Killer Instinct Season 3 |OT| Super Microsoft All-Star Bros for Xbox One & Windows 10

I didn't see it on the stream and a quick search showed nada: Any Killgore trailer released/announced?

I don't think we got a Kilgore trailer, but Kilgore is out right now if you wanted to buy him.

Come to think of it, I'm not sure if we got a trailer for the new Shadow Jago.

I bought the full S2 release for I think $50 when it came out on Win10, but I found it pretty difficult to get used to the game, specifically breaking. That and none of my friends play it so all I do is practice to play random people online. Even still I'm thinking about trying it again as I'm getting real tired of SFV. I remember the netcode being amazing in KI.

I spent so much time trying to learn how to tell the difference between the strengths of attacks for breaking and couldn't really get it. I tried looking at the speed of the move, the animation of my characters block, the sound effect... I was playing Orchid because she seemed very straight forward at the time.

Use this guide then.

I like how Kilgore's radically different playstyle still has some nice parallels to Fulgore's. Fulgore has to play aggressive and up-close to make his meter charge and give him more options for mixups and zoning, while Kilgore has to do zoning to give him spin speed that he can use to play more aggressively.

(Note; this is me talking out of my casul ass.)

Yah it really contrast Fulgore well
My favorite touch is that at the very beginning of Kilgore's taunt, it look likes its about to do Fulgore's taunt but then does the salute.

Okay, download the free version of the game and check the in game store. I'm pretty sure you can buy S1 by itself there. If not then I assume they will be giving S1 away with S2 this month if they are tied together in the stores.

It's not on the in-game store either! I will have to hope for a discount somewhere on Seasons 1-3.

You mean when they made Shadow Jago into a full-fledged character? Yeah, there was a trailer for that.

I see! I guess I never took notice of it. I guess that means a proper Kilgore trailer will come at some point. There actually probably should be a trailer, ending with "Kilgore out now! $10, with $5 of that going to future Killer Instinct tournaments!".

Rare reply technically has 10000, and Master Chief collection has 6000.
Speaking of achievements, can I implore 14 of you nice fellows to fight my shadow in shadow lab.

I can, but please share or PM your tag, so I can find it, otherwise let us know what character/cost to look for on the challenge boards.

No way in hell am I paying $10 when I paid $50 for the whole game last year.
It is far too expensive. I'm gonna wait for a deal or a Season 4 pack or something. From what I've played, he is very fun though.

$5 of the Kilgore purchase goes to tournaments for KI. I consider this an investment, just like Shadow Jago was.

Kilgore is far from a clone character, as well.

Stuff like that is so stupid though. SFV and Gears of War did this. Sorry but fun your own prize money and community events.

At this point I'm pretty sure every game with a competive scene does.

This game doesn't recognize my old 360 arcade stick for some reason.

Is there anything special I'm supposed to do to make it work?

Windows 10.

Kudos to those willing to support this! For me it just comes across as more nickel and dimming! And for my nickel and dime I do think Akuma is a better value than Kilgore!

In this day and age fighting games don't live in a vacuum. They compete with each other for gamer's attention, time and funds! What KI started on X1 was fresh, new and exciting! Renewing an old fighting franchise with seasons. Providing new characters, new stages and new accessories. The first two seasons provided a standard that offered fun and value. I don't think the third season continued that. It just seems like it's a become a money grubbing venture. I can't recommend KI over SFV! SFV might've had it's rough start and has it's own money grubbing scheme. But it's pretty much taken the monetary package value concept started by KI and improved upon it while KI has gotten worse (weaker season 3, no stages, color puffs skins, neon pets, $10 clone character). I think it was a poor decision to offer Kilgore for $10 even if was under the guise of community funding for tournaments! If you want to expand your community give them something of value that the opposition isn't offering! With that I'm unpinning this game from my favorites untill they returned to their standards of value! lol!

