Xbox One Download Games |OT| News, Announcements, Reviews, and Impressions Thread

I just looked at the store page for Soda Drinker Pro,a nd skimmed through the Giant Bomb quick look. I'm convinced this is the worst game since the Xbox One release, not just this year.

I didn't (and wouldn't) buy it, but I am going to agree that, by watching footage and reading reviews, it's the worst game ever to be released on the XBO.

I would argue that Frizzy is the worst Xbox One game. Soda Drinker Pro is bad on purpose, but it also has some humor and creativity. I've met the lead designer, and he's a very funny guy, even if I don't fully agree with his vision for the game. Frizzy is a totally inept student project with no redeeming values.

Thankfully that's not available in the UK!

A friend and I nearly bought 7 Days to Die when it released on XB1. I watched some streams and videos, and it just did not look good. I've had multiple people recommend it to me though, so I don't know.

It's a really good implementation of that type of game. If that Minecraft/survival gameplay isn't for you, then it won't change your mind.

But if you do like it, it's a blast, and the gameplay easily overcomes the potato graphics.

Disclaimer is that I've only ever played it on a 1070 and have no idea if console performance is a deal-breaker.

I got the 1000/1000 in Enigmatis 2 over the weekend. It's a solid 4/5.

There are so many puzzle-type games released recently, I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the following?

Ones I'm close to pulling the trigger on (as soon as I clean up my backlog):

Wheels of Aurelia
ittle Dew 2
Yesterday Origins (although I might skip this until it's fixed, since it has an unobtainable achievement and it's impossible to 1000/1000)

Don't know about these:

Clouds of Sheep 2
headlaner
Bombing Busters

ittle dew 2 is a nice Zelda clone with some decent combat and reasonable puzzles. The real challenge/point of the game is not playing it through in sequence, but working out optimal routes to beat the game asap, which requires more thought and a lot more skill (beating bosses with weaker weapons, etc). I've just trundled through it in sequence and it's fun.

I don't suppose anyone here knows what happened to a game called Silence? I saw it appear on PSN about 2 weeks ago now, and the devs said it was out in Xbox One a couple of days later (as did several websites) but it never appeared and the devs don't bother answering tweets. Cheers

Kinda annoying they added a dollar for the Bethesda tables but I guess it is to be expected.

Played them and they are fantastic.

How is Abzu? I am a great fan of Flower and liked the Journey though I never played it thoroughly. It is great to have the opportunity to play a game by the devs on the One but I am wondering how it plays compared to their previous work.

It's a beautiful and magnificent game - the prettiest one I've ever played. Exploring the ocean world and interacting with sea life is really interesting, and the minimalistic story is intriguing as well. People who like Journey will almost certainly dig Abzu.

Here's a livestream I made of the PS4 version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTttp761EPE

I'm an achievement nut but I'm so glad I graduated into not caring if I lose a completion. I lost a 1000/1000 completion because of Goat Simulator DLC and it feels good to not care. The game is so unfun and aggravating. I will NOT be buying that new dlc.

One bad habit I haven't gotten rid of is the need to maximize achievements in any non-zero-gamerscore game that I barely started. So I have 300 gamerscore in Xbox Fitness and 60 gamerscore in Dark Souls and I dislike both games. I say "eventually you gotta play them to completion" but I just can't bring myself to. I keep delaying it and procrastinating.

I'm close to not giving a shit at this point. I love achievements and they're the best thing to happen to gaming in my eyes (because of the record-keeping / history it provides). But I've gotta will myself into not giving a shit about Xbox Fitness and Dark Souls.

I know what you mean. I'm still partially bothered by incompletes if I'm being 100% honest. I am however better about letting it go, mostly thanks to online achievements last gen. The bug still hits me every now and then depending on the game.

Just finished Episode 2 of King's Quest. Initially I didn't like it but once it dawned on me exactly what the game play structure was like, I was pretty impressed. Episode 2 of King's Quest is in a weird sense almost like a poor man's or soft version of Dead Rising 1 or Majora's Mask (with respect to the use of a time mechanic). It's kind of nuts that the developers had the fucking balls to design the episode like this. Hats off to them.

Basically,
early on in the episode you, three other groups of townspeople, and a unicorn buddy, are imprisoned. You're the only prisoner that's allowed to walk freely. As you walk around, you can talk to the other prisoners, solve puzzles, try to collect useful items. Eventually you run out of stuff to do and you have to go to sleep. But every time you go to sleep, a day passes, and when you wake up, the other prisoners get weaker and weaker. You _normally_ get only one piece of food per day and it's up to you to decide whether you'll eat it yourself or give it to one of the other prisoners to strengthen their spirits. The level design is quite sophisticated (compared to most other modern games) and I'm having fun thinking off the top of my head what the best path would be to save all the prisoners. In my first playthrough, two of the groups died / were taken away. I'll be honest, as I do a second playthrough I'll probably use a guide to save them all but still this was really awesome
.

Come on my pretty, give me another go. What's the worst that could happen? >;)

Heheh that's a cute little guy. Maybe I'll praise the sun but I don't think I'll tackle Dark Souls again. I'm a softie - I'd rather play more relaxing games.

You know what, I'll just say fuck it. No reason to play those games if I won't find them fun.

Is Silence-The Whispered World 2 the first indie or even non-Microsoft published title to support cross-buy? The Windows 10 version is not out yet.

Bought Energy Cycle because I'm a sucker for easy GS. I am trying to justify the $3 as it being the same price as an iced coffee I didn't buy today that I normally would have. Go me

I owned bastion on 360 but when I try to download it for Xbox One it acts like it's going to charge me $14.99?

Are you sure you are logged in with the account that has the Bastion license attached to it?
Easiest way to check it to log in and check the 360 store page. If a price is shown then that account doesn't have a license attached.

If there were an issue there would be a bunch of noise on various sites but I'm not seeing any.

Has anyone tried the Plantronics 400HX (or 500HX) headset(s)? Looking for a low end set that is decent, and these seem to have great reviews. The 500HX seems to be an earlier model that doesn't have volume control, so I'd be getting the 400HX that looks the same (and has the same specs) but includes a volume control nob. These seem like a way better option than the Recon 50X or a PDP set. Unless someone says otherwise, I'll be grabbing them after work.

I especially like the amount of Local and Online MP it has available. Was anyone in the closed Beta able to talk about it? It seems like the game went really quiet after a while...

Oh, I can't wait. I was in the beta and I stopped playing after about 30 minutes. The animations were incomplete, etc, so I didn't want to poo the experience up. It was hilarious and I can't wait to get back to it.

Ended up pre-ordering Yooka-Laylee. Snagged Bastion since it's free and double dipped for Stardew Valley. I have no idea when I'm going to play anything because I'm working through FFXV, Dishonored 2, Gears 4, Recore, a little Mass Effect here and there and Titanfall 2 for kicks. Shit is crazy right now.
