MKX XL PC version incoming?

Hooray, getting a content update like a year late for no reason.

And they're doing similarly shady shit with Injustice 2 as well. Either commit to PC gaming, or don't.

Who would buy the PC version of Injustice 2 if they didn't fix MKX? They NEED to do this if they want to sell games on PC ever again.

KP2 came out in March, and XL came out in April.

They are being coy about Injustice 2 PC because I don't think they want to make the same mistake they did with MKX.

It won't be day and date with the console release, probably 3-6 months later.

Let's be clear: the mistake with MKX was they released a bad port. It wasn't some unavoidable problem because they dared to release it the same time as the console versions. They didn't care about the quality of the PC version, they didn't care about their numerous paying PC customers. That's the problem, and there's nothing an extra 3-6 months of development time would do to change that if WB/Netherrealms doesn't give a damn about their customers.

They not only didn't care about the quality of the PC version, Boon LIED about it's quality before it even came out. And then when it was proven to be a lie, never said anything about it from that point on. PC gamers historically have shown to have good memories about this sort of thing, so if they ever do release Injustice 2 on it, I'd be curious to see how it would sell.

Of course, after pre-ordering the PC version of MKX, it's safe to say I won't be taking any chances on the inevitable shit show again.

I honestly don't get why we supposedly shouldn't buy it. I want WB/NRS to know that they have my money if they make a good product, not that they shouldn't bother with PC in the future. I want MK on PC and I'll support it as long as it's good :/ It sucks that this game has been a train wreck on the platform, but if they're eventually fixing it, that's a good thing.

You shouldn't have to wait for over a year after a game releases for them to eventually "fix" it, and when they do, in no way, shape, or form should it be considered a "good thing."

yeah, if they fix things and do good with the community (free version? highly discounted?) i don't see why to keep being angry. I get being suspicious and all that, but some people going 'YEAH KEEP IT BUH HUH' is kinda childish

There is nothing wrong with buying this or not buying this. This isn't a "vote with your wallet" situation.

Regardless of whether or not anybody picks this up, I'm still upset that it took so long to release on the PC. Other companies have stepped up their PC efforts in recent years, I expect day and date with PC and console released, tbh. And I expect PC releases to be generally pretty good.

Releasing this content pack late, and the way they are playing with Infamous 2, all point to more of the same stuff: they don't take the PC platform seriously. Step your game up, IMO.

You're not wrong, but it's a lose/lose situation. If you don't buy it, they point at the poor sales and say "Well that was a waste of time anyways, nobody bought it" and your chances of future products decreases. If you do buy it, it looks like you are supporting this admittedly terrible shitshow of a "release", which nobody in their right mind would do.

However, I also think that some people just want to play the best, most up-to-date modern MK game on their PC and the conversation begins and ends there.

Of course, don't get me wrong, I absolutely hated that we didn't get XL since I loved X so much and I considered it to be my favourite game in one of my favourite series ever. I pretty much stopped playing the game altogether. But I still want to play the full version, and I don't want MK11 to skip PC in the future. And no, I won't buy MK11 if it's also a crappy port, lol.

Happy to hear for the PC fanbase. I would have been very disappointed if I was only able to play MKX on PC, the XL upgrade is fantastic.

Oh don't get me wrong, releasing a shit port is absolutely the problem.

However the other problem is that since NRS absolutely refuses to do PC ports in house, which is w/e, but with MKX, NRS kinda fucked HVS over by not giving them MKX early enough. So well HVS is not exactly a quality dev, they were setup to fail.

So if NRS won't do it themselves, and won't share their code until it's "Ready", then delaying the PC version to give what ever random port house the time to develop it is the only solution.
Even if it's a shitty solution.

Why are people excited, when the PC port of the original was atrocious ?

I didn't get the game until late last year, but it runs fine on my PC. 1080p 60fps, mostly high settings, I have an HD 6970 and a stock 1100T BE. Hardly anything special today. They must have improved performance over time.

The main problem still is the garbage netcode, which they fixed on consoles with the XL update that PC never got. I don't pay for online play on consoles, so MKX on PC is where I want to be, hopefully they'll do right by us after the backlash.

I can't disagree. I don't have a high opinion of HVS, but I'm not going to put all of the blame for MKX on them. WB releases middling to bad PC ports, that's just what they do.

But I don't think it's time, it's money and the lack of it. WB won't pay for enough time for a good port, so even if we did get an Injustice 2 port six months late that doesn't mean the port team got an extra six months to work on it, you know?

It doesn't absolve him, but I just think Boon doesn't give a shit and never looked at the PC version in the first place. He asked some underling how it was going, they told him it was fine, so he told us it was fine. It's more being ignorant or uncaring rather than deliberate deception, though I'm aware this is splitting hairs. And this is just my impression, maybe he's actually a deliberate asshole and was secretly laughing at all of us PC customers the whole time.

All that said, if they do make it right I'm willing to be somewhat forgiving. Not $60 for Injustice 2 forgiving, obviously, but forgiving.

People getting mad at Boon are weird to me.

I get that he's the face of the company so it's someone you can latch on to bitch at, but it's a thousand times more likely the guy you should be mad is some beancounter at Warner Brothers who lowballed the PC port's budget. WB pays the bills and Boon is obviously under NDA so what do you expect him to say?

That's my thoughts on the matter, yeah. The fact it's happened on multiple WB games with ports from different developers, tells me that it's probably them, not the developers.

The only reason Shadow of Mordor didn't suffer the same fate was because the PC version was made along side the console versions, as far as I'm aware. Likewise with Mad Max.

WB can get bent as far as I'm concerned. They haven't had a single acceptable PC effort since Shadow of Mordor (with the exception of Mad Max, but that's all on Avalanche considering it's their lead platform) and that's not something I'm eager to support with my dollar.

I don't know why Boon bothers teasing people like this after how PC players were treated. What's the point in this situation? Just announce it if it's coming when it's ready to announce, and skip all the teasing.

The PC user base is already very hostile, and stringing them along with teases isn't really amusing them. This is not a situation for that. Probably not many people burned by them on PC find it cute.

Because this guy teases what he's making for dinner at this point. Teases are dumb in this day and age, it's not the 90s anymore

There will need to either be very fat discount for current owners or a free upgrade for current owners. MKX was such a disappointment at launch and there is no indication of what support for MKXL will be like either

After launching the PC version in a terrible state and abandoning it I'm not keen on seeing anything they have to offer, it was an absolutely awful way of handling things.

I hope so. Losing fighting games to consoles that die sucks. I prefer buying them on pc so I can play them forever.

I guess I appreciate the gesture, but honestly, I'm completely over it at this point. It's a bit too late. Maybe I'll give it some attention when it's really cheap or something.

This. Please stop yelling at the guys who care about your experience (Boon and NRS) and start yelling at the guys who are responsible (WB).

Boon teased MKXL PC a year ago and it turned out to just be the new MKX 50,000 prize pool.

I get that WB ultimately decides things, but he fucking loves teasing and leading on people in a way that is incredibly obnoxious.

People were flipping the fuck out when he teased a potential Shaolin Monks rerelease ages ago and literally nothing came of it

For you.

If you bothered to actually read on how Boon has been acting about this for ages, yes, people should fucking yell at him. He's a idiot that mocks his own consumers.

If it happens, it will be awesome. I got the game at launch (with the first DLC) and enjoyed it. Was disappointed like everyone else when they abandoned plans to release KP2/XL on pc... but I was still able to play as Jason so I was good lol. Did get the XBO version back in July when it was on sale on XBL. But would happily upgrade the pc version too.
