which is taking up a non-trivial amount of stock.
Does charging happen immediately?
I know what you're saying but it's a factor of piece of mind and putting a barrier between scalpers and tickets sales. It hurts less knowing you got beaten to a queue by people wanting to actually go and not make money off it.
Still in queue....
I might be needing a NeoGAF friend to halp me and sell me a ticket = (
I queued up 20 minutes ago, but it's likely not to be enough. I HAD TO BE IN THE SHOWER, UGH
Thank god. Finally got in and got all 1x for all 4 days and all my nights at the Hyatt.
Last I heard (2014?) 94-96% of badges sold online were non-scalper, one to two sets. The vast majority of people getting beat for badges are getting beat by people wanting to go. Most physical scalpers in Seattle sell their tickets from folks who can't make it at the last second best as I can tell.

I wouldn't be surprised if they get a lot of...dubious media badge requests. But IIRC media badges also take up from the total stock of badges that can be sold.
Still why not developing a system for it can't be that difficult can it?
If I get in how many badges can I buy? I'll pass on some tickets to Gaffers in need if possible.
Limit is 4 per person.

Do they? I got media access last year, and that came a few weeks after main badge registration. I always assumed they accounted for x number of badge requests, and determined the most qualified people out of who applies.

When did you get in the queue?

I've been in the queue 40 minutes. Isn't looking good.
What's the time limit on the hotel queue? I got through that one, but nothing on the badges yet. I don't want to book a hotel if the badges don't go through...
