If Rathalos is in, he might be just an assist. A smaller monster like Yian Garuga could work as a playable. Or it'll be a hunter or felyne because Ryozo wants to keep fucking with Sony.

If no xmen, I'd assume also that there wouldn't be any spiderman (even if he was in captain america) or fantastic four (including doctor doom). I'd also think we wouldn't get deadpool.

I guess we might get avengers, guardians of the galaxy, daredevil/punisher/nick fury and black panther.

So basically all of the characters I care for won't be in the game...I'd prefer capcom vs capcom if it doesn't include mutants etc.

Considering the information so far (MCU universe, 2x2) I don't think you're going to like what they will show. Those are my predictions at least:

-Capcom will use the same engine as SF V. They are familiar with it and it's good to cut costs.

- Considering it's based on MCU, the art style will be more realistic instead of cartoon or comic book based. I wouldn't be surprised if they used the same models of SF V in this game (the models are great and I really like SF V art style, though not everyone agrees).

-They will probably have something akin to fight money to buy anything that affects gameplay. I think Capcom might use the fight money system to boost SF V too (you gain FM from both games and it's put into a single account).

- Arcade mode will probably be in from the beginning. I also hope/expect they making a story mode (marvel writers that is).

- DLC characters will be planned as seasons just like SF V. Half marvel, half capcom.

-As I said before, gemaply should be more akin to TvsC. More systems, more balanced, less fun to watch.

This is what I expect from the game at least. Oh, and a good online mode. SF V is working great here at least.

The rights to certain marvel characters are split between Sony, Marvel, and Fox. Fox and Marvel have an acrimonious business relationship, so several years ago (but after MVC3) Marvel made a decision to stop promoting the characters Fox owns until Fox starts playing ball. the relationship is getting better, but it looks like the deal for this game was made before it improved.

How long has this been going on and why did it get this bad?

Personally, the fact that they won't be in the game means more room for other characters (which is fine for me as it starts a new "era" I guess) but still it's surprising that it's happening to something as iconic as the X-Men.

I agree. as much as it sucks to lose the xmen characters, the roster can stand to be cleaned out a bit in exchange for some new blood. people are too hung up on the characters and strategies they've been abusing since marvel 2.

Sony and Marvel have a positive relationship. Spider man is 100% in. Deadpool is out, but marvel created a female deadpool called Gwenpool they've been using as a substitute. That character seems to be popular on the print side, and showed up in future fight so I wouldn't be surprised to see her here.

I doubt it's Marvel, at least not in any meaningful way. Probably Capcom and Sony. I know Capcom screwed up with SFV, but they are invested in the FGC and pushing it as an E-sport so I'm not sure why people thought they would just give up after one blunder.

I mean, I'd love Ronan the Accuser, Mockingbird, War Machine, Wasp, Cloak and Dagger, Panther, Winter Soldier, Ghost Rider, and Shocker. Pretty bummed if this all pans out but I'll take a new VS game with MCU only instead of no game at all.

Knowing Deadpool won't be back does sting though.

Instead of worrying about reporting and/or what qualifies as reporting you should take a look in the mirror and question why you're so eager to go along with a hype cycle and PR/marketing plan as laid about by Marvel, Capcom, or any other corporation.

It's cool to be a fan and like surprises. You don't have to be a crony though and you certainly don't need to question media outlets for being the wrench in the works that stops that.

Besides MonHun in my prior posts, I think BASARA may get considered. Masamune only missed out on TvC and MvC3 apparently because of a technicality relating to "no historical characters" (even though that didn't stop Soki).

Maybe they could just dub him after his Devil Kings' persona "Azure Dragoon" and keep it moving, like Tizoc and I agreed in the prior topic!

Fox owns the movie rights to the X-Men and has for quite some time, as they were sold back before Marvel was doing movies and selling those rights was just an extra revenue stream for their comics business.

Now that Marvel is doing movies and TV, they want those rights back. The only way they can get them is if Fox agrees to sell it back or lets the license go into disuse. At some point, Marvel started minimizing X-Men in their universe and cutting back on X-Men-related comics. The idea is that Fox already has enough stories to adapt, and Marvel isn't going to heavily feature those characters just so that Fox can pick up that story and use it for ther new X-Men movie.

So, basically, until Fox decides to give up on their X-Men franchise, Marvel is working to minimize the amount of new material they have to work with and minimize the visibility of those characters in Marvel Comics products as an attempt to force Fox into giving up their rights.

I'd rather have this be confirmed and be hyped for the reveal than be kept in suspense for a week and have the possibility of it not being real.

It's at the point if they put Ada Wong or Claire Redfield in over Regina that Dino Crisis is legit dead to Capcom. The dream is dead at that point but expect 4-5 RE characters in this game.

If the company is serious about making a reboot of that game, you need to have the postergirl/mascot in this game and feuding lines with Jill Valentine, the original scream queen of gaming.

isn't marvel wiping out the x-men slowly in the comic books too? I know they recently killed of lot of mutants including cyclops. And I think Marvel is now setting up a new arc where inhumans will pretty much wipe out the rest of the x-men.

A Hunter would be even less likely because Ryozo and his team have said that they don't want an "official Hunter design" in a game like MvC to undermine the avatar the player creates. Kinda like how Link will likely never be fully voiced/characterized on the Nintendo side, because he's meant to be the player's avatar.

The one "out" they have is Ryuto/Lute from Stories, because he's already an established character.

In the past month they announced 7 new X-Men titles will be launch in April, so no.

No, this is false.

They did not kill "a ton of mutants."

cyclops is dead, but has a time displaced clone running around, so suprise! cyclops is still around.

Marvel is setting up a new arc where the xmen are getting about 7 books and the inhumans are being shot into space.
