Why the fuck would you lie about this when there is clear as day evidence just waiting to be uncovered?

Racist, lying idiot. Good lord.

In the last 2 lines he says "Still, my actions were my own and do not represent Oculus. I’m sorry for the impact my actions are having on the community"

he takes the blame on himself?

Who gives a fuck. From the two lines you posted.

"Still, my actions were my own and do not represent Oculus."

He's ending on the same point he began. He's trying to protect the Oculus brand, which benefits him. He does not actually regret supporting a hate group.

To me, it doesn't read like he's apologizing for his actions; only for how his actions reflect upon Oculus and the community.

He is sorry for the "impact"

...not his actions.

Well, I guess this isn't over then. Either Palmer Luckey is lying, The Daily Beast is lying, or someone tricked The Daily Beast into thinking they were Palmer Luckey. Hopefully we don't have to wait until next week to find out.

If it was the latter two, Palmer would have been on this on the FIRST hour.

And we wouldn't know what we know about Palmer and his girlfriend.

Holy shit, apparently Trump supporters are bad with emails too. What did he think was gonna happen?

Guess he'll say those screenshots are photoshopped now? lol

How many lawyers and PR reps did this have to go through before being made public? It feels like it's been filtered multiple times.

I'm going to actually guess "none"

I don't think anyone sane would have signed off on this statement. This reads like a guy trying to cover his ass for his corporate daddy, but who has no idea how to actually do it

Literally "I'm sorry you were offended" in corporate speak.

Jason Rubin, Head of Content at Oculus:
1/3 I wanted to give @PalmerLuckey a chance to respond before I posted…m.facebook.com/story.php?stor… …knowing Palmer, I take him at his word.
2/3 30 years in the Game business I would not work in a place that I thought condoned or spread hate. Nor would I remain silent if I saw it.
3/3 I believe games and VR have the potential to bring people together. My view is unwavering. We can make the world a better place.

Disappointing response.

Because he doesn't see what he is doing is bad. That apology makes it perfectly clear he is not sorry but instead the apology is for the way *other* people see what he is doing is wrong.

Yeah..... yeah :/

Maybe they had prior info from a source about NimbleRichMan being Palmer Luckey? Then they went straight to him to clarify if true or not?

This is probably it huh. They contacted him telling him they were going to run a story with or without his comment and in his panic and with his incredibly bad PR skills he managed to dig the hole deeper.

The disappointment is deep.

I feel like TDB getting tricked by a poser is pretty unlikely, because Palmer admitted to donating the money. If it was somebody impersonating him, it would have to be someone close to him, or at least with knowledge of his involvement.

While he his apology is a non-apology he said he didn't create the posts and all we see in the SS is that he did create a post. We have no context if they are even talking about the same thing.

I don't really doubt Daily Beast, but I guess it's hard to believe that a tech literate person wouldn't expect this type response . Hopefully they will release the entire email thread.

i really don't understand why you've been such a doubting thomas this entire time.

It's a pretty serious accusation that will have a big impact on the future of VR video games which happens to be something I'm very interested in.

So, even though it is most likely true, I'd like to see some actual proof before I come to a conclusion because 1. If it's true he needs to be held accountable, and 2. it would be nice to be able to trust a news outlet again.

Also, who the hell posts emails that way? Like if you were posting that screen shot, is that how you'd do it? that's not how I'd do it... I'd put the from line at the top so it was crystal clear that this dude was lying.

So, the appropriate response from someone like me should continue to be: fuck Palmer Luckey, Oculus, and anyone who supports or patronizes him?

Because, fuck that non-apologetic response.

Edit: I have no idea I was quoted on this. What he did with Nimble America is gross. Are the people quoting me mistaking me?
