Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
U.K. GAF: it's £38 in sainsburys (PS4 /X1) or £50 in store in GAME.

Better but still bad at times. Its still got a ton of mess in various samples where too much data has been cut and some voices sound like they were actually telephoned in lol for example Lando speaking in some moments is noticeable the moment it starts while others are a bit better. Main characters are hit and miss.
Better than past ones but noticeable instantly when you go from master voice record to resampled and cleaned. At times they go with grunts or sounds versus the sample that should be there which is VERY smart game design as the original wasn't in a separate master.

I wonder why the developers aren't given access to the original voice recordings from on set/adr?

Been playing through with my girlfriend (we play most of the Lego games together, starting with the Harry Potter games) and we're having a blast. Great package all around.

So keen to try this once the girlfriend and I have finished 100% Jurassic World. It looks like a huge step up from Jurassic and that had dinosaurs. Gonna have to get our BB8 unit out to sit and watch while we play.

Downloading now, was a bit concerned but got it for £10, cant complain at that

Same thing here, but there was a more careful job on it. They also got all the actors from the movies including Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, etc. to do original voice work for the game.

Did they get Adam Driver because
it really didn't sound like him in the final level

What? Why?? I know they've been doing this since LEGO LOTR but TT Games, just stop. Have fun with these things and do them right.

Authenticity is great and all in an officially licensed game, but a LEGO game should be designed for fun rather than exact replication of the films (which obviously they never intend to do anyway since there's no beachball-bouncing Stormtroopers in Star Wars...) A kooky product like the LEGO games are clearly a time to get ace voice-over talents into a booth and let them go crazy with lines and sounds and grunts and squeaks! The LEGO direct-to-video movies obviously have their own cast (and I've seen a lot of praise for how well they turned out), and there are lots of voice talents out there with the Disney Infinity and Clone Wars/Rebels and Freemakers casts who know Star Wars dialog. Hell, Tom Kane and Dee Bradley Baker and Sam Witwer and Jennifer Hale could do a majority of the characters all by themselves.

The time for concern about seeming "cheap" for not having the "real" cast is behind us, we now accept good talent in the place of major stars (and better yet, we've come to love some of the stars of VO better than the AAA faces of Hollywood.) Do yourselves and all of us the favor of getting a VO crew together and fully fresh-recording these LEGO products.

So the Wii U version is fine. There was a 750 MB patch, so maybe that fixed some problems. It looks nice, voices aren't perfect audio quality but are much better than lego avengers. The game itself is great, the best lego game I've played since Lego Star Wars Original Trilogy. Very fun, funny, and not as obtuse as some of these games get. I played the first 3 levels and it took me 2 hours.

I can't figure out how to actually use any of these characters I've unlocked in the "hub" areas... help? I've tried every single possible button...

If it's like every other Lego game since Batman 2, you'll have to beat all of the story levels 1st to unlock free play in the hubs.

Not necessarily, many Lego games have character switch stations in the hubs that let you switch characters even without beating the story mode first.

I'm a big Lego fan but haven't played any of the games until Dimensions, save for the Original Trilogy on GameCube. Dimensions got me hooked in a big way :)

This game is pretty good - the humour is there, I love all of the little references and in jokes. The new mechanics are pretty good but could probably do with a bit of tightening up - especially the third person sections.

I've only really played the first proper flight mission (the escape sequence from the Finalizer), but it was really fun despite it's simplicity.

The score is great, the voice work is pretty good so far (despite sampling the movies in some parts and new recordings in others) and the graphics are better than they have any right of being.

Do we already know what the DLC plans are? I'm wondering if we are going to get a 'Lego Rogue One' next year or if they will incorporate it as DLC. Wouldn't mind playing some more scenarios between Jedi and Awakens, too.

Full DLC plans have been out for a while. The season pass comes with three missions (how Poe got from Jakku back to the Resistance, the siege on Maz's Castle from Kylo's perspective, and the fall of Starkiller Base from the perspective of two pilots) and 5 character packs (Jedi pack, Prequel Trilogy pack, Freemaker Adventures pack, Rebels pack, and Clone Wars pack). There's also a free downloadable mission about C-3PO's red arm and the free droid character pack, both of which are 90 day exclusives on PlayStation consoles.

Rogue One almost certainly won't be DLC. It could come as a stand-alone game in a year or so, but I think if it ever gets adapted, it will probably be in either Lego Dimensions Year 3 (or Year 4), or as part of a game collecting multiple Anthology films in a few years.

Cool beans, thanks for the info.
I should have paid more attention to the bottom of the OT.

Star Wars in Dimensions would be delicious, but I'm not sure how game Disney are going to be for that. Although with Infinity out of the equation now, I guess anything is possible.

Cheers!