Kudos to MS for the free 2nd season on 1/16/17! Kudos to gamers with good intentions who support KI! Thumbs down on fulgore's clone cousin for 10 smacks and thumbs down on the open invitational in NYC before the free second season!

Controller support got screwed up for a number of 360 controllers and some others in a recent game update, despite working in other Windows games still.

Huh?

Street Fighter V charges for EVERYTHING or provides the option of major grinding to buy SOME stuff.

Street Fighter V's entire pricing and release model has and continues to be OBJECTIVELY worse than KI.

I swear whenever I put this game down for an extended amount of time something major happens. When the fuck did Kilgore get added to the game? How does he play? What is the Ultra Tour? Is he available only for a limited time? Why is there two extra character slots? Are there more characters plan to be added?

Do you even know what objectively means? Comparing the perceived value between two different games and their respective pricing models is a totally subjective matter.

1) Kilgore was added just this past Tuesday.

2) He is almost literally the opposite of Fulgore. Where Fulgore needs to get in and initiate pressure to get his "spin speed" up, Kilgore needs to zone in order to "heat up" and be able to rush down effectively.

3) The Ultra Tour is just the name to the season of KI tournaments leading up to the KI Cup.

4) Kilgore is a legit character that you can purchase at any point now.

5) Kilgore is the start of the first wave of post Season 3 content. There are 2 other characters coming in the near future.

How do you mean? You can objectively compare the two products, what they offer and at what price, and that can be a wholly objective process.

I mean sure you can choose to like one over the other, but you can find out the facts on what proposition is the better one.

Does anyone here use a dualshock 4 with this game on PC?

A friend of mine was trying out the game using ds4windows and it would work fine for a minute but whenever he'd alt-tab out (basically required to accept/send invites) it would stop working. He'd have to relaunch the game for the ds4 to sync and work properly again and then repeat...

Anyone know what could possibly be the issue? Or if ds4windows just completely won't work? I feel like it's something simple and easy he's doing wrong but figured I'd ask lol

It's how you perceive the value in the two items. Unless the games have an identical set up, you can't do a like for like comparison. For example, how much fun is the single player 'vs campaign' in Killer Instinct? Does it give more enjoyment that the single player 'vs campaign' of Street Fighter? How do you quantify the 'fun' of each game? How long does it take to complete each game? How long before you get bored of each game?

In a nutshell, you need to compare like for like quantifiable metrics in order to be objective. As soon as you bring any subjective qualities into play, you cease to be objective in your assessment.

I'm wondering if some one can help me, I'm a little bit confused about the definitive edition. I already bought season 3 supreme on the Windows store so I have cross play. However I have found a cheap physical copy of the definitive edition and I want it for shadow jago and the soundtrack. If I install it to the Xbox will shadow jago carry over to my PC version? I've been looking around and have had trouble finding the answer.

True but that's the problem. Let's be honest, once the gaming industry can screw something up, they are willing to take it. From what I can tell, in the past year companies have jumped on the new bandwagon of, "Fund our community tournament". SFV, Gears of War, KI etchave recently done this. They've all held a community tournament, created DLC that is outside of the Season and the only way to get access to this content is via a separate transactions from the store. The DLC is far too overpriced and I'm not not interested in "helping to contribute" a tournament prize pool that I see no benefit from as someone living in the UK/Europe. Get Microsoft to contribute it, not the fans who have already put down £90 on your game already.

The difference with SFV and Gears 4 was that they were cosmetic and while cosmetic is still an important aspect of the game is still worth ranting about, they aren't an integral part of the game like a character that can shift the meta, in this case, Kilgore.

I only expect to this trend increase now that companies seem to be pretty confident on this "community contribution tournaments".

True but we are talking about KI. Comparing it to SFV is kinda irrelevant.

I don't think so. The way content carries over the Windows Store/Xbox Marketplace is via the account you're on. So when you log on to the Windows 10 marketplace, the system sees you have purchased season 1, 2, Fulgore Skin, Jago Head Accessory 3 etc, not that you have played a physical disc that contained that content. It's basically what content licenses you own on your account.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that is how it works.

