Where, oh where, is the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller?

Depends on how rigid the D-pad is. All 4-way D-pads are just a cross that presses four buttons/contacts beneath it. Now, if they use a spongy, silicon material.... Or if the buttons beneath are spongy... That's a deal breaker.

Yup. I wonder if the official one will have a clicky D-Pad, would be a first for a Nintendo console.

I liked how the Xbox One controller's D-Pad used metal domes underneath.

Just checked Target.com. They don't have it for pre-order yet, but they have added some new items that weren't there last week like a set of red controllers, straps, a carrying case etc.

I check every single day on Target, Wal-Mart, Newegg, Amazon, and Best Buy - no luck.

I really want this controller on launch day so I can play Zelda with it. I just don't want to use the joycons.

So how the fuck has no one found out why the pro controller isn't available for pre order in the US?
I'm mentally preparing myself for the possibility that I'll have to get to GameStop early on Launch Day in order to have a shot of grabbing one of these.

I'm guessing Nintendo hasn't given retailers a sku or allocations of how many they will be giving them.

I just find it crazy that even individual left and right joy cons are up, the straps are up, even the Zelda amiibo are up at Best Buy, the most important accessory is completely MIA.

It sure seems to me like a delay past March 3rd but I just can't believe Nintendo is allowed to get away with shit like that.

According to some of the people who played it at the events last week, it doesn't feel all that different than using the joycons in the grip (apart from the bigger buttons).

Not even sure it's worth it for me. I think I'd rather buy two more joycons and a grip (that way I can play 4 player if need be, or if two players we each get a dope controller).

I don't think it will get delayed. Probably just be scarce and not have preorders and just be first come first serve.

I preordered a charging grip as a backup, but now I'm starting to lean toward just keeping that and saving the $40 extra for the pro controller for now anyway. I'd probably waffle if it does go up for preorder though, as I guess I would prefer to leave the joycons on the table for quick switching. Definitely not going out looking for one on the third though. Opted for delivery from Best Buy to avoid that hassle.

those big ol buttons

dat dpad

this controller has the potential to be the GOAT especially since I can play Splatoon with gyro-assisted aim

The only thing it's missing really is analogue triggers. Still, I'm going to wait and see how I like the grip at first. This thing is the price of a game, or more even.

I hate the translucent plastic on the front. Makes the controller just look cheap to me. Also not sold on the form factor quite yet. I wish they just stuck the new tech into a Wii U Pro Controller. If it ain't broke...

Wait, that's translucent plastic?! I was looking at it completely wrong and thought the shapes were embossed patterns… Please tell me I wasn't alone

The only problem with the pro controller is that it doesn't come in multiple colors like the n64 controller. I love the transparent plastic. Way to underused today.

Quoting myself from the Amazon thread, for anyone who wants a slightly cheaper pro pad.

There is a discount code to get 10% off at Zavvi - 10745-0D1C-46AC. Not as good as the Amazon one but I just got my order in for a pro controller for £53.99 - I haven't been able to find it cheaper than that (I'd have blatantly used the Amazon code on it if it was orderable!). Hopefully Yodel won't use it as a football before they deliver it!

I read the same thing, plus some said that the joycon grip felt better or just as good as the pro. I'll save my money.

I'm sure other colors will come eventually.

That will depend on whether it sells well or not. We didn't get a bunch of color options for Wii U pro controllers for instance.

If most people are going with JoyCons/grip, the current pro controller may never get more options.

I'm a digi trigger kind of guy. I don't play any sim racing games but I do play a lot of games where a binary trigger input is beneficial.

The Wii-U Pro controller should just be compatible, it's the best.

if it had a gyro and accelerometer inside it really would be. alas the Switch Pro is coming for the crown.

No gyro though, so wouldn't work with games like Splatoon 2. No HD rumble either, but I doubt that will be essential to any games other than ones like 1 2 Switch that you play with individual joy cons (or one in each hand).

Would have been nice to have support at least for VC games and stuff though. Lack of dpad on the joycons is a killer for 2D VC games for people who don't want to shell out $70 for a pro controller.

It would be nice if VC games and games like Ultra SFII supported the Wii U Pro controller and controllers hooked up to a Wiimote. That way you could use Wii/Wii U arcade sticks and NES Classic controllers.

Just preorderd the Pro Controller through Amazon. com/JP. It cost me a little over 72.00 to ship to US. LOL. I called my bank and made sure they didn't mark it as fraud so it wouldn't lock out my bank account too. Hope this works. :)

I also preordered from Amazon JPN just in case US sells out quickly.

Lol, I struggled through registration on Amazon Japan with the help of Android and Google translation and it actually worked.

Edit-I did this on my phone originally, but now I am on my computer and I noticed that there is an actual English language option directly on Amazon Japans website. Cool.

If anyone wants to be adventurous and order through Amazon. com/JP

Here is Pro Controller search term:

Nintendo Switch Proコントローラー: ゲーム

When I preordered it. It was around 6900 Yen. Now its up to 7500 Yen.

Did the same. Done playing games. Want to play Zelda with the Pro asap and have a feeling we won't see these hit the US for months.

Are wii u remotes compatible with the switch? I'm hoping not, I'm just wondering why the prices haven't dropped yet.

Ugh, I'd order it from amiami or amazon JP if I knew for sure we weren't getting it at launch... but I'm hesitant to jump on it because of the wait and added cost in the event it actually does show up here soon...

I know exactly what you mean.. I still feel like being patient until pre-orders go up in US is the best option. And the only thing I grabbed from AmiAmi was the Zelda and horse Link amiibo as those aren't region locked at all(bought Mewtwo from AmiAmi for Sm4sh) and I don't really mind getting those late.

From the way this is designed, with the two grips being textured differently from the main body, I wonder if the Pro controller has 2 sets of HD Rumble, one in each grip, thus perfectly emulating the two Joycons.

Has this been confirmed?

Do we have any statements or clues about the availability of these at launch? Like, might you be able to grab one from a GameStop or Best Buy day one, or not a chance in hell?

How can people say this with such confidence? I'm holding off on this controller. The joy cons with grip could feel just fine to great, why would I need a pro if the joy cons did the job? Also I'm as hell not carrying that controller around on the go so it seems pointless.

Many of us hate tiny buttons. You don't have to use the Joycon to know that if you hate tiny buttons, you're going to hate playing with those versus the Pro with has a real dpad and large buttons.