Realistically the ball would be more in Lucasfilm's court than Disney's. Technically Disney management could pull rank, but generally they let studios like Lucasfilm remain quite autonomous. Plus, with Disney Interactive Studios effectively defunct and Infinity dead as you mentioned, Disney has even less reason to step in than before. I can't imagine Lucasfilm being opposed to it, they're usually good with this kind of stuff.

Of course, there's still the matter of if Traveller's Tales will actually be able to work it into their development/release schedule for Dimensions though. Supposedly they had a three year plan from the beginning. I have a feeling Lucasfilm gave Disney Interactive exclusive toys-to-life rights for Rogue One at the time, as it was planned to be one of the final sets for Infinity 3.0. So, I doubt it was ever part of TT's plan and it's possible they won't be able to do anything until after year 3. Assuming there is a year 4, it would probably be an excellent candidate for one of those new massive story packs they're doing.

I've wondered this myself since the first time the LEGO games started to just rip dialogue from the movies.
It just sounds so bad and fits pretty poorly with the games. Especially when one line is a movie line and the next is a newly recorded one with completely different volume and inflection.

One would think the devs could make the voicework sound a lot better if they got access to the original movie recordings.

I suppose (and hope) that you are right regarding Lucasfilm. And there were Star Wars characters in the Lego Movie...

I also hope that there will be a year 4. From what I've read, it seems everybody has been pretty happy with the game's performance despite the frequent sales and complaints of high prices. It's a great way for Lego to satisfy a customer base without having to make complete sets and it also tests the waters for any properties they might be considering. Not really a priority for Star Wars, but it would be cool to have it as part of the lineup at some point and the spin off films might be the perfect candidates for a soft relaunch in year 4.

Really like what they've done with the interface for this - feels like a step up. Still the same basic gameplay, but if you're not tired of that then this refreshes the series in a great way. The multibuild stuff lends to more puzzles, the little shoot-out sections are a nice touch, and the graphics and general UI looks a lot better too. Only played the first two levels so far but I'm looking forward to the rest. Playing on PC, not had any issues so far.

Really liking it so far. Was finally able to get past the crashing and finish Chapter 1 by switching to DirectX9. So far I think the voice acting is absolutely fantastic, and it's awesome they got the original cast to do extra lines.

Does anyone know if there are differences in the graphics in DX9 vs DX11? Are any effects missing?

Subscribed, loved the movie and can't wait to play the game. Typically I'm more a fan of the lego games that actually follow a specific film(s), so I can't wait to see how they 'lego-cize' TFA.

I'll probably pick this up for my kids this weekend. They love the LEGO games and there is usually a lot of content to keep them playing for a long time.

Why is a patch required? I'm not seeing something in the pics :p

I thought I'd try and plat this after doing so for Dimensions.

Looks like there's an indicator saying a gold brick should be there but there's nothing showing.

Presume that it isn't triggered by doing something elsewhere and this is just where it appears after you've completed whatever it is you need to do?

I want to love these games but my main problem with them is pacing. I don't like solving a puzzle and advancing to a room only to solve yet another puzzle. Has this game changed the formula in that regard?

This ones held my interest more so then any other lego game, in the past have played the marvel and Jurassic park iterations for about an hour or so before giving up out of boredom, this one however has got me good!

So I feel dumb but how do I enter free play in the hub worlds? I travelled back to Jakku to explore and find some stuff but I'm still stuck using Finn and Rey, can't seem to bring up the character selector

Help? :(

The two guys and what looks like a fish pond vanish when I get close to it, as does the gold brick indicator.

it's not up in that pipe thing is it?
It shouldn't be? If I've not done something right I'd love to know so I can grab the brick 😅

I am sure its legal. But in the end its better than past titles but if you have ears you will notice it.

Regardless its a pretty ok game. Cant see myself ever playing it again but if on a sale its worth picking up.

Yeah, honestly it's kinda nice that lego is one of the few multiplatform games that never misses Vita too. And the recent ones do seem like a lot more effort is being put into them.

I would actually prefer to play this kind of game on a portable, something about it lends itself more to handheld play, but I can't bring myself to accept a stripped down version. The Vita version 'should' be close to par with the ps3 version , maybe a few graphical downgrades of course, but otherwise identical gameplay and content.

I actually just checked out some videos of the first 3 levels of the Vita version, and the level design is virtually identical to the first 3 levels of the console version. Who knows if it diverges later, but it seems pretty dang close to the same experience this time.

Hmm, interesting. I may have to take a closer look then...

Now I will tell you I can't find any Vita footage of the prologue level based on Return of the Jedi, so that level might be missing from the handheld version. But otherwise, it seems to have the same hub worlds and all, same cutscenes...obviously missing some special effects and the amount of stuff onscreen is much less, but the actual levels and puzzles look similar or identical.