Quick question about the definitive edition.

I bought KI at the onset of Season 3 with the Ultra Edition along with Shadow Jago, and I just purchased Kilgore as well to support the game. I noticed this bullet point among the listed features for the definitive edition:

  • Explore the lore, characters and history of Killer Instinct with all-new behind-the-scenes videos, trailers and art
What exactly is this extra behind-the-scenes content, and is there any way to access it if we already own all of the game's content from previous seasons?

Awesome stuff. Glad they are still supporting the game and glad I don't have to buy right away.

Physical copies of games for Xbox One aren't Play Anywhere.

All the people complaining about the cost of characters rarely seem to mention or consider the fact that KI has been essentially f2p since day 1 with the second season being given away with games with gold later this month...additionally the first season has already been gwg and i think it would be safe to assume that if the game goes on to have several more seasons, it will be likely that season 3 eventually makes its way to the gwg list as well....not sure how anybody can interpret MS/IG as money grubbers...ive invested hundreds of hours into KI without spending a dime and have only recently spent money after feeling olbigated to for all the free content the game has provided me with...at some point IG does need to make some money off this stuff since its safe to assume that at some point the majority of content becomes free in some capcity (ie. Chararcter rotations, gwg etc.)...its not unreasonable for them to charge 10 dollars for a new character that will likely go on sale sometime in the near future...complaining about that just makes people appear entitled.

To be fair Microsoft did contribute over 100,000 for the Ultra tour. This is just getting extra money for production and pot value purposes. I know the Capcom Pro Tour had pretty decent money behind it and still used the added money front the dlc to sweeten the pot.

I was trying to play some SFV and I kept getting disconnected, got frustrated, and launched MKX. Then eventually got disconnected, lol. So I launched KI and the online was flawless. I've tried to give this game plenty of chances, yet the gameplay doesn't really click with me... but I've decided I'm going to try it again because, man, it truly deserves my time since it's an awesome PC port with amazing netcode. I just need to learn the ropes, I guess... though I really, really don't like fighters that are focused on super long combos. Oh well. I'll play some survival and then try my luck online :p

It's how you perceive the value in the two items.

Ehh...I would say the actual amount is more important than the "perceived value" when specifically comparing the pricing model...which is what the initial statement was about.

For example, how much fun is the single player 'vs campaign' in Killer Instinct? Does it give more enjoyment that the single player 'vs campaign' of Street Fighter? How do you quantify the 'fun' of each game? How long does it take to complete each game? How long before you get bored of each game?

"Fun". "Enjoyment". Getting "bored". Those ARE subjective things to look at, but that wasn't really what started this conversation...was it? Some people just don't like SF. Some people just don't like KI. That has nothing to do with the facts surrounding each product's offerings, which can wholly be compared and contrasted.

In a nutshell, you need to compare like for like quantifiable metrics in order to be objective. As soon as you bring any subjective qualities into play, you cease to be objective in your assessment.

Like for like:

- Price to get your foot in the door.
- What you get at the base line: Characters, modes, unlockable content, etc.
- Price breakdown per character, and what you get with each character.
- Price for "extra" DLC like cosmetics.

Those 4 areas are WHOLLY comparable, and encompass most of what makes each game the game they are. AFTER those comparisons you can get into the subjective material like how "fun" each title is.

I don't think you understand my point. One game for £30 with 30 characters isn't necessarily better value that another game for £30 with 40 characters. How much value do you place on each character? Would you get more value from a £10 game with 6 fighters from Street Fighter 2 or a £10 game with 8 fighters from Rise of the Robots?

I think it's safe to say all 25+ whatever characters aren't getting Ultimates whenever they're first patched in..maybe if we're lucky it'll be half in one update and half in another. Question is when, I'm thinking end of February for the first batch.
