Is there any way to make the on foot camera closer? Seems so far away - on keyboard/mouse or controller.
I heard you can adjust it on PC

I spent like 2 hrs playing co-op with a friend tons of fun, just shooting people doing missions
Had a hacker pop up we found them and kill them
Tried to drive away from a gas station and ran into a gasoline pump
Got got by a bounty hunter
my friend killed a bounty hunter and then got the achievement
Just running from cops
Doing missions coop got a hostage killed
I do wish they had more variety to the coop missions though

i've just done the mission where you meet
T-Bone
. starting to get into the story a bit more now. up until now it just kinda felt it had no real direction but not really complaining because i've just been having a load of fun exploring and doing stuff at leisure. looking at a list of missions i'm about 1/3 through them all. i'm about 10 hours in now. i've been doing some side quests and that.

i thought it would get repetitive but it's not. it's still really fun and enjoyable. i love using my quadcopter to scout out areas and plan the best approach. i have hardly used cameras to check out areas which was about the best option in the first game. there are a good variety of challenges. some are so easy you can just run in and pick up the item, some require a good bit of thinking and some i just can't seem to figure out.

the driving is also so much better than the original i think. cars feel different. some make me think i'm playing GTA IV (hated driving in that) but there are cars that handle perfectly and don't feel so slow. it's not perfect but a huge improvement.

the only thing kinda bothering me right now is that i don't feel like i'm really getting to know the characters too well. i know all their names and personalities but something is just missing. it's still early though!

i don't think you can. you need to set FOV in settings. i wish they would at least let you change the fov for both on foot/in car.

I cannot even start to explain how ridiculous I think it is that a game cannot use this controller. Even worse, on the Ubi forums is seems like the admins can't quite grasp that this controller exists and keep asking people what dongle they are using.

So yeah, despite loving Rise of the Tomb raider, Gears of War 4, Doom etc, WD2 has put a salty taste in my PC gaming mouth.

Apparently it's related to their Multiplayer anti-cheat system. If you are using wireless or Bluetooth, it thinks you might be hacking the game so it blocks whatever device you are using.

If you turn off the cheat system, the controller works but you can't play multiplayer (which is fine by me). This is the first time I've seen a controller ever getting blocked and I'm sure a patch will come. I wouldn't let that discourage you from PC gaming. These things happen when you are having to program a game for a variety of system compatibilities vs. one hardware spec like a console.

I've only played about 10 minutes of the game so far but I am a little annoyed about how difficult it has been to even get going. I'm relatively new to PC gaming, but a couple of things have irked me about WD2...

1) Being forced to sign up to uplay to play the game despite downloading from Steam.
2) Having an overclocked GTX1080 with a stock i7 6700k 4ghz i can usually stick games into 4K Ultra and then knock down a couple of settings to Very high, shadows to medium or high, and pretty much hit 60fps with some dips in very intense areas. With WD2 i cannot get anything over 45fps with my usual options.
3) What this guys said...

Welcome to pc gaming lol. Always expect ubisoft games to have some issues.

Also 4k 60fps for a current gen open world game will be tough regardless.

Unfortunately turning off the anti cheat thing didn't work for me and the on board bluetooth. I do appreciate the complexities of making everything work for al the PC variations, so i am not giving up just yet, it's just a little crazy a developer could break an official controller for the "system".

Yeah, fair enough, like i say though i manage to get close with just a few drops in settings with GoW. Actually, since i posted i tried the temporal thingy-ma-jig setting and seemed to be locked close to 60FPS with almost everything maxed out.

I kind of wish the jumper jump upgrade wasn't in the game.

You can completely circumvent nearly every research point puzzle with it.

Am I the only one who misses random crimes?
This was by far my favorite part of WD1. There was something really "Batman" about it.

The mechanic is wholly absent, and Marcus doesn't really give a shit about random crime in any grander scope than as a method of "gaining followers".

What I would want is all the hacking focus of WD2, but the vigilante angle of WD1.

What's the best to start a game so it's connected to the online? I keep puting PS4 in rest mode and it tells me I need to restart in order to connect.

Is it me or is the game really content meaty, I feel like with other games I would be near the end by now.

Also I upgraded to the car hack, now I can't get bot charges/money from cars any more? wtf
That was my main source of income, just drive around and spam x, now the cars just reverse :(

There is a scissor lift on the far side of the area, i hacked it and brought it over between 2 buildings just near the van then called a gang hit to distract the fbi, climbed in and went high as i could, they cant reach you and you can then use the lift to drive away after.

:p

God I am loving this game. I forgot how damn much I enjoyed the multiplayer elements from the first game, randomly getting hacked etc is just a blast.

That was a fairly tricky one, took 3 tries to pull it off. Wasn't an amazing strategy or anything but I made van drive forward and hacked it while sitting in a car on a hill nearby. Bought me more time than otherwise while they searched the area.

Just did this mission first time . Called a gang hit to distract them , hopped in the van and sped off blowing up steam pipes etc. then just parked in the bushes and done .

I love when it's dark and you can see cop cars with torches looking out the windows .

Oh didn't realize you could just steal that van. Smart.

I do love how you can use gang hits basically anywhere. Including
fbi hq and alcatraz

So I finished the game and traded it in while the price was still reasonable. Still, it was immensely good fun from beginning to end and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. Two things really stood out for me however, and they impressed me to no end. First off, the relationship between all of the main characters was very well done. They felt believable and genuine. They were well written and cast. Very impressed.

