What does this post mean?
I'm saying, how can people paid to do this only come up with this alleged story and the disjointed story of the current XV?

One poster came up with the bros leaving for a road trip as sort of a bachelor get away before Noctis is to be wed. This allows for all of the open world shenanigans and hunts and sidequests take place without conflicting with the tonal shift that happens at the beginning of the adventure as it is currently. It was said that some of the main quest lines could have hinted at bigger things happening which I've mentally expanded on as *FFXV story context spoilers*
maybe Ardyn and the empire moving pieces in place to manipulate Noctis into "unlocking" the kingdom and THEN Noctis fights his way back home after finding out for the more story-driven, linear portion of the game.

I've also expressed interest in Noctis'
bloodline being tied to Diabolos since summons seemed to be an integral part of XV's story once upon a time. It would have made sense considering the ring powers, their death-like sigils and dark motifs (and the Omen trailer/voice-over).

I'm just saying, it's pretty easy to smooth out the current story and I feel it's better than even what I'm reading here about this potential Vs XIII.

How did Tabata handle the female characters in Type-0?

Let me guess, they were anime cliche as fuck.

There's a sidequest where you peeping Tom a female character in her room and she can be wearing nothing but a bra and panties.

Additionally every female character has their own personal underwear. But that was actually done by a female so 😂

Urgh seriously the effing cowardice with LUna's character is sickening.

This is literally the WORST character and a shameful creation

At least with Lightning Toriyama was proud of the character he'd written and wanted to show her off to the world.

With Luna the team had no vision, no drive, were cowardly about how she'd be received.

Piss poor creation. People like this should NOT be in charge of a FF game. And stinks of all the other issues XV ultimately ended up having. (still a great game though so dont wanna sound too negative)

Apparently the game only had three years of actual development time on it (FFXV).

Nomura really didn't do jack shit did he?

FUCK MY LIFE!!!!

Tell us everything you know about Versus

The game centered about death, ghosts and hallucination/dreams. Noctis killed the female protagonist before the game started but he didn't remember. Ardyn was Noctis ancestor and he was responsible of the crystals disappearing over time (the only one left was Lucis crystal). Regis died in front of Noctis because his bodyguards betrayed him. The protagonists had to leave the capital because their nation lost the war.

The game didn't focus on summons that much (they still existed) and instead there were actual gods which didn't appear physically. One of the gods was the main antagonist of the first FF game. Each nation was inspired by a different capital of the world. The empire was using ghosts as weapons. Ravus wanted to kill Noctis for having killed her sister. The game ended in another dimension which was supposed to be their version of the after-life.

It's hard to remember every detail.

This actually sounds fucking amazing T_T

Wow, you can see carry over ideas from that to the final game, if any of that is true.

Apparently the game only had three years of actual development time on it (FFXV).

Nomura really didn't do jack shit did he?

Nomura directing VIIR has me worried this will take a century to finish for that reason. :(

It sounds good to me, sorry. Kingdom Hearts might be a mess but I think it's really good at pulling at my heartstrings and this sounds like that plus Silent Hill 2. I'd love it

(sort of repeated myself here but I posted this in the seperate thread before it got merged in all fairness )

I was really disappointed by Chapter 14, you get that amazing atmosphere and "world of ruin" like, and then you can't do anything in it.

Dunno what y'all are reading but this plot sounds like a masterpiece for me

And imagine the plot twist that you killed stella?!!

Something to top aeris' death and all gaming plot twists
I don't WANT to kill the girl. I want a good ending WITH the girl.

Basically we all got Omen'd.

Assuming this is all true, the dev team were in a tough spot and had to release the game unfinished. What a pain that must have been. It also stings that they felt like there was more to be done but couldn't get to it. They needed at least another year me thinks.

Which hype? The trailers were actually focused on Noctis and his party members. The fans hyped Stella for no reason.

The very first teasers showed Noctis and Stella first though, so the assumption that she'd play a big role wouldn't be too far-fetched.

That said, that was very early stuff which was primarily conceptual, according to Nomura, if I remember right. Versus only solidified Stella's role a little later, pro'lly around '11 or so, I think? And if that turned out to be this...

...honestly, I would be a bit upset, lol. I'm a victim of the Stella hype myself, but the initial allusions to Romeo/Juliet and the ambiguity of their relationship really piqued my interest.

Some of that is in FFXV but yeah I hope they take the remainder and put it in FFXV2 or FFXVI

Did all those rumors about XIV's plot from earlier in the year turn out true?

Edit: this post makes no sense now that the threads have been merged

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
In the end it sounds like what we didn't get of Vs. XIII was sufficiently repurposed into XV.

On Ardyn:
Still true

On Ravus:
Changed from being angry at Noctis for killing his sister to being angry at Regis for not saving his mother

On Stella: ded

On the ending:
Still happens in the afterlife

On the empire using ghosts:
Still sort of true - actually, the MTs/daemons seem cooler

On the different regions and their crystals:
Shame about the London region being cut, Solheim was always a bust, the rest are still there - other three crystals unmentioned but could still have existed

I see. You're right; my apologies.

