Verizon Wireless has these in stock right now for immediate shipping!

Just grabbed a pair for 2-day shipping. I'm pumped to join the party.

Has anybody had their local store show availability for in-store pickup in the past 5 days or so? No matter where I search it seems like nobody has been getting any stock of these.

Nothing in NYC, but it's the day after Christmas and all. They had no stock, and no replacement stock for my missing left bud, and had to order special for delivery this week.

edit: my mistake, I missed the part about avails for in-store pick-up. I'd imagine on Apple.com, if they show up at all, it would be the first 15-30 minutes after they open, if at all.

Mine showed up as in stock at 11:15am, about 2 hours after they opened. All depends on when they get delivered and when they're logged into their system.

Check Target.com last night and my local Target showed in stock. Checked BrickSeek and it said 1 in stock. I was too tired to go and the store closed in an hour. Checked BrickSeek this morning and still said 1 in stock so I decided to check it out. Got here when the store opened... and there it was. Finally got it!

You should do some research on completely wireless earbuds before making a post like a that, would take you 30 seconds

Maybe you should because they're a shit ton less than these airpods. Are these supposed to be better sounding than wired earpods? Because those are average sounding pack-in earbuds and if these are just wireless versions of those I don't get the price.

Man, the soft plastic they use for the case scratches up like a mofo, reminds me of the shit that tey used on the very first iPods.

Oh well, doesn't really matter how the case looks I guess!

Just came across the iFixit teardown while I was looking for info on the charging case.
Pretty interesting. https://ifixit.com/Teardown/AirPods+Teardown/75578

Btw, do they turn off at all? I feel asleep while listening to some music last night and set the timer to stop playback after 20mins just in case that happens (to save phone battery). Woke up to the AirPods having about 70% charge (down from 100%). So I guess as long as they are paired they still draw battery?
They fell out of my ears eventually but I didn't pay attention whether or not they were still paired. Probably not gonna use them for late night listening again :p

I think they do, because I had them in the case for the past ~3 hours and the case is at 92%, pods 100%. I think there's a slow draw on them. Some people online are saying it shouldn't drain that much on standby but who knows how it works. Maybe they drain power to make sure the connection is quick and easy.

"Testing conducted by Apple in August 2016 using preproduction AirPods units and software paired with preproduction iPhone 7 units and software. The playlist consisted of 358 unique audio tracks purchased from the iTunes Store (256-Kbps AAC encoding). Volume was set to 50%. Testing consisted of full AirPods battery discharge while playing audio until the first AirPod stopped playback. The drained AirPods were charged for 30 minutes, then audio playback was continued until the first AirPod stopped playback. This cycle was repeated until both the AirPods and the Charging Case were fully discharged. Battery life depends on device settings, usage, and many other factors."

That makes it seem like it was play till die, charge, play till die and repeat in regards to the 25 hour thing. If the pods draw power when in the case it'll reduce the amount of charges you'd get. I guess the real way to tell would be to just take the pods out of the case and see what the standby is on them alone.

Got the call from my local store that they had a new left AirPod for me to replace my lost one. Got there and no one knew what I was talking about. The awesome sales rep just took a new box, opened it up, gave me the new egg, took my old one, and sent me on my way with a "Merry Christmas!"

When Apple nails customer service they really nail customer service. I was thrilled.

AT&T's website has them in stock, and it doesn't say anywhere that they are backordered. What are the chances that they are actually in stock, ready to ship out today?

Welp, went ahead and ordered a set. We'll see if they actually end up shipping on time or not. I guess I can always cancel them if they don't.

It's white, you have to look for the scratches, even then, you're literally looking for scratches on a case that's just going to be in a pocket 95% of the time

Regarding AT&T, I ordered from them last week (and just paid for normal shipping) but I received mine yesterday. People on Reddit said if you did expedited shipping, you got it in 2 days. Definitely worth trying if it doesn't show that it's back ordered!

Wtf. I asked them about replacing a lost one and they gave me the run around for hours. Total waste of time. Gotta love that Apple inconsistency.

They did for me as well at first. I don't think Apple has a process in place for replacing these things. But when I noticed yesterday that they never gave me a receipt or order number when I went for the replacement originally, I suspected they fucked something up internally.

I think something is wrong with my kit. I witnessed some awfully short battery life of the case on my second charge and decided to collect data during the third. This is how it turned out with ONE hour of AirPods music playback usage in these 48 hours.
Can't possibly be right (or Apple used some awfully whitewashed process to come up with the "1 full charging case = 24h battery life for AirPods" ad).

What are your experiences?

That seems odd. One thing I'd just like to ask is have you tried resetting the AirPods by pressing and holding the setup button on the case for fifteen seconds until it flashes amber and then flashes white? If not, try that and see if the battery life improves at all or if you're experiencing the same drain.

I've just seen this tip a few minutes ago. I'll charged the case to 100% again and will try the reset trick afterwards. I hope it helps, no Apple Store near me and quite frankly I don't want to return them blindly via mail without a replacement in hand :(

...hate me...
In my experience, the case does consume some battery while in standby, but nothing drastic.

Got my pair today and used them for about an hour. Some thoughts so far..

1. Switching between devices is not as quick as I expected. You select the AirPods from the output dropdown in the control centre, but it is not instantaneous. I don't see myself doing this very often though, so I don't think it really matters much at all.

2. The fit is fine, but so were EarPods for me. They don't feel like they will fall out. After an hour, my ears definitely had the slight ache of having hard plastic earbuds in my ears, but it wasn't a big deal. In-ear buds are definitely more comfortable for me, but I also find that I have to keep shoving those in. I didn't have that issue with these.

3. The sound is definitely decent. People who think EarPods are trash might be thinking of the original iPod/iPhone earbuds, but EarPods are actually pretty good these days. The AirPods do sound a bit bassier to me but the sound quality is probably comparable. It's not mind blowing but it is good.

4. I cannot get the double-tap to reliably trigger at all. I've seen other people say this online as well, but there are also a bunch of people who don't have an issue at all. Maybe I just need to figure out the right spot.

5. The lack of wires is surprisingly awesome. I never really thought about how annoying they can be. I was walking around my apartment tidying up, cleaning dishes, laying down on the couch, and I never had a wire getting caught on something. I read some impressions of a person saying these are amazing at the gym because there are no wires getting caught on things. It's been a while since I worked out (sigh) but I do remember that being a huge annoyance with my phone and wired earbuds. These would be great in that situation.

My single favorite thing so far is if, on the off-chance I have to make an actual voice-call is grabbing one AirPod, popping it in my ear, double tapping, and having a regular phone call. So cool.

I don't have Airpods, but I noticed wearing my Bluetooth headphones that I moved as if expecting a wire to be there. IOW I've gotten so accustomed to wire that it changes how I do things when I put headphones on. It's the sort of thing you don't notice until you try wireless I think.
