Promised Neverland

Wow okay. So much in this chapter to digest/talk about but holy crap that was good. Definitely a high point for the series so far

Prison School - 241 (Raw)

It's finally over, thank god! That arc went on too long, way too long.

I'm interested in what Hana is up to now though considering she's acting as the inbetween for Chiyo and Kiyoshi. That smile at the end was uhm...pretty but devilish at the same time.

Thats good to hear. I've been putting off reading it because the current arc has just been dragging on.

Sousei no Onmyouji 1 - 9

Just started reading this. Its about young exorcists doing common exorcist type things. The story is starting to get interesting, and the story seems to involve everyones past a good bit.

i started this like a year or two ago and dropped it. started it up again recently because i was like, fuck it, i want a weird pervy romance. it's kind of like a tamer nana to kaoru in that it revolves mainly around these two characters who share a pervy secret, but unlike ntk it involves a) initially blackmail, b) there's not as much exploration in the head of the female lead who can come off as a bit manic pixie girl, and c) the author is super afraid to really resolve any situation with much growth that doesn't inexplicably reset by the time of the next arc.

I like it kind of despite itself. the art is clean, the characters are over-the-top but still kinda believable, and it's just overall kind of pure in the weird warped way that borderline ero can be (you kinda start just glazing over whenever you nearly see a boob at some point, it happens so frequently). I really like the female lead who comes off as both really in command and totally lost in equal measure. No real points to hapless male lead who is standard hapless male lead.

I think the main thing I don't really like though is the aforementioned lack of progression, and also the author's tendency to make up one-off characters for arcs who then don't get seen again for chapters on end. That sort of stopped happening once the MCs moved from first year to second year and the author actually decided to have some side characters hang around for a bit, but it's a bit bloody late for that imho.

Also, there was one arc that was super dramatic and actually got me about the girl moving away but not mentioning anything to the guy and I was totally into the mystery but then it totally fell flat at the end and that wasn't cool.

anyway, mangaf, i demand more pervy romance that is equal parts romance to perv. (but not prison school, i bounced off that already)

Wait Jinto you should read A Girl by the Sea if you haven't.

New Dowman Sayman manga series beginning in the most Dowman Sayman way.

Another collection of single-chapter stories in the vein of Nickelodeon and Hydrogen Bomb War. His knack for creating mind-bending yet engaging stories in such a small capacity hasn't seemed to slow down and some of the subject matter portrayed remains as unsettling as ever at times. He's definitely one of a kind when it comes to this medium.

Daidai wa, Hantoumei ni Nidonesuru (Daidai Town's Uncommon Daily Life) 1-12

On the topic of short story series, I wanted to mention this one again since there's been more chapters translated recently. Every chapter takes place in this weird little port-town and focuses on certain inhabitants with a few recurring characters showing up here and there. The setting may be very normal but every story told is surreal, with the narrative sometimes leaving the reader wondering if what just transpired was truly "real" or not. There's a lot of dark comedy in most of the stories with much of them having a pretty depressing yet sobering conclusion. Several stories contain some pretty unsettling and grim scenarios that when taken at face value, may be somewhat off putting, yet it's all portrayed in such a surreal (and sometimes comical) way that I just find it all very compelling. A common theme I've noticed not only here but in Yoichi's other series, Chimoguri Ringo, is the constant portrayal of water and undersea life. With the setting taking place in a small port-town, he uses that to his advantage to draw underwater life whenever he can and it always looks great.

I'm starting to wonder in Promised Neverland if the kids escape attempt is gonna fail and the only one who'll survive is Emma as she takes part in an arc to become a mom.

Huge Nickleback Fan

That is a fucking exce-

...nani?

Fucking Fire Punch, a manga that is attempting to everything in it's power to win the edgelord crown and I hate it so much because of that.

Fire Punch is pure insanity and LSD packed in manga form. I can't really say it's a good manga but there's something about this manga that doesn't feel like your usual edgelord manga. I have no idea if the story is edgelord the manga or making fun of edgelord manga. Kinda like the lost vilage anime. I think in the earlier chapter the author is genuinely trying to write good manga, but somewhere along the way he turn it into so bad it's good, and i have no idea if he done it on purpose or not

Btw, as for the winner, i wish dungeon meshi or kuutei dragon win taisho award. Karakai juuzo and hi score girl are great, but i doubt its going to win

Kako and the False Detective 1
Supernatural mystery solving shenanigans from the Princess Resurrection author. Sadly there're no chainsaws, but we get a creepy cute spiritual heroine to make up for it. I don't have much faith in the author after PR fell apart towards the end, but this first chapter was a decent read and I'm a sucker for ghost girls/mysteries, so followed.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san 47

Obligatory "hottest girl in the school wants MC" harem trope in full force.

