Reading that PR...Yeah sounds like there is no involvement from Sega Japan at all : (
Also, LOL at getting a new Daytona before 90's Arcade Racer
Sucks that there are ZERO arcades within a 100 mile radius from where I live.
Can we start a petition to beg for a Daytona 3 Championship USA PS4/X1/Steam edition?
LMFAO!bring back arcades next
Forget Daytona, gimme Maximum Tune 5!I've been in contact with both Sega and Raw Thrills regarding their latest releases (I'm the one that got the "rumor" started, thanks to sources telling me that Daytona Reloaded was shown in Chicago in September).
There hasn't been a single word mentioned about RT and Sega working together so no one needs to worry about that. Given that they are going head-to-head with Cruis'n Blast vs Daytona Reloaded, that wouldn't make sense for competitors to do that in the arcade market as it is. If anything, RT and Bandai Namco have been working together lately (RT developed Super Alpine Racer, Pac-Man Chomp Mania, Galaga Assault and World's Largest Pac-Man for Namco).
It's worth noting that the IAAPA trade show that happens in two weeks is essentially the E3 of the arcade industry. I know of these racing games that will be there:
Daytona Reloaded (Sega)
Cruis'n Blast (Raw Thrills)
Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 5 (Namco)
Ultra Race (Universal Space, a Chinese company)
Overtake DX (Wahlap/IGS; Chinese/ Taiwanese)
And we'll probably see a few other racing games from Chinese companies that no one will really see over here.
i've always been a bit lost when it comes to sega's arcade teams. AM2 stuff is easy to spot, kancolle arcade has AM2's logo stamped on lots of its material. stuff like maimai, chunithm, initial d and border break that get frequent updates probably have dedicated teams. but, like, who works on stuff like the let's go shooters and operation ghost? that's sorta eluded me lol
anyways, a daytona remaster with new tracks and features is probably one of the best possible outcomes. mitsuyoshi has had his hand in a bunch of stuff lately so i'll be really disappointed if they don't get him for some new tunes here!
It's using the same game engine from previous entries for maintaining consistent physics an at least 18 years have passed since Daytona 2 originally released.
That's insane.
Raw Thrills plz
"Raw Thrills plz"
I'll fight you.

That may be. But it is still nuts thinking to use that because it's the best option after nearly two decades. It was the right choice, that engine conveys a sense of speed that not many engines even modern ones can replicate.

Arcade only? cool, will play it in 2033 when it's emulated on PC
Raw Thrills plz
H2Overdrive is astounding though...
If this stays arcade only, then I will never play it lol.
No point in getting excited if it stays in arcades.
I swear to god this better get a console port
Don't fucking pull that arcade-only bullshit
Do we even know what Sega Japan is up to at this point? Is it all mobile stuff?
First ShenMue 3 now Daytona 3...now all we need is a new instalment of Virtua Fighter and we are good to go!!
Apparently "SEGA has assembled as much of the original Daytona team as they could to develop this game, including Takenobu Mitsuyoshi on sound."
Quote from SEGAbits. Sounds like a good deal if true, I'm ready for this gameand to not be able to play it for awhile
No rolling start, no coins inserted.
UPDATE: We have learned that SEGA has assembled as much of the original Daytona team as they could to develop this game, including Takenobu Mitsuyoshi on sound.
Oh my god. DandB please.

Or you could just, you know, leave your house.
What a dumb thing to say? As if leaving your house automatically guarantees that you have an arcade anywhere near you, let alone an arcade that actually has the game you want to play.
I guess what I said was at least as short-sighted as "no point in getting excited if it doesn't come to consoles," so for that I am sorry.
But at least in the US, Dave & Buster's has locations all over the country, so it is within driving distance for many people. Maybe not the majority of people, but many people. Round1 is significantly expanding and they want to be everywhere too. It's possible that many posters here have a location closer to them then they'd think.
It does suck that many folks have no arcades near them any more. But if those that do choose to go to them more frequently, maybe that will change. Everything comes and goes in waves. If we continue to see announcements like this, perhaps there could be a resurgence sometime in the future.
