Disappointing that they still go the map pack route considering how many other games are moving away from that. Kind of a deal breaker for me.

I will probably get it not long after release. Battlefield 4 Premium was the best season pass I've invested in. So much more added to the base game.

I agree. It separate the community quite a bit. BF4 still has a vast majority of players on the vanilla maps.

Cost and community split aside, BF4 was hands down the way to do a season pass IMO and I won't be in on day one for BF1 but I have no issues getting the season pass when I do jump in.

I must admit... as expensive as those premium passes are. Battlefield games have been the only ones that never disappointed me. A lot of new and great content. Actually almost the only "season passes" I buy.

For me the beta will be the point where I decide whether I get the game or game + premium.

I've grown to detest free maps with microtransactions galore. Feels like the whole experience is tailored towards nickel-and-diming me.

Just let me pay for it upfront and leave me alone.

That all said I'll wait for a sale.

Jesus, can get a nice SSD for that price. It's stupidity expensive for a game. Especially who has yet to prove itself...latest Levelcap video doesn't inspire confidence in the game being headed in the right direction.

Sigh. I thought we were past this shit. I would much rather them monetise the game in a similar way to Overwatch, R6 Siege & Halo 5. Premium really hurts the user base from my experience on console.

16 maps and 20 weapons is a lot, and i've never really regretted buying premium for BF3/4. There will probably be key sites selling it cheaper anyway (BF1 is 44$ at CDKEYS).

I got BF3 Premium and enjoyed it from start to finish, but I'm having second thoughts because of the new Halo DLC model, which is looking better and better.

Battlefield's season pass (for 3 and 4) is among the only DLC I have played that didn't feel like a ripoff. Always delivers great "value" (though I hate that term).

What a shame.. Paying for map packs feels backwards these days.

lol

Well, I'm not a fool.

I get to see all of the content I'm paying for - and get it for cheaper - and not have to deal with developers making a game feel like a second job to access DLC items.

That sounds like a win-win-win situation to me.

Dice season passes are always amazing.

I'm still playing battlefield 4 and it's STILL getting updates and it's a fucking launch game.

Fuck that!

I don't want to have to buy map packs and pay a hefty premium for the privilege.

I didn't enjoy what I played of the Titanfall beta and will be surprised if I pick that up day one.

I haven't bought a COD game in years and I don't intend to start anytime soon.

Deary me! It's up to you Gears 4 to help quench my MP and overall shooter needs this year. Don't let me down.....

Disappointing, I just hope the game actually works properly on launch this time. BF4 was a technical disaster for far too long after release. I doubt the brand can withstand another massive launch failure. The state BF4 released in was beyond ridiculous and the sheer number of bugs, glitches and massive networking issues were completely unacceptable. I don't trust DICE anymore and I certainly don't have the patience or tolerance to deal with another completely busted Battlefield game or sit around and wait 6+ months for them to fix it. Irony is Premium is actually worth it when it comes to the BF games, but the problem is you usually have to deal with a lot of BS first.

I'd buy it for like a 10-20 dollar saving in a bundle with the main game, as they've been good value with bf3 and bf4. But with basically no saving at all why wouldn't I just wait for the first pack and read some impressions?

BF4 infrastructure was a mess on launch but it's really a very solid experience for years now. And I'm sure a lot of research and testing from that period went into Battlefronts / Battlefield 1 netcode. Battlefront had a pretty good start if I remember correctly and I was really amazed how quick matchmaking was.

I'm sure the same tech is used in BF1?

Conversion is almost 75 AUD!!! You need to suck me and f.... No thanks! Unless the price is reasonable, and anything above $50 is a rort, I'll stick to Battlefield 4 and Battlefield: Hardline.

I'm sure it will be 50 USD. In fact BF3 + BF4 premium did cost 50 EUR too and wasn't above 50 USD.

my question is will the match making of map packs be handled the same way as it was in hardline ie no full sever rotation separate from all the other maps?

if so they can shove it.

I agree, although BF1 Premium didn't really surprise me. I mean, Call of Duty and Battlefield are so big that they can do this, since people will buy it anyway.

I do hope that this doesn't fragment the base too much. I usually play the new maps and just revert back to the vanilla ones unless there's a very good new map.

That said, if any Season Pass is worth it, it's DICE's. They go all out in their map packs with new weapons, maps (duh), and a bunch of other stuff.

You're talking about BF4? On PS4 at least there's still a ton of people playing both the OG maps and the DLC.
In fact I'd argue that it's partly thanks to the season pass that BF4 remained interesting for so long. We got 15+ maps over a year. With games that rely on F2P mechanics the drip of new maps is so much slower. Just look at Siege.

Of course it will be the same way as always.

I really don't care how amazing the maps are that are coming with it. Countless other games have found a better solution to give players new content and they are still doing this shit. Whatever looking at this thread more then enough people will still buy it.

And they will still include MT like they did before, won't they?

I mean it mentions Battlepacks right there in the OP, so of course.

IMO you get to do one thing now MT or Map Packs. Having both is just a bad look these days.

Buy Premium so DICE never implements servers with all vanilla/DLC maps in rotation? No thanks, you can keep this one DICE.

50$, lol that's more than I'll pay for the base game. No way, I'll have fun with the original maps and buy the pass if it ever reaches a decent price tag, like 20$.
