I did consider giving L of the year to Gibbs. Obviously being a rapist is way worse than supporting Trump, but Gibbs always came across as a savage. Based on a couple of his interviews, it doesn't seem like his persona is completely made up for the music (although I'm sure there's some exaggeration). West's recent behavior is the culmination of a very disappointing decade long ideological recession. He descended from being a good person into a hypocritical asshole.
I agree on the original being pretty good. It was really surprising to read how divided people in here when it first came out. The production is excellent, Kanye's hilarious, and Kendrick sounds like he's having the time of his life. Definitely one of the better tracks on TLOP.
