Does anyone remember this picture? Smelled like such bullshit when I first saw it, but others were convinced.

So this turned out to be bullshit in the end, right? I mean GTAV and TW3's worlds are enormous, there's no way FFXV has that much free space, right? What size is it, roughly?

If it really is this big I will be SHOCKED.

You think dualshockers has been right on anything?

FFXV is huge, but not the size of that clay map. Like, less than half of that. But still, huge.

Yo, so I downloaded the 1.01 patch but for some reason I can't warp in the field (out of battle), thought they added that?

I also cant find this so called mp3 player to play my car music out on the field either. Does that unlock later or something?

Feeling like i didnt get everything out the update lol but i do have the archives and animated characters in the menu though so.. and the red screen when you are almost dead

Yeah, I can't warp out either. And the MP3 radio must be an item you buy

5 hours in. Still on chapter 1!

-I've stumbled upon a dark mine that gave me a scare, literally. Ending with a huge leveled bad guy. Noped out.

-Got attacked by a huge ammount of wolve like enemies and birds, barely surviving.

-Drove to various locations with my bros, jamming out to different FF jams

-went fishing and then fed a cat

-did a few hunts and explored as the dirt picked up in the area

-heard lots of banter between my companions and had quite a few laughs

This game is addictive and awesome and I've hardly done anything.

It was bullshit. It's not nearly this big.

This is a map of Eos, but you don't explore all of Eos in the game. There are parts of Lucis mentioned in Kingsglaive that we don't visit, for example, let alone other continents.

This is the game's map:

No I don't, I think they're often full of shit, which is why I'm asking.

Huh. As big as the Witcher 3 or Xenoblade Chronicles X? Because I will be impressed if so.

EDIT:

Oh wow, that's completely and utterly different to what was presented by that clay map. Wow. Thank you so much for this, it's exactly what I was looking to find out.

I'm gonna repeat again. The Crown Update is a superset of the current patch.

I dont know what that means. So its an updated version of the patch thats already out?

Does that mean the one I have doesnt have the kingsglaive scenes?

Special edition is day one with the noctis child steelcase. going by a listing on my local store.

Deluxe is amano artwork steelcase + kingslgaive and some other random in game shit.

The 260$ CE on SE store only has the figures and the bad looking steelbooks.

Day one edition in NA has a shit plain white spine and slightly metallic print on the cover. EU day one edition has a proper spine with logo and similar metallic print/ reflective print.

Hope that helps.

Also back to the difficulty thing. Anyone tried doing a super high level hunt on easy mode and trying to brute force? what happens?

Thanks. so the Deluxe edition is the one to buy in case you for the collection purpose if you do not want to spend 260$ or whatever on a figure. correct?

Loving the game so far. 20 hours in already. One complaint tho...

I hate when you sprint and it would stop sprinting when you get tired or something, so you can only sprint for like a good 5-10 seconds.

Has anyone tried picking the option of "not" giving the reporter the gem that he asked to get from the mines right before trying to get on the ship? Do you get to keep them gem?

If you time it right, let go of sprint the moment noctis looks to pull up from exhaustion and youll get a second wind. can do this infinitely

Basically, the Crown Update has more than what's in the current patch. The Crown Update is likely the Day One patch. What you're playing right now is, like, the Day -12 patch.

Well, do we know if there are more Kingsglaive scenes in the Crown Update vs the patch i have now? I'm contemplating not continuing with the story if I dont have all of the story updates yet...

This has probably been mentioned, but this thread is quite long. Rating on a scale from 1/10? Is this FF13 or FF10-2 bad, or is ti more like FF6 / FF12 / FF7 good?

20 hours into the game. I think it's better than 7.

6 is classic. But I would say I like 15 the same as 6 it may be better, but I haven't beaten the game yet.

The full game has an extended kingsglaive scene compared to the judgment demo to show off the attack on the city and noctis's father being killed

Not sure about anything else tho

To those who've experienced both Easy and Normal, what makes them different?

I think monsters have more HP in normal. There is something done with the scaling (either you're more powerful or the monster have less HP in easy). I believe you also take more damage as well.

This probably got buried somewhere, but is there a trophy or achievement for difficulty?

I hear there is an easy and normal mode, do other modes unlock later?

