Some takeaways from a liberal Hillary voter:
1) The only way the left could lose is by making a villain out of themselves, and that is exactly what happened. There are legitimate, good, misguided people that are hurting. Their jobs are gone, their ACA payments are going up, they feel marginalized in the ongoing race war. Rather than embrace these individuals, liberals painted them all as racists, bigots, sexual deviants, etc. How do you suppose these people will vote?
2) If Hillary won, it would have been by the slimmest margin. Republicans taking control of all 3 branches of government is bad, but even if Hillary actually won we're not addressing WHY 1/2 of the country voted this way.

I actually expect AfD in Germany to gain ~10%, maybe even more. Too much shit went down with refugees and only the tip of the iceberg made it to the media outlets. The hate is real.

The polls weren't wrong. Problem is we look just at the central value of the polls, not at the errors, and in many occasions a 2% lead is basically a statistical tie. Besides, in Nate Silver's model the possibility of Trump winning was around 25%, which means Trump is actually not such a surprise.

I honestly believe that any of the other Republicans candidates would have lost to Clinton. Trump brought more energy to the party then any other of the Republican candidate could have hoped. He campaigned harder than anyone else that I've seen. The media tossed it up to desperation, but just throw that on top of the pile with all of the other things that were wrong about.
