Again it has very little to do with the tanks anyways :v

The tanks are needed for it to work cause health and sustain, but the you add on the ults to see real suffering.
Would having Bastion, Reaper, Roadhog, and Zen work against 3/3 if you wanted to go 2/2/2? 4 serious tank busters right there.

They need to give Reaper a serious buff to negate that team comp.

The only characters that need some buffs are Widowmaker and to a lesser extent Symmetra.

I honestly think Symmetra should give more than 25 shields or maybe retool this entire ability and make it a 200 shield that depletes over time for example.

After this weekend's games I maintain that true Elo hell is continually being matchmade with folks that don't know how to play their heroes properly or have large gaps in their game knowledge. And short of holding an educational seminar during every match it's tough to overcome...

I blame the shody matching making on this: http://masteroverwatch.com/leaderboards/pc/global/mode/ranked/category/skillrating See the normal distribution? This is what has been annoying me, it doesn't spread out the people in enough skill brackets. Everything below 2000 is barely populated (lower 10%) while the same can be said for everything above 3000 (upper 10%). I'm ranked 2400-2450 but I'm being put in teams where the average comes out around 2250, which means there are some people on my team that are pulling the average down and should be in the lower 30% of players while I'm in the top 50%. I find this to be a significant difference in skill and this can explain some of my matches.

For example I was matched against a pre-made team of 5 with a diamand (3000SR) on their side, their team average was below ours. Both teams were around 2250-2300. They wrecked us, the diamond guy's roadhog was just above our skill level. If you are around 2500 you can just be matched up against a way to different set of people each time. I think they should decrease the SR gap from 1000 to 750 atleast when grouping up with friends.

*goes into Lijiang Tower*

*sees 3 Symms*

Just lol

Are you me? I had a game where we all went Symmetra on NEPAL.

If you are jamming MM up with your 4-5 stack PLEASE at least pretend you guys know what you are doing together and play as a team. Sucks to be dragged down by stacks that have no fucking clue how anyone in stack plays, or what they want to do.

Well Bastion is just shit so whatever. Like yeah he can do things to the comp but when it comes time to fight he's probably not doing anything.

If you wanna fight it with some other comp you can do that with a mix of stuff, but it's just hard. Like Reaper/Roadhog/Zen all on the same team causes other problems for you and once 3/3 starts to ult chain you life is miserable anyways. I don't think Reaper matters against a nano boosted Rein that leads a fight in with Lucio/Zen/Ana/Zarya following him up with their ults too.

Rein/Zarya/Roadhog/Zen/Lucio/Ana

Think about staggered and chained ults with that team. You're not killing them. Now look at the offensive ulto combos they have too. You have to figure out a way to deny all that and fight them naturally at the same time. It's not impossible but let's be real that's very hard to do.

okay boys (and girls?) buckle up because I just had the most tense match in any FPS I've ever played

I was SR 2498 playing with randoms, I was hoping to hit Platinum for the first time but with randoms it's kind of a crapshoot.

It started off as attack on Route 66, we got the payload to the finish line with 34 seconds left so I thought we did alright, I was Rein the entire time and even got this trophy!
H9jsgTZ.jpg

Then the enemy team went and steamrolled us, finishing with something like 3 minutes left. I had never had a draw in comp yet so I thought that was it and we lost but then I realized that we would get a second chance...

We had less than a minute to move the payload and we got it about a third of the way, they had about 3 minutes and 30 seconds to move it so I figured they'd wipe the floor with us again.

Through some miracle of Overwatch science we managed to hold them off just barely. And when I say barely I mean .02m in overtime barely (seen here in the POTM screenshot)

I legitimately didn't know if we won or lost when the match ended.

Well, when the cards flashed up half their team had already quit but I managed to get a card for blocking 25k damage (I only played Rein for one round, how is that even possible?)

Finally, to the victor go the spoils...

I'm shaking right now lol

Okay, now that there's a new OT, I plan to join you all and post more here instead of just whenever.

Awesome post and what a way to do it! I just hit Platinum earlier today too! I somehow managed to win go on a 5 game win streak in solo queue and climb from 2340 to 2521! It was a rush! All of my teammates pulled their weight and then some. Everyone was on point and my healing game was top notch if I may brag about myself.

HIGH FIVE DUDE!

Why can't you run Pharmercy against 3/3? Who's gonna kill them?

Ana still 2 shots a discorded 200 health hero. She can get hooked too.

Bigger problem is she's not gonna kill things fast enough and when a fight starts happening she's not gonna do much besides fly away.

Like you can't hero counter that ult economy and that sustain. You have to think around that stuff or just be better enough than the other team to get picks out of that mess.

Then just run like a Tracer and Genji to clean up the supports, and Reaper to bust tanks. And round it out with the usual Zarya, Zen and Lucio.