I understand why it had to be this way with this game, but I hope this does not set up a precedent. This is first mainline FF game where you don't get to visit basically entire world...

Wow, the impressions are getting a lot better now. I have no idea anymore how this game will be reviewed.

The "negative" reactions were so overstated. Never trust people who watched a snippet of an ending on a stream without seeing the other 97% of the story.

I think it's gonna review well.

Technically the game is not even out lol. Besides, plenty of games have been story patched. You can stop, but nothing garantees it won't be further patched even in a few months.

Yeah I know. I just hope the changes aren't like substantial or anything. I'll just continue dicking around in Chapter 1 lol. Hopefully they release the patch sometime over the weekend ahead of release day

I really think if you have been following the game and you go in with an open mind that this isn't Versus 13 you will probably like it for the gameplay. I can't comment on the story because I am only on Chapter 3 and there hasn't been much of one (which is somewhat problematic).

Emmm, In Final Fantasy XII you only visit a part of small part of Ivalice.

Also XIII had more cities in Cocoon and you also only explore a little bit of Pulse.

FF13 you only visited a handful of places on either Cocoon or Granpulse

Well, you are getting impressions solely from people who were already excited enough about the game to seek it out before its release. The audience most predisposed to enjoying the game are the ones posting about it right now.

Wow, yeah, I guess I just don't even think about them or remember them when thinking about Final fantasy...

Still, better not to catch on any further...

I think if you try to realistically scale a game, it's tough to get a "world" map if you know what I mean.

Unless you do it in a way like classic RPGs did where you're oversized while navigating the map.

12 too, at most you only touch really small parts of the other continents. FFX had the advantage of taking place on a relatively small island like world. FFXIV is going to take over a decade to explore every part we know of already.

WELL, I don't expect all of it to be completely travesable, but like, the idea that there are entire continents you don't even see bother me, after generations of games where you literally could fly over scaled down globe of entire world.
Like, even some parts of the world accounted to one village or something, there was no part of the world you didn't explore as you went through game. Every culture, every civilization still standing, every continent, you at least got some general exposure to and so by the end of the game you had a comprehensive if at times somewhat surface level view of this entire world... Knew every country, knew a little bit about what that country is like... yada yada...

UPD: Yeah, i also forgot about 12... Weird cuz I really like 12... I guess my brain went back to the really old, PSX and back era >_>

Heck, I'm not sure if there's a canon (Ultimania?) statement to the contrary, but I've always wondered whether Spira is really all there is to FFX's world as well. A single largely north-to-south landmass looks a lot more like Westeros than Planetos, if you take my meaning.

Besides which, much as I will never not adore traipsing around on a full "world map" via airship in the older games, the amount of nothingness in most of those maps is utterly unbelievable. Even as a kid, I had to tell myself there were dozens of settlements in IV through IX which weren't visible on the map simply because they were not relevant. :p

that puzzling face
If you wanted to get technical, FFX could have been part of Spira as well rather than the whole thing, from the sheer fact you weren't mechanically able to fly off the north edge of the map and end up at the south edge.

(lol)

over scaled down globe of entire world.

My point being 'the entire world' in most classic JRPGs were not physically possible constructs, and certainly not globes.

As stated, I don't expect being able to traverse entire world literally to the scale... Basically, I don't want there to be blanks in the world because they couldn't fit it. If there are like 2 more continents with their own empires on them, let me visit town from each. I want to be exposed to every single culture, architecture, yada yada...

Allow me to explain myself a little better. Imagine there's a continent to the east, that has an entire country of magical Moogles that fly on fairy dragons and live in trees. In old JRPGs, even if it's just one town, you'd see that.

After I completed Final Fantasy 9, I didn't see every single town that exists in that universe, obviously, but I've seen every single country, culture, everything that world had to offer, all it's secrets, all races and species that inhabited it... ALL of them I met and saw at least a little bit off. That world had nothing left that I didn't see.

That's what I prefer my JRPG worlds to be like. I don't need them to make an entire moogle continent explorable, but if it exists I get some basic exposure to it and know basic idea of their culture, architecture...

It's weird and very emotionally based rationale, but that's the one I have about JRPG worlds. if you created a magical world, show me at least a tourist bus tour of IT'S ENITRETY.