Secondly and most importantly was Ubisoft's treatment of
Josh
. It's never explicitly stated, but
he
has a very important personality characteristic (
autism
) that all of the other characters treat very appropriately. During the mission where
Dusan is revealed to have been artificially bolstering your numbers
,
Josh
has a freakout for not discovering it sooner,
and he quickly shuts himself down.
Now in this instance it's very easy for someone to get annoyed at that type of behaviour, but everyone takes a little longer with
him
to assure
him
that
he
did well. Very well, even.
He gets a bolstering pat on the back for his hard work without it being patronising or forced, and he quickly comes back out of his shell.

In many instances both in and out of cutscenes, it's very obvious that everyone is aware of
Josh' autism, but instead of treating him exceptionally, they treat him as they do eachother, just with that extra touch of understanding and patience. As someone with autistic friends, it really, really impressed me. Ubisoft's treatment of autism in general in this game is probably the best example I've ever seen in mainstream media.

Some story beats that confused me so far:

When Marcus was
caught by blum cto, he mentioned that he was kicked off of CTOS and is flagged as a fugitive... yet after that all my powers still work just fine? I expected at least a mission or 2 when i have no hacking power.

Another thing: I get that
Horatio not having no dialogue in side missions that you can do in any order makes logical sense, but man does he not stand out at all outside of the google mission. His death had less impact than it should imo.

I am genuinely amazed at how fucking awful the Alcatraz side mission was. I love how you melee one guy from behind and literally every single enemy is instantly alerted AND knows where you are. Took me like 6 tries to do it, made me almost stop playing forever. Ubisoft is so shitty as designing fun missions.

Marcus wasn't
"kicked off" ctOS, he was flagged as a fugitive in ctOS. Which had no effect on gameplay, and from a narrative perspective was quickly fixed afterwards by T-Bone.

It's impossible to kick someone off ctOS.

As for Horatio, yeah. I agree.

I just hid on the deck right above where the van is. One guy eventually came up the stairs but I tazed him fast enough that the rest of them didn't find me till it was too late. Then I just jumped in the bay and swam away.

Looks like I'm about half way through the main quests. I'm just about to start W4tched.
Horatio is dead and I just killed all the people who did it
. I think now is a good time to take a break from the main quests and do side quests and try get more skills. I've kinda been rushing through the main story for a bit now. I can't get enough of the game right now and I'm seriously considering getting the season pass.

Yeah im still pissed about the whole
horatio thing. His only point in existence in this game is for the 'hey black people don't exist in the tech industry!', then they wrote him off like an actor leaving a tv show, and from the handfuls of missions afterwards, its like he never existed before that google mission and after. A really shitty way to handle this imo. No clue if there was production issues or what not, but in the end Horatio feels more manufactured than a character. Which is the worst thing you can do when trying to talk about a legit issue in our world.

This problem is inherent to the way they decided to do the mission structure.

Having each mission be its own standalone thing, nothing that happens during a mission carries on to a next one, narratively.

Marcus does some CRAZY shit, but as soon as the "mission accomplished" prompt comes up, both him and the squad just forget it ever happened. Sometimes you get some random epilogue-esque dialogue when the team calls each other on the phone [even when you're standing next to them in the hackerspace], but that's it. Nothing carries weight, nothing has any consequence. Perhaps the best example for this is the
spoofed followers
mission.
You get a mission that tells you that 1/3rd of your entire follower count is fake, but it has zero consequences on your actual follower number. You investigate, you have a run in with Duchan, you run from the cops. But that's it. NOTHING happens.

I guess the best way to deal with this huge disconnect is to just see each mission as an episode in a sitcom or something. There are a few overarching plotlines, but almost everything else starts and ends with the same mission.

Someone wrote a really heart-felt note about the treatment of J
osh and how the other characters responded to him. The writing team did a great job with Josh, in my opinion.

max out IED.

get the ability to drop bombs from your drones.

beat most missions without requiring marcus to set foot in a danger zone.

yep. Which is why
killing horatio off midway without drastically changing the tone of anything was a bad decision. If they were gonna off someone without impacting the 'tone' of the game, best do it near the finale imo.

He never felt like part of the group, but given his role (as team co-ordinator, based on the audio tapes) I guess it makes sense. He's the mature, level-headed member of the group who brought the team together. I think him having a legitimate job was more for the sake of illustrating that maturity. But I agree, the game handles him weirdly - he should be doing what T-Bone does in the latter half of the game. I was amazed that somehow they made him feel like a token character
.

Lashley

Why does he wear the mask!?
So tempted to get this, even though I've got a ton of games in my backlog, might just drop the £20 and get it.

one thing I am getting more and more aggravated with is when you're getting mission dialogue and an online event pops up...it cuts off the dialogue so you miss all of it

I've lost track of how many times this has happened

also there have been a few times where I've been on a mission and an online event pops up during the middle of it and once I complete the mission objectives nothing happens because the game seems to be stuck in that online event...I have to exit and go back in to get the mission to actually complete correctly

I hid near the van and started hacking. After they became aware and started looking for me, I waited until right before one of them was going to see me... then I triggered the hack that disrupts everybody's communication equipment and stuns them all for several seconds. Used that opportunity to jump into the van and take off, I was gone before they saw which way I went.

Why wouldn't you?

The result is the exact same, albeit a bit comical because well, you know, they're just knocked out.

the wording of the objective was weird. Seems silly if tazing someone = 'neutralize' :p

But then melee is 'lethal' according to the game so who knows.
