Batman: Arkham Knight |OT| Protect Gotham Racing

How much more difficult is new game +? Anyone here finish it?

Its a little tough at first because it feels like the enemies dont telegraph their moves as much as previous games, but once you get into the flow of it, its not that hard.

Theres a few somewhat difficult encounters when you get to large groups that have the big bruiser guys in them but like I said, its nothing too difficult.

Is the season pass for this worth getting at £15? That's like half price or something.

I would've been pissed if I paid the full 40 USD for it, but it's currently 10 USD at Bundle Stars and definitely worth it at that price: https://www.bundlestars.com/en/dlc/batman-arkham-knight-season-pass

The Batgirl episode and Season of Infamy expansion are about 4-6 hours of content altogether. The other episodes are pretty short, at about 30-60 minutes each. They're basically just extra combat/predator maps loosely tied together with hallways. The rest of the season pass is just skins and more races and combat/predator maps. I thought the skin selection was pretty bad, but I did enjoy the new challenges.

Finally "finished" this today after abandoning it shorty after release. I want to love this game, but there was so many areas where Rocksteady just goes too far with certain mechanics or ideas that really turn me off. It's like every time I encountered something in the game I didn't like Rocksteady was like "Oh yeah? Well, you're going to do it a TON. Get used to it."

I fucking hated the Batmobile and every time I was forced to use it outside of the combat scenarios was just tedious. If it makes sense to use the car then I'm all for it, but having to drive a damn tank on rooftops or into buildings to do stuff Batman should be perfectly capable of finding a way to do himself is annoying. I seriously cheered when
the car was destroyed after that AK fight in the tunnels
. Of course that joy was short lived when
he summons a spare like 10 minutes later.
Damn you.

The other major gripe I had with the game was the damn Riddler trophies. Why the hell does there have to be so many? I'm cool with 100-150, but ~250 of them is just overkill. Who wants to scour the map looking for this stuff? I was really annoyed that the better ending was locked behind this tedious hunt.

Asylum had 240, while City had 420 and Origins had 250+, so tons of collectibles has been a staple of the series. I agree that locking the "true" ending behind Riddler completion was excessive, though, and I wish they went back to the Riddler maps from the first game. Having to interrogate random informants was way too tedious.

Just grabbed this on steam after finishing the campaign already.

Can't wait to dig into all the DLC content.

Good looking game. Shame about the performance problems it's had

Hey guys,

Just ran into a weird situation on my playthrough. I'm going through the Riddler's Revenge puzzles, and Pain Drain is giving me this weird bug. I just finished lining up the cylinders and drained the pit of all the water. Got the key for Catwoman, but now I can't get out of the pit. Section two of the pit is not aligned properly and I can't drive up the side of the pit/stuck on a misaligned section of the cylinder.

See here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EWbvpimQfc

When I watch online walkthroughs, none of the players had any problems because the cylinder's already aligned so they can just drive off with no issues. Like so,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-RlcpwzOe4#t=51m55s

Is there a way to go back to an earlier save on Arkham Knight? I've sunk about 15 hours into the game at this point. If this is a game breaking bug I guess this would be it. :/

If you're playing on console I believe there is an option to load a previous save when you are selecting which of the main slots to load from before loading into the game. I want to say you press Square on PS4.

Thanks dude! Yeah no fix. Lost about 3 hours of progress but I guess it's better than not being able to go back at all. :/

I don't see what the fuss is about.

In all the previous Arkham games there was a hidden easter egg that would hit at what was going to happen in the sequel. In AA there was a hidden room showing the early plans for Arkham City. In AC, there was scarecrows mask along with a radio message saying that he would return or something to that effect.

I think the only reason why this hasnt gotten more traction is because Rocksteady has been pretty adamant that this is the last Arkham game.

First time I've seen this; that's pretty interesting- hopefully we hear some more on the 25th then.

I keep hoping that there's a whole DC video game universe brewing somewhere in Warner Bros, but I can't really see a way to tie this into anything but more Batman.

I've got a feeling it's going to be something to do with the remastered first two collection announcement that seems to be leaking although the dates don't exactly line up

I just started this tonight and already a little confused.

So when I get the first four missions, the story mission then the three side tasks (firemen, murder victim, riddler), is it correct that after I found one fireman a new objective didn't appear? Do I have to find them and the murder victims on my own? Or will they come up again? Help!

You need to find them yourself. The game doesn't hold your hands - you're Batman, so start acting like him. You'll hear the helicopters drop hints as to where the firemen and dead bodies are, they will occasionally talk about finding a dead body, or a hostage situation somewhere.

Your communications interceptor will intercept random interrogation diologue when you're near firemen. Another huge hint is the opera music you'll hear near dead bodies.

Just completed it, great game, story wise maybe only slightly behind AC, but still really good, nice that Scarecrow got a proper villan role this time. Didnt mind the batmobile usage and thought the puzzles and remote control was very well done.

Origins is the only WB batman game ive yet to play now

Arkham Knight is $11.99 on PSN right now.

I borrowed a friend's Arkham Knight disc once and was almost immediately turned off by the vehicle physics. I'm thinking about giving it another chance but I have a question. Do any of the vehicle DLCs change the driving physics? The tumbler DLC seems cool.

They do but not necessarily for the better. However, you can't use the alternate Batmobiles until you clear the islands anyway.. so you HAVE to use the default Batmobile for some time.

Finally putting time into this game. Performance on my GTX 970 is still iffy, but mostly good. I can get 60fps during the bulk of the gameplay, but there are some nasty drops while driving, and under certain conditions. The first gunrunner mission dropped to 20fps and stayed there. The game does look fantastic, though.

