Can we all conclude at the point our Exit Polls and Pollsters in general are shit

I have said that all along, but got called out on it because apparently these polling companies are extra specially great at doing all this extra specially specific crap with weighting and fancy algorithms.

Polling is complete and utter guess work and have about as much authority as a Mystic Meg prediction.

See that's fine. We disagree. We can disagree.

But it's apparently become acceptable to just say leave voters are thick and racist, and it does make me a bit sad. It's just a difference in political opinion.
A difference in political opinion which is definitely going to fuck over our economy in the short term and there are absolutely no guarantees it'll make it better in the long term.

If we get flooded by immigrants trying to beat the deadline I would expect emergency measures to be passed blocking them
Well, unless they change our laws, they'll have a hard time doing so as we still have pretty solid control of immigration compared to anywhere else in the EU, at least until we leave. Again, leaving will ironically (considering farage's stupid campaign) make us more likely to have to loosen the controls on EU-specific immigration so they'd have better luck AFTER we leave :p

I wouldn't be too hasty. Germany may not want to be overrun by a bunch of refugees from the United Kingdom.
Heh :3

I think it's worth saying that Leave will get a significant elderly vote. A group who are disconnected from the economy by protections from the government and recent tax cuts on savings.

Plus people might not say their true intention.

How we're feeling

Ain't that the truth :( Done serious damage to this bottle of wine, and there's a bottle of rum in the pantry (and technically five gallons of beer in a fridge).

Excited and nervous to see Warrington's results. It's my hometown, I feel like it could go either way. There are some quite affluent areas but the town has gotten really run down since 2008.

Some of the rural people in small towns in places like Northern England already have it bad, and they feel left out.

They probably figure on a micro level welp I already have it bad now so a remain keeps the status quo. Leaving might shake things up and make it better.

This is even though on a macro level all of the data seems to point to this being worst economically for all.

So exactly why people are voting for Trump.

Well, if you take out the racism.

The polls have been getting tighter, with some lately giving Leave a win. So I don't think the polls are that bad, especially when you consider that a referendum is a one-time thing, while other elections have more similarities to previous data.

BBC : "working class don't believe politicians"

Probably shouldn't have spent so much time and energy spreading spin and deceit to win votes for aeons. If it weren't an outcome I dislike I'd probably be enjoying the karma.

If majority of Working Class lower Income vote to leave than that is on the failed Politicians for not listening to those people. If they feel the Politicians are out of touch of the working class then I cant blame them for wanting to Leave.

Could be the end of labour. They have properly shit the bed, as they are saying on the BBC they lost scotland, who have voted from them for a century, and now they are losing the working class of england, who they claim to represent.

Whoa hold on now

I'm saying this because spent my teenage years in Manchester and my facebook feed has a significant amount of xenophobic posts. But I am anything but arrogant, I was half joking -- I get weird looks even in London when I say I'm English. I know what that's like up north.

"Where are your parents from." is the most common thing new people say to me and I get weirder looks when I say "English."

So while I regret that you took my comment as completely serious, there is a little truth in it.

Good climb down.

People expressing an interest in your racial heritage are automatically rabid racists though, yes?
Judgemental person criticises and derides an entire region of people people he hasn't ever met.

Yeah. I stand by my assessment.

And who are influenced by unrealistic, nostalgic, rose tinted memories of the the pre-EU glory days of their youth/childhood.
