What could be interesting is if the 3rd character is a power character that is only accessible via meter but is also significantly more powerful.

If it's an assist in the traditional sense... yeah, that sucks pretty hard.

Also, this is random, but the other day I though they could have a separate meter or a single-use resource per match that allowed zero HSD upon activation for a short period of time. This would allow combos to remain short normally, but when people want to do a flourish or maximize damage they could use this resource one time. It would create hype whether people execute or drop the times they use their zero HSD resource.

Really, if the Hit-Stun decay mechanic in MVC3 actually worked as intended minus DHC/TAC glitches and some characters having specials/normals that do a constant amount of hit-stun no matter how long the combo is...then UMVC3/MVC3 combos would have been pretty good still.

I don't disagree, but there were a huge swath of those moves that people for so many (all?) characters that were teased out pretty quickly and benefitted characters with other strengths even more.

I was just brainstorming because I figure they're going to need to replace X-Factor with some game-defining (or comeback) mechanic, one that would help give people the opportunity to shift the momentum of the match to keep things exciting and a bit spontaneous, but not with as many perks or outcomes being as reliant on that mechanic as X-Factor. Something "more honest" lol
