Resident Evil 7 Spoiler Thread

How much is the Baker son, Lucas, in the game? We've seen loads of Jack and Margerite, but is the son a boss entity as well or just a peripheral character?

If you guys want to see the beginning, again I'm avoiding everything but watched the opening, but this video has oddly stayed safe for over a day:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XNLVsAqcrM

It's the first 45 minutes of the game. Or you can be like me and watch the opening, skip out on the rest.

Thank you sooo much for the footage guys! Absolutely stoked for this game now! I was worried about it being slow paced but that footage set the scene perfectly!

I have spoiled myself the whole ending hahah, but I wasnt going to play the game anyway, I just wanted to see what Capcom did this time.
Is there any video showing Jack's transformations?

I can pick this up now but they're selling it at about $75~$80, fuck that shit, not worth it.

They broke the street date (in the middle east et al).
That is why various play-through videos and streams are being taken down by the Capcom hounds.
Obviously such videos can be considered as "detailed previews" of the game that violate the embargo....

Does this game have any connection to Umbrella, or the remnants of it at all?

Most important question: could the Bakers take Wesker in a fight?

They could not, except the last boss. Umbrella shows up at the end and someone who identifies themselves as Chris Redfield(most likely HUNK) "saves" you and Mia.

I've only read this thread sporadically...so is there actually any explenation for "Chris" (An appearent imposter.) being there with Umbrella or does the game simply end like that without further clarification?

When asked about the title of the game (Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, or Biohazard 7 Resident Evil), director Nakanishi Koushi said that the game would explain why it has this unified title.
Did anyone find the answer as to why the two titles come together for the first time (Western and Japanese)?

It just ends like that. The way it plays out is you're supposed to feel glad to see a "familiar" face then it pans out to the Umbrella logo so you're like oh no. A lot of people are speculating that Chris is actually
HUNK
.

The running theory is that it's Hunk, who works for Umbrella. In the game, Ethan contacts Chris via radio and it's either Hunk masquerading as Chris, or Umbrella intercepts the call and at the end Hunk pretends to be Chris, since Ethan talked to him earlier.

What about the VA? I mean i know if they wanted the twist it wouldn't really matter. My friend fucking loves HUNK, for reasons I've never understood, and I think he'll like him appearing. Unless its the weirdest Chris redesign.

Chris's VA lately has been Roger Craig Smith, but in this game is David Vaughn. So either they recast Chris, or it's not him.

Well, I guess if RCS still voice him in the animated movie we may have our answer. I wouldn't put it past Capcom to just have a weird redesign and selective VA change though.

The story dealing with normal people in a sort of normal place being subjected to messed up stuff. At the same time, Mia has kicked off this whole thing to prevent an outbreak from this localized biohazard.

I just keep on popping in to share stuff while avoiding reading the topic.

So if there's one spoiler I don't care about for almost any game, it's unlockables. When I was younger I used to always look-up what unlockables were in a game before I played to see what I would need to do to unlock what and if it seemed worth it.

So I don't know the full set of unlockables, but here are some unlockables I know 100% are in the game. I don't know the unlock conditions for all of these, I know there's a mixture here for beating the game on any difficulty, beating the game on Madhouse, beating the game in under 4 hours (yes, there are apparently unlockables for beating the game in under 4 hours), for shooting every Mr. Everything, and for 100% the game (getting all collectibles on the results screen).

These are not all the unlockables, but these are 100% unlockables in the game, I don't know what unlocks what, but know this game does have unlockables, and these are things you unlock for doing some of the above (though no idea what goes to what).

- Albert-01 : A special gun you unlock.
- Circular Saw : A special weapon you unlock.
- Infinite Fuel Chainsaw : A chainsaw with infinite fuel
- Infinite Ammo : Can be turned on/off, infinite ammo for all firearms
- Quick Shoes : Might not be the actual name, but you can unlock 'shoes' that increase your movement speed.
- Glasses : Has some special name, but glasses you can put on and off that shows you the location of all hidden items.

There may be more unlockables as well, but the above is apparently confirmed about items you unlock in RE7 under different circumstances.

Thanks for the write-up. I didn't know about the infinite ammo, glasses and shoes.

Any idea on how you unlock these things?

Chris has 5 separate VAs listed in the Japanese credits including his regular Japanese va.
