That's what I find fascinating about the left because the right was ready to have a revolution if they didn't win. Why isn't the same zeal shared by those on the left?

Show me where the right was ready to overthrow the government? The most you had were gun nuts at polling places and Trump's own vague threats of not accepting the results if he lost.

I don't see the big deal about not conceding. She just wants to wait for all the votes to come in to be 100% sure.

The impression I got from Trump was that even after the votes, he may or may not accept the outcome. Could be wrong though

I agree. It honestly just feels like an excuse for people to come out and say "see? Clinton does suck".

Not only is it a Trump presidency, but a Republican House and Senate. Coupled with filling Scalia seat, you are going to see the effects of this election decades from now.

I think Biden would have won, but for some reason he didn't want to be president. I wish I knew why

His son just passed away. So he was not in an emotional state to run. Also, the optics of just another white guy vs a woman. FWIW, I would have voted for Biden but then again I voted for Hillary so there is that.

So we had Bernie, Biden, Michelle and Elizabeth Warren to chose over Hilary. I'm actually just disappointed that we are yet to have our first women president.

Good one America. No wonder the world just laughs and laughs at you. Those who vote Trump should be made to visit some other countries for a while to see how a large portion of the rest of the world works.

Thank Christ I'm not in that country.

I said earlier I thought trump might win looking how crazy this year has been but actually surprised it might happen. Guess there was a lot of silent voters.

This is indicative of something much larger taking place everywhere on the globe, because of decades upon decades of jobs' destructions, stagnating incomes, increased inequalities, and, above all, a total mistrust of the political "elite" that has proved to be a weak, malleable, corruptible and oblivious-to-the-common-man's issues' machine. I blame the liberals, partly, especially the media (Hollywood, magazines, commentators, TV hosts and other forums) for glossing over those real problems in favour of more societal things that only affect a fringe of the population, and which should have taken a backseat to social problems.

France is living the same ordeal, and there is no doubt in my mind that the extreme right is going to win the next elections. For years and years, the French media-machine turned a blind eye to the agonizing situations of famers and rural people; ridiculed those millions who dared to speak up against the irrational immigration policy...now, who's laughing?

The left is a joke. It renounced its ideals for cosmetics and trivial issues. It is paying the price dearly and, honestly, it deserves it.

"I have all of my rights, so no need to fight for others, there are bigger issues"

I'm not convinced that Bernie would've won either.

He might have won over more women than Hilary considering she did horrible with them and probably wouldve got the votes that the third party candidates got tonight which is over 4million i think

Maybe Susan Sarandon represented how a lot of white women felt about her

Well the majority has spoken. Let's see how these next 4 years play out. They will be interesting, no doubts about it. How will he fare, this man who so many believe worthy of ruling a nation.

I'm going to go on a long rant here and I'm sure in this fast moving thread no one will read it, but it's going to be at least a little cathartic. I'm also going to put this forum on blast a bit.

You know, I'm just going to take a moment to say that some of us tried to warn so many of you. The whole "social justice warrior" online movement or whatever you want to call it that this forum in particular has come to be dominated by. Shame and spite do not do anything to help one's cause.

Unrepentantly calling all white people racists and bigots and sexists and misogynists is what brought this on. I've joked on here about voting for and supporting Trump, but god knows I never actually did. But I've always been able to at least sympathize with those "deplorables" for the blatant hypocrisy on the left when it comes to all of those social issues that dominate social media these days.

too many people on the left, and on GAF especially, remind me of the conservatives in the years following 9/11 under Bush. Everything was viewed through a polarizing, black and white filter. You are either with us or with the terrorists. You are either a ____ist or you're not.

You can't demonize and shame people and expect they'll agree with you. They'll only dig their heels in further, especially if they feel attacked.

This is some real truth here, folks:
All the people who are very likely or even (ugh) probably going to put Donald fucking Trump in the White House tonight are not voting because they hate women or blacks or mexicans or whoever else. I'm also not saying that the hatred isn't a factor, because it's been shown repeatedly that at least on some level it's an animating force for all of this... but people are complex animals but you've turned them into cartoon villains and stereotypes without every trying to understand them or why they actually feel the way they do.

Polarization is bad. The right has been polarized for a long time, but now the left is too, and it's biting them back hard tonight. If Trump wins and has the House and Senate behind him, this is literally the end of America as we know it and the beginning of a new BRIC nation world alignment. That's really fucking bad.

This has been a huge issue online in general and this is the result.

This thread and forum feels a lot like 2008 South Park 'About Last Night'.

I was expecting Hillary to win convincingly but that won't be the case. I hope the effects of Trump aren't as bad as expected, and USA will move move back to progression in 2020.

The amount of power police in america now has over Blacks, Hispanics, and Muslims...

Scary times ahead.

It's time like this you wish Obama didn't continue on W's indefinite detention. Many people will be going missing. Obama legitimized it too. Oh, Democrats will complain when Trump does it like when W did but they never did speak up under Obama. Democrats themselves are quite spineless. I wouldn't be shocked if Trump makes Obama go missing.

Trump is going to get away with a lot. I don't think you're going to see much of anyone come out of the shadows to challenge him. The government wields too much power and Trump will abuse it left and right with no checks on his power in House/Senate.

Really lame of Clinton. Be gracious and concede tonight like the loser should. Could you imagine if the tables were turned, they would be shitting on Trump. I'm not happy with the results either, but it's the results, deal with it. I still wish Clinton won, but man do I not like her at all.

This.

You couldn't tell HillGAF that though. You'd be met with snark and condescension. Shouted down with denial and delusion.

Bernie got robbed, and we all lost big tonight because of it.

Oh of course. But as I said earlier, one thing I know for sure now: I will never trust Gaf when it comes to elections.

Because clearly, Gaf knows even less than Reddit...

That's right folks, Reddit was right along. I'm gonna be sick.

Thing about conceding:

You saying that you're happy with your opponent winning. This is why Trump didn't want to. He was/is a sore loser.

Now, regardless of how you voted, Hillary is obviously more experienced, and more capable. Do you imagine she's happy with handing power over to a dim-witted misogynistic racist. She is literally giving America over to him. Yes, people have voted, but conceding is saying "I respect you".

And really, why should she? He doesn't respect her. She's a nasty woman.
Conceding is acknowledging you lost. It doesn't require a celebration of the person who beat you.

The House and Senate. You gotta remember, Trump still doesn't actually align with the Republican platform all that well. I'm don't think they are going to get along to well after a few months.

Or maybe they will and it will be doomsday. Fuck if I know, I clearly don't understand anything surrounding Trump, I never thought he get this far.

Remember when the tories didn't aligned that well with the concept of the Brexit, and UKIP ideals and then proceed it to embrace them fully and confirmed a turn to the far right?

This is so weird; Everyone was sure that Clinton would win, there was no way she could lose to someone without any political experience. Not only did she lose, she lost handily. America has shown that it still favors hateful speech. Words cannot express how I feel right now.

This is what can happen in a nation as diverse as the US.

We are united. For better or, in this case, worse.

Laugh all you want

Given that the dude's business declared bankruptcy twice... I'm not sure if United States can declare bankruptcy lol

Lol why are you people complaining about the lack of a concession speech

She's lost her last chance at her life's dream

She's probably lost composure for the first time in 20 years

Has the first "Downfall" edit surfaced on YouTube yet? You know it's over when that shows up.
