Only two of those games are relevant though, the rest Sony can keep tbh

It's honestly hard for me to imagine a more wildly appealing line up, especially if you throw in The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy XV. Utterly insane 3 month stretch for Sony.

That's counting out Dreams and GT Sport which won't be til late 2017 at best, and MLB which I don't care about.

Ah bollocks.

Also I don't buy this whole "it'd get eaten alive" justification angle, game's gonna get devoured no matter what.
I will give props for the free DLC at least.

Yup, free DLC is great. I love how it's a change of pace from the typical "we wish to deliver the best possible experience for you so we are delaying [insert game title]."

Just do it, I don't mind a delay if it means a game will release in a better shape.

This is perfect. I'm a game a month type guy.

Oct- Paper Mario
Nov- Dishonored 2
Dec- Last Guardian
Jan- Gravity Rush
Feb- Nier Automata
March- NX

That's a mean streak of good shit.

F* this.

I'm as forgiving as they come, but Shu Yoshida needs to be held accountable for the "delay culture" (for lack of a better expression) that is now so pervasive in the PS ecosystem that players are actualy surprised when a game is announced and then releases on time.

Thanks for the DLC... I guess?

This is more like marketing decision.

See also: being happy that the game is delayed so it can get away from the other games that were delayed and in turn falls into another batch of games that have been delayed.

I find the "conclusion of Kat's journey" part far more upsetting btw.
But yeah, terrible timing for me because of Yakuza.
Had already decided to skip RE7 because it's between Yakuza and P5, now I will probably have to skip Yakuza as well.

But as I said earlier, it's not like you can count on a dead Q1 anymore these days, so might as well release when people have both more disposable income and (possibly) time to play.

After NMS (we know how that turned out, even if I mostly enjoyed it) GR2 was my most awaited game of the year, along with Horizon.

So, yeah...

Will the JPN demo still work so long as you have PS+? I played it, but the + trial I had ran out already.

Someone in this thread also mentioned that there will probably be an english demo (as in, someone asked in the comments of the article "can we get the GR2 demo?" and the answer was "we hear you! Stay tuned!"), so it's possible to wait for that as well.

The game is not delay because of production problem, so can't really blame Shu for that.
He is some what accountable because it's part of TLG/FF15 delay ripple effect.

Still thinking RE7 won't get delayed? Cute.

I find it more cute people think it will be delayed. the game was already esrb rated, and people are testing it now on steam. There's nothing that lends any evidence to it maybe even getting delayed. Dunno why so many people think it will especially.

Especially when for January it's still the biggest title.
Hell RE6 didn't get delayed, its release got moved up. It also had a very quick turn around of reveal and release. Which was all in the same year.

I always thought it was weird that Sony would release Gravity Rush 2 and The Last Guardian in the same week. Now that definitely won't be the case. Disappointed but hey, free stuff is coming! I think it'll still be great when it comes out.

Yay. I don't have the time to play it in Dec. anyway.

Is this a sequel where people are hoping that it delivers on the promising concept of the first game or is the first game good in it's own right? Been thinking of picking it up.

First game is great, you just have to mess around with the gameplay mechanics and piece together the story yourself.

Like one user said that you have to stop Kat to shift in a different direction but if you move the camera so it's facing the direction that you want to move to and press square, Kat will gravity kick in that direction. So you can go in the exact opposite direction without stopping.

There are quite a few things like that that the game doesn't explain to the player and the vaaaaast majority of players didn't realize that it's possible.

A company being excited for their new game is a huge slap in the face to all the fans that liked their old games.

True.

I didn't realize I could do this until I did the Health Race through the lava tunnels where it explains in the briefing screen you get a boost of speed by smashing through the wooden barriers.

Delay culture is not a problem and no one needs to apologize for it.

Very disappointed to have all of KH 2.8, Horizon, South Park and now Gravity Rush delayed to next year. My Q4 has now become a wasteland with nothing but FFXV while the first 2 months of 2017 has 9 games I want to play releasing within 6 weeks of each other, which is obscene. (KH 2.8, Horizon, South Park, GR2, Persona 5, RE7, Ni-oh, nier, yakuza 0)
Even worse yet, all of these releases might yet be prefaced with the reality of the NX releasing a few weeks after with Zelda. There are going to be some serious casualties in this release window, not least my wallet.

At least Sony admitted the reason for the delay was congestion so we won't have the usual nonsense from people after every delay of them taking time to add more "polish".

Delay culture is better than broken launch culture, but it still boggles my mind that they can't find a way to somewhat accurately predict the time they need. Development being an unpredictable process is nice and all, but how come Sony suffers from this so disproportionally? They need to figure that out and stream line their planning one way or another.

It's absolutely a problem.

Games should launch when they're ready, but publishers should also be a bit more mindful of when they decide to announce release dates. They've always kind of been a joke in this industry, as they're rarely met the first time, but Sony has essentially made it an art form this generation.

That frees up my December at least. Sucks to hear it pushed back again, but more time to play and free DLC makes that wait a little better.

It's honestly nice to have them admit that the main reason is a strategic response to the other delays, and not anything related to polishing things up. That free DLC is a nice touch, can we expect similar actions for all future delays? :)

Happy that it has a better shot being placed against such big games.

Sad that the game I wanted to play more than those big games is coming out last.

Cant say Im surprised honstly. The free DLC is awesome though!

Its crazy just how jam packed early 2017 in right now.

This so much. Like...fuck.

To put that into perspective, they said that before making the original GR they came up with a story. GR1 was the first part and GR2 is the second. That doesn't necessarily mean that there will never be another entry or one with Kat, but this will close the initial story that they came up with.

When almost every game is, it is. Stop announcing release dates when it's not locked, and we'll go back to the odd delay being the exception, instead of it being the quasi rule.
2015-2016 has been particularly bad in this regard.

On the consumer side, maybe there should be less angst and pressure applied to "get a date" though.

Now I'm going to say this and leave it at that:
If it truly is to make way for other titles, I think it's a mistake. Period.

I hope I am wrong and that GR2 will be a commercial success (if, like we hope, the game is as good as it looks to be), but I honestly think that releasing it in December where more people have both more time and disposable income would imo have been a far better deal, even if close to FFXV. In January, within 4 days of RE7, Yakuza 0 and KH2.8 but in a period with people having much less time and money seems like a rather odd decision, likely ending up in less sales.

Hoping I'm wrong (and still definitely buying it myself... I think. Will depend on finances now instead of justifying it as a Xmas "bonus").