As for the US, who knows? It's already the third highest selling game (PS4 version) on Amazon for 2016, behind UC4 and Pokemon Sun/Moon. I know this is anecdotal, but an acquaintance of mine at GameStop said there was a big demand and lots of copies sold. Who knows? I personally think it's selling well.

I case anyone missed it:

Tell us what changed. Exactly, in detail, as much as you can remember.

Well, the first stop after Altissia had an (smaller) open world area and you could drive the car alone.
There was a level leading up to when you encounter the Shiva statue.
The dark world section of the game featured more enviroments, you encountered each party member in different locations and you could explore part of Lestallum.
The final boss (which was another Ardyn form) got cut early this year.
The Tenebrae invasion happened after the protagonist entered the city and you got to explore a very small section of the city and Luna's chamber.
Scenes that featured Luna got cut because they were considered to be problematic.
Cor got written out of the last half of the story since it made no sense for him to show up (he was Noctis companion during the small open area after Altissia).

I... I cannot. This would explain so much but is 4chan so I have to take it with a mountain of salt... but i want to believeeeee

I believe in an interview Tabata said when he took over development, the date the game would ship was already decided and he had to do his best to meet that date. Not surprising.

wtf does this mean

luna is currently "problematic"

unless it means pervy problematic in which case we probably dodged an even bigger bullet.

If this is true, we got the cliffnotes version of what this game was supposed to be.

Square rushed it, even with the Luna stuff missing out on this is sad, hopefully we can get DLC to alleviate it.

Probably rape. That's the only thing I would think would problematic enough for this team. something something suffering builds character something something

There were references to the heroine having been abused by other characters, some scenes would have featured Luna crying because of her health and there were also mentions of her goal in life being meeting the male protagonist's expectations/objectives, which the team considered that were going to be problematic since the game had been carrying a bad reputation because of the way they portrayed female characters.

Here you go

You could still get your dream esque ending XV got for Versus. It would be more bittersweet then.

But hang on...it wouldn't make any sense
Neither of the games (if the Versus leak is true) make sense. It was the
death of Luna
that completely soured the game for me. I haven't even played it yet but it drove my desire to almost nothing. Had Versus done the same thing, well, it wouldn't have been good for me.

This sounds funny, but people need to be careful with
the hacker knows as
4chan. /v/ is not a news site, it's a site with literally anyone can post. I could go there and write you the life and death of FFXV pretending to be an-insider.

... but I see memes are already out, so this will most likely be the accepted version of the story in a few weeks.

There was a scene of child Luna getting physical abuse in a fairly late trailer wasn't there? That'd be an example of one of those scenes

That sounds incredible.

That's the type of crazy plot I'd want in my JRPG.

Right? I feel like they tried to keep things simple in XV for the most part. I would've preferred something crazy, I like my JRPGs batshit insane.

I heard that the team had to change and delete certain scenes about her because they portrayed her in a way that would have been criticized nowadays. And like what happened with everything else, it seems like her role in the story wasn't able to get fixed before release

How on earth could they portray Luna in a less empowering more criticize-able way?

Nomura on 3rd birthday since it's been brought up:

Nomura first suggested the gameplay system that sees main character Aya's clothing tear off as she incurs damage from the Twisted. As Aya incurs damage, she shows more skin, but enemy hit rates also become higher. Nomura believes that players who want to see Aya show more of herself will be faced with a dilemma as they play. During the game's design phase, he told Tabata that they should make sure Aya got weaker as her clothing tore off precisely because some players might purposely make her take damage just to see more of her body.

So how far can you go with the clothing? Nomura wouldn't say for sure. However, he recalled that when the staff had asked him how far they should go, he'd responded that bikini level should be okay. This is one area that we're going to have to experiment with on our own.

The scenes with Luna 'crying because of her health'

So remember that scene between her and Ravus where she was kind of whimpering at the start unlike we had seen her ever in the game so it felt totally out of character?

That is probably what they mean

The game ended up cutting those scenes and making it even weired when we got the scene of her in Altissa with Ravus and we were wondering why only now do we see that she is 'ill'

What a trainwreck

Square rushed it, even with the Luna stuff missing out on this is sad, hopefully we can get DLC to alleviate it.
Hoping personally that these patches fix what's missing. Because this could be a 10/10 game if it had a bit more time. Just depends on how much substantial stuff they're willing to add.

It became apparent pretty quickly after the re-reveal that they barely had done anything on the new game, regardless of what Nomura had done with his skeleton crew. From the looks of it and what they've shown to us, they went through their own development hell with the engine and I wouldn't be surprised if that ate most of their dev time and resources.

Looking back at the E3 trailer it sort of makes sense? I would love to read the original script some day.

I'm rewatching some of the scenes and it actually does make sense. There are some visual motifs that actually do fit if she was dead all along.

This is legit amazing.
