*sigh* No Gumshoe, of course...
No Dragon Warrior games either, but I'll live.

couldn't they just put all the games ever released on the NES on this
they should do that with the snes as well

There's no way I'm not buying two of these.
That's two Wii Classic controller ports on the front of it right.
Do we know yet if the Wii Classic controllers compatible?
Cause I have a few of those around.

No way.
-Too outdated. The powerpc cpu is a very old design and is power hungry and hot.
- This runs on USB power and this would require massive amounts of R/D to create a die shrinkage and to fabricate low power versions of this ancient powerpc design.
- The GPU is also completely overkill. A 3d accelerator doing nothing but outputting a software rendered image to a TV screen. Not to mention that the GPU is stuck at SD resolution and would require some sort of conversion to HDMI standards.
Now let's compare this to modern Arm based mobile hardware:
- Low powered and sufficiently powerful CPUs.
- low powered GPUs capable of high definition HDMI output. 3d accelorated hardware is not needed.
- cheap and widely available. Practically very little R/D.
Basically, using a Wii is the illogical choice for a cheap emulation box. It's definitely Arm based. The Raspberry Pi would be sufficient and that costs 5$. Not saying they'd use a Pi but they'll use something similar.
No Zapper, so it never had a chance.

I want them to use hardware components that only costs 1 or 2 dollars at most. Otherwise, its a complete failure of design IMO. Your not going to waste money on something necessary to run NES roms. Any computer circa 1995 could run NES roms with zero issue regardless of the power or price
The hacking community is going this thing inside out and allow us to play whatever NES game we want on it, isn't it?

Apparently Nintendo has put in the darkened filter for those who have epilepsy.
But thats the whole reason of the warning that is put into the manual. No reason to change from how the game is supposed to look.
And this comes from someone who has epilepsy. I play at my own risk. (Have never had a problem playing video games).
Considering these games are on the VC (on the WiiU and 3DS) in the 60hz format so I assume this will also. Then why is the filter gone on the NES Classic?
Even if that's the reason, put a toggle on it.
It's bad enough they sell shitty 50Hz PAL versions on the EU eShop, never mind the fact they fuck up the visuals too
I wonder if the version of this they release in the UK will feature shit PAL versions

And I think we can all agree that the filters on the VC games suck and should be entirely optional.
one of those things i really don't need..
but it's so small and cheap, so very much in impulse buy territory
same sixty bucks again pls
So glad they brought this slogan back.
Probably just that, natively outputting a 1080p image rather than letting the TV do the scaling. What exactly does 'in HD' mean? Are they upscaling the original resolution?

Tyson or Mr. Dream?
They at least should have the 30 best games. Not having Castlevania 3 or Mega Man 3 or Contra is crazy.
This is pretty cool, love the old school slogan!
Now make a MiniSNES!
Frankly, it'd be more criminal to remove King Hippo or something. Mike Tyson is someone most players won't ever see and if they really want that there's means, legit or not-so-legit, to see or fight him.30 years later and people still don't understand the dynamics of this business arrangement and fallout?
As much as most of us would love for a contractual renewal to occur to bring Tyson back, it will never happen. It's a waste of resources(and a breach of Nintendo's hard stance of never working with the man again). Besides, Tyson is probably better known for his Hollywood cameos than his career in the ring at this point anyway, especially among younger generations. Older demographics are mature enough to not really give a shit at this point(and will buy this for the 15-minute nostalgia rush regardless)
Exactly, which is why I flnd the idea of them using Wii hardware very hard to believe. Using a cheap outsourced ARM based soc with a Mali gpu would be a hell of a lot easier to manufacture, cheaper and less power hungry than getting IBM to create a whole new chipset from an outdated design for a 60$ box.
With a bigger selection of games though.
SNES library is far too good for just 30 games.
The controllers should be wireless. I know they want to keep the retro feel but it would be so much better not to deal with tangled cords.
And you call that headscratcher?I'm totally in.
People can (and will, and are) nitpick the list of games but it's impressively solid. Sure there are some headscratchers (Super C instead of Contra? etc.) but all in all there aren't any stinkers on there.
And you call that headscratcher?
Castlevania instead of Castlevania III is the odd one.

Yes!! I need a miniSNES!!
