I'll be rather shocked if the BG&E2 rumour ends up being accurate. It hasn't been corroborated, it's a software rumour and Dale backed the wrong horse vis-a-vis the Uncharted 4 DLC, and, most of all, the details have changed twice now (in production/2017 release/Switch exclusive -> in pre-production/2018 release/teaser during Switch reveal/Switch exclusive -> maybe a teaser during the Switch media event/timed Switch exclusive).

Not sure about this one, either, but Ubisoft leaks like a strainer. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be true.

Just realised the DeNA deal was announced 17th of March 2015.
Funny the Switch will most likely release exactly 2 years later.

Does she have more than one Ubisoft source? If not, then the same person who gave her the BG&E2 leak is likely the same person who leaked the Rabbids / Mario RPG. It'd be crazy if both of those were wrong.

I feel like she has multiple sources for both of these rumors though, but I could be wrong.

Edit: Alternatively, they could go with Alpha sprites which would open a much wider array of options for new characters without needing to make actual new sprites.
I think, if its real, they'll use Hyper SF2 as a base, and then add extra characters drawn in the SF2 style. A 3rd party indie could probably do all that work. They could redraw Alpha sprites, CvS sprites, make their own sprites for any SF4/V characters, etc.

I hope Nintendo & SEGA use this opportunity to show the new Sonic games off. If it's truly the Generations sequel I think it's gonna be, I'm in day 1. If it's some weird crap that it very well might be, I probably will pass. I loved Generations though, so if they show that they're dedicated to continuing that like of games, I'm in.

Really curious/nervous about what kind of voice over they'll use. Would it be logical to assume they'll have someone from Treehouse do it? Would they have a script?

Live translation voice overs for other gaming events have a track record for being pretty terrible to listen to. The one they used for the Nintendo x DeNA's live press conference was somewhat okay, but the flat and monotone delivery is pretty much a hype killer :p. I just listened to it again and this part just cracks me up.

It's now Jan 13 in Australia, Merry Switchmas.

Now, I would laugh my arse off if Nintendo announces live that Platinum Games is now a 1st party dev.

So if the Bomberman thing is real....
Is it safe to assume that Nintendo bought the Bomberman ip from Konami?
I mean they bought other ips like Momotaro from Konami....

Anybody planning on getting to a brick a mortar store to preorder? How early would you plan on arriving?
I'm stopping at the Gamestop up the street from my office at 9 and waiting until they open. I hope $100 is enough to preorder the console and every launch game I want. :)

I'll probably end up trading in every Wii U port that gets announced toward my launch purchase.

Fairly certain they'll have a script. That's standard for those kind of events I think. I also fear the speaker will have a monotone voice or strong accent or so. We can only hope. I'd be happy if it's anyone from Treehouse or a native English speaker.

An update to Street Fighter 2 is a hilarious idea. SF5 underperformed and can't be ported, so might as well bring back SF2! Nintendo fans will love it!

"PS4 gets SF5, Switch gets SF2"

I don't know either. It just seems like a bizarre selection of games to me.

That may be riding the nostalgia train a little too hard. Updated SFII with new characters and hopefully online play would be cool. But only as a Eshop title.

Or a Capcom Orange box maybe. Resident evil 4 or Remake HD or DEAD Rising, SFII, Megaman something, and Viewtiful Joe HD, breathe of fire hd, maxim, ducktales, or Onimusha.

Ubi being a leaky ship just makes it all the more peculiar that Dale remains the only (reputable) person asserting that Nintendo is involved to some extent. I hope for her sake that one of the variants of the rumour is correct as she's quadruple-downed on it now and her credibility, at least as far as software is concerned, may otherwise take quite a hit.

This would be pretty amazing. The only reason I find it hard to believe is due to an already-remade HD Street Fighter II game last generation on PSN and XBLA.

Merry Switchmas!

I'm really hoping they don't screw up the pre-order launch on Amazon like they did with the NES Classic this time around. If Nintendo pulls their false scarcity nonsense with this, the repercussions for them will be so much worse than with prior launches given how much hype there is around this thing so they'll only end up hurting themselves.

Plus, I need to secure a pre-order. I'm ready for some handheld AAA titles. Don't let me down, Ninty!

Not that I think it's happening, but again, it wouldn't be the first time Capcom updates SF2 for the series' anniversary, and it makes sense in a Sonic Mania, Double Dragon IV, Mario Maker kind of way :p

Dude, Street Fighter 2 is THE FIRST fighting game I ever played on a home console, and it was on SNES. I would fucking LOVE a new Street Fighter 2 game, and yeah, that shit would be a fucking riot!

Today is going to be a good day. Have fun everyone!
Today will be a good, but looooong day. There aren't enough distractions in the world to make 11 PM come faster.

Since me getting a Switch completely hinges on the upcoming Mario game, maybe I should play through some of SMG2, or binge SMM to move the day along.

Yeah I suppose that, even though it's a live press conference, everything that will be said on stage is already written down somewhere so it's probably already translated as well and they'll only have someone read out the translated script timed to the Japanese speaker

I'm hoping to be able to preorder one via phone call from work. Anyone know if that's a possibility? I'd like to use Best Buy.
Ehhh, that doesn't seem likely honestly. Probably better off trying to get one online, no? I'm not certain though, I've never bought anything over the phone.

I was thinking about 2 hours before the store opens. I took the day off a while ago, but I'd really rather not camp out.

I think the one silver lining (not for us, for the market at large) is if they do have some supply constrained shenanigans they should be good to go for its first holiday season on the market

it was a really smart idea to get this thing out in march, have some games release, and then come into the holiday season with an already established library, some momentum, and probably a big game or two releasing during the holiday season

Things have also changed rather dramatically. When she was at Destructoid she claimed that Nintendo was funding the project, and that's obviously why it's exclusive. Now all of a sudden it's just a timed-exclusive.