I'm 70% done with the main mission, and my thoughts so far are...

+Graphics
+Conroy and Hamill, sweeeeet!
+Gliding around feels amazing.
+Combat is mostly the same or better.
+The open world design is much better than the bland sandbox of the previous two games.
+Lip syncing isn't horrible this time.
+I like Batman, and in this game I am Batman.

-The XCOM habit of having NPCs never shut the fuck up trying to get your attention, and all the whining audio you have to listen to.
-The Batmobile was fun for 30 minutes, now I wish it wasn't in the game.
-A weird balance of some interesting dark storytelling, but with a bunch of cheesy comic book dialog that now feels more out of place IMO.
-Side content seems to be there to pad and now annoy, rather than just being some extra content for people that enjoy that thing. Rocksteady is famous for their collectables, but wow. The city is great, but now it's filled with all sorts of repetitive shit like drones and tanks. I remember reading that the "true" ending is locked behind 100% game completion, so if true, that sucks pretty bad.

Damn are there a lot of tank missions near the very end of the story. That's going to kill any chance of me replaying the game.

I just got this game today. I'm on the Batmobile tutorial where I have to reach level 2 missiles to take out the vehicles, while my missile level decreases with taking damage.

I want to punch myself in the face. Is this normal?

EDIT: I found it best to wait in the circle in the center of the arena, wait for all vehicles to show up / respawn, and then it helps to know that they shoot clockwise.

Beat the game, and there were times that I couldn't believe how much driving and tank combat there was. Doing the Sewer Shark boss fight, struggling to control that POS, and I couldn't understand what the thought process was during development.

There is plenty about this game that is damn good, but it really sucks that I'll never replay it due to the Batmobile, and I enjoy replaying Arkham games.

I was thrilled when the Batmobile got trashed, and swore when there was more tank shit after that.

Goddammit. I wanted to start new game+ but I was already at 44% from a previous playthrough and I can't start again.
Also, once you're done with new game+ you can't start over again. You're done.

I have to start a whole new file. Ugh.

Couldn't help but laugh at all those DLC trophies. That's ridiculous.

Is any of the DLC worth getting? Or is all half-assed like their previous DLCs.
The Batgirl one and Season of Infamy are good as just a little more to do in the game; Batgirl's is a probably a bit bigger than the Harley one from AC and Season of Infamy is just four more sidequests in the main game which are entertaining enough.

The other character stores are like AC campaigns with cutscenes and small exploration inbetween. Nightwing and Robin's are neat, Catwoman's has one of the worst final fights in the series, and Red Hood and Harley's were obviously rushed to be out as pre-order bonuses.

They all feel pretty short and don't do much new or interesting. Red Hood and Harley are well animated and all the environments are the super well crafted Arkham fare.

I have been playing through this game for the first time. I know there was a lot of controversy regarding some design decisions, like the over-reliance on the bat mobile, and also about the poor PC port.

I will say that the PC version seems fine to me now, I guess after all the patches and having the game installed on a solid-state drive with OC'ed RAM might also help alleviate the stuttering problems people had.

I am roughly 50% done with the story missions. The recreation of Gotham in this game is wonderful and the game I find to be very atmospheric and immersive overall. Based on the more mixed receptions I have heard I wonder if the game will go downhill later and involve even more bat mobile stuff.

I disagree, the key to that fight is speed, lots and lots of speed.

I am getting towards the last quarter of the game. Normal tank battles I can at least blow through easily, but I am annoyed at the Cobra tank segments. They are repetitive and slow and it is annoying that they keep adding more tanks to each subsequent encounter.

Use your hacking ability on the Cobra tanks, it'll make short work of them.

I am fixing to get a Geforce 1070 and I was wondering if the PC versiob of this runs acceptably now?

Yeah I was just playing the game yesterday to test out my new 1070. They totally fixed it. Getting a rock solid 90fps (the highest cap available) with no noticeable drops or stutters at 1080p max settings.

Indeed it does. Picked up the PC version (season pass and all) for $15.

Sure enough, it not only runs well, it runs really well on my new 1070

Yeah, the game just runs almost flawlessly with everything maxed and enabled on a 1070 at 1080p.
Just finished the Ace Chemicals part, the graphics are just ridiculously incredible.

For a card with 980 Ti levels of performance, expecting anything less on 1080p after a lot of patches would be insane, regardless of the shit state in launched in.

Nevertheless, the performance has been much better than at launch. With my 280X I get an average of ~45 outside, 60fps inside, everything maxed out (except for the Nvidia stuff). But it drops quite frequently outside, so I decided to just downsampled that shit from 1440p and lock it at 30fps, never dropped below that ever since. I even think I have the Nvidia stuff enabled when downsampling, not sure though.

Just started playing this. I'm like, one mission past Ace Chemicals
going boom
and I'm already getting annoyed at being forced to use the batmobile so much.

How much worse does that get?

It gets worse, if you're not a fan of the tank combat. Plenty of tank versus drone horde mode sections and tank battle boss fights. Oh, and a stupid chase boss fight. There's also plenty of solid Batman fun to be found, so it's probably worth pushing through and playing on.

That all sounds pretty disappointing. I'm not a fan of the tank at all and it sounds like a lot of the game is tailored for tank usage.

Guess I'll play through until it gets to be too much.

The Radeon 480X gets above 60 fps even at 1440p.

It's only a year later than expected, but the PC version seems to be decent now.
