This wouldn't really matter since it is chronologically the first in the series with a remake of the original hitting in summer.

I can understand you're worried if you'll miss the big picture with Yakuza 6 but at least with 0 and Kiwami you're basically there at the beginning of the series.

WOW. I've always wanted to play Yakuza. I remember the very first japanese import review I read here on GAF.


Tell me that the other Yakuza titles will be remade/remastered for PS4? This looks truly excellent.


It's important for me that there are not english voices. I HATE HATE HATE english voice overs in japanese games/anime. It's never good. Besides Cowboy Bebop. That's the only exception!

After watching Mary Kish play this game on Giant Bomb's Unprofessional Friday and then their Quick Look carrying on from that, man. The style and tone of the story has got it's hooks into me, all these years later. Definitely thinking of picking it up which I didn't think I'd be saying a few days ago.

Sega Is Considering Remaking Yakuza 2, 3, 4 and 5 for PS4

Yakuza Kiwami was already considered to have sold well in Japan itself, if Yakuza 0's western release is a decent sales success, it could be the perfect time to greenlight it. Seeing as 0 may end up being the first Yakuza game for quite a few people.

Considering all the games take place in the same place, wouldn't it be very easy to remake all these games using Yakuza 0's (or 6's) assets?

Actually, each game has a bunch of new settings and characters and there are a ton of side characters so they would need to remake everyone with new character models and assets. Some characters like Haruka ages between installments as well. The combat is also different so they need to work around that too. Not that simple.

Introducing new physics and engine dependencies which would need a design and balance overhaul. Its a lot of work... you think that this kind of remakes should be easy, but they require time and money. At least to make them worthwhile.

I really hope they remake Y2 at least. I think it still holds up as being the best in the series. Best bad guy.