I mean I'm sure they've thought of this stuff. But it doesn't seem like it'd be that hard to counter.

People aren't giving enough credit to my buff Reaper idea.

Just give him a 50% damage increase and you won't have to deal with this 3/3 nonsense.

Death comes.

Finally managed to win a placement match with a Zen + D.Va ult at the end. The counter D.Va and I managed to wipe 8 players with our dualing Ults but luckily my team snuck through and barely made it out with a win.

When Ana ulted tank is rushing at your team with easy kills in his mind and you trap him by popping Zarya ult.

It doesn't matter once it gets rolling. Once 3/3 has ults they just chain them so you never get a fight without them having something.

You're gonna send in Tracer and Genji? Lucio is going to be protecting Ana/Zen and they'll all be healing each other while fighting off others. Zarya/Roadhog turn on your flanker, RIP.

Like, Ana ults Rein and he starts fighting. You make it through that. Once that ends Lucio breaks it down. You make it through that and Earthshatter and maybe even Whole hog. You try to fight and Zen ults. Once that ends Ana probably has ult back. If they aren't forced to use ults, then they just sit on a bunch of combos and blow you up. When this isn't happening they just sustain through shit and build hella charge.

If a team existed that could dump extreme damage at all times and fight through those ults then this wouldn't be an issue. Too bad even the old Cancer Comp had trouble dealing with this. There are ideas out there like Ana/Mercy to fight it but that is also pretty tentative.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
In case anyone was wondering this is Jeff Kaplan's career profile.

The game director doesn't even play his own game confirmed.

Because she has 3 burly bodyguards who likes to bully squishy flankers.

They've tried diving the supports but the tanks just bullies them.

The only weakness I've seen so far is that they aren't as strong on maps that are vertically oriented like numbani just because mobility is the comp's major weakness.

Just now did rolfstomp like you are describing above in Ranked with 2stack (me+friend) and 4 randoms. We just picked 3-3 for lolz in Route66 without expecting much and just stomped through so hard.

Also honestly, most of the dominance I've seen from this comp is on payload and hybrid. I don't think I've seen it on 2cp or koth yet.

Yeah, mobility is an issue on some maps. Only thing stopping it from being the everything.

What is a good score now in season 2? Not sure. In season 1 over 60 I would say you are great

Honestly I have no idea. But from masteroverwatch's bar graph if skill rating distributions, 3000-3050 is similar to 60 from season 1. Though I feel like score really doesn't say much about me. I personally don't think I'm better/worse than when I was in 2500, or even the people I played in the 2500. Perseverance wins!

Made it almost 3100. Then lost, and lost and lost. The quality of teammates has dropped significantly since making diamond. People give up, people troll, people do not stand on the point. Its pathetic.

What is this snowballing ults thing? The other team doesn't have them? Shouldn't the three tanks be feeding ults way more than three squishies? Genji should have Dragonblade 10 times a game against a Zarya, Hog and Rein. Same with pulse bomb. I know Ana charges fast as fuck but I don't see how a Tracer and Genji couldn't get to her if they made it a priority how hard is it to get behind three burly tanks? She can't heal them if she's dead. Or why not run a super unorthodox Ana and Zen combo and put to sleep the nano Rein and charge up Genji yourself.

I know you know more than me about this but people should get more creative before we call it a broken comp.

What's hybrid? I thought there were only 3 modes?

fake edit: oh is that the one that requires you to capture a point before moving the payload like king's row/numbani etc.?

I did it! Solo-queue'd from ~2500.
Nice!

that's my next goal, but I don't think it's a feasible one lol

I think I'm gonna stick to QP for the rest of the day to make sure I don't have a heart attack
Probably a good idea. I took a chance and lost my next two games and went down a good 40 points. Called it quits for the day there but seeing that nice looking Platinum made it sting less.

And hey, never say never.

Just had a terrible comp game at Eichenwald, we defend and our team picks Junkrat, Torb and Hanzo, I can accept these picks but not all 3 at the same time. We asked our Hanzo to switch on attack and he did but he sucked, then I checked his profile. He only has played Hanzo. Level 40 and he only played Hanzo. Enough comp for tonight I guess.

Pro level Ana's can shutdown dragon blade hard. Hell, I've shut down dragonblade quite a bit myself, and my ana still needs plenty of work. Sleep dart is seriously a crazy strong tool. We're not talking about pubs that can't seem to aim at genji just double jumping.

Pulse bomb can't kill any full health tank barring zarya and health grenade just brings everyone back up crazy fast.

What's hybrid? I thought there were only 3 modes?

Yup, Kings row, numbani.

Those picks coupled with good tanks and healer can hold first choke. Assuming those three know what they are doing.