At the very least you can vaguely justify it in that Kogarashi isn't nearly as lame as Rito is since he has magic powers and is good at everything thanks to ghostly possession. Maybe he was once possessed by the spirit of a chick magnet.

VIZ JUMP

My Hero is the best chapter of the week
Like always.
With Deku looking as badass as always.

Black Clover makes me realize once again just how built Asta is! I mean damn! Looking good there Asta.

The Promised neverland chapter felt kid of rushed? It didn't do much for me. The Lead color page looked awesome though.

Skipped RWBY

The Black Clover interview was really nice

The one-shot Toki Doki! Holy shit! they succeeded in making me cry in 60 pages! Bravo! I never saw it coming.

Nisekyu was fun as heck.

I really hope VIZ has something as big as they say, because if next week they really only have Boruto it's going to be awful on the length side.

Why doesn't US Jump just pick up whatever Japan Jump has? Japanese Jump seems okay with cancelling shit if it sucks, so I don't get why US Jump can't do the same thing and just call it a day.

Too cheap? Plus if something takes off over here and not in Japan a cancellation might not look good. Unless they're actually willing to pick the series up, which would actually be good.

Licensing cost I believe is the main reason.

Viz Jump 1/23

The Promised Neverland

Already read it yesterday but picked up more detail and was even further appreciate of how amazing this chapter was. I wonder if the scientist dude is william minerva or if he's a sympathizer passing along the messages. Khrone was the perfect jobber in that she completely crushed the kids at the last moment only to turn around and be crushed by Mom and Grandma truly showing just how outclasses the kids are.

Food Wars Shokugeki no Soma

The flash back was a much needed explanation for what exactly Azami wants and why he wants it. I wish they had better established Azami earlier during this arc since his plan in a vacuum just seemed strange and hard to follow.

My Hero Academia

Not really surprised the big 3 are all super weird, I'm more curious about All Might when he inevitably explains why he passed on pip boy for Deku as his successor.

Black Clover

Glad this guy wasn't beaten that easily, but of course it sets up a scenario where even MORE characters are completely useless so Asta can save the day again.

RWBY

Yu gi oh arc v

This manga makes me kick myself for not being caught up with the anime since I really liked this world and characters. Chapter itself was mostly set up for things to come with a rather unsatisfying ending to the duel hyped through the whole series up till now.

Nisekyu

I'd probably appreciate this more if I read Haikyu, seemed like an alright cross over if you like both properties (fuck Nisekoi that shit sucked)

A fault in our stars manga adaptation

Called that the dude was gonna die first the moment the story revealed the girl had a timer on her life. Cliche love story but effective in the story it was telling as the leads were both fairly likable and their relationship felt genuine.

They have to pay an upfront licensing cost of some amount. Not analagous at all to the way that Jump runs as a magazine in Japan

I like how YGO ARC V manga does things, the different feeling works for Shinuni Sora (though he was always epic in the anime, best), as well as how the different Sakaki Yuuya personas are in him versus being separate characters. Yuuzu oneechan is hilarious though I like her more with Sora as his apprentice (and actually the best of the non BL YGO ships of this gen, up there with RetributionShipping via YGO 5DS IMO)

Golem Hearts (One Shot): A neat little one shot about a world filled with golems and a boy wanting to be 'the second best golem creator' in the world. Nothing too deep or innovative but it does what it does really quite well. Would happily read more.

ReLife

This arc sucks and they keep fucking dragging whatever Ohga's problem is. Just resolve this shit and go back to Arata and Hishiron because we already can guess its just misunderstanding shit.

Tomo-chan wa Onna no ko! ch483

The new generation has Carol, which makes it better, but also has Jun, which makes it way worse.

Hmmm.

Kingdom ch503

With such a king I guess the outcome has already been decided. (Aside from History itself of course.)

Takane no Hana nara Ochitekoi!! ch8

At least he has a clearer goal now, even if surpassing her is still pretty much impossible.

Minamoto-kun Monogatari ch201

Still taking his merry time.

Understandable. Prison School was pretty high on my list of manga to get a complete set of down the road, but after that arc I'll settle for the first dozen volumes at most. Maybe it can start on a road to redemption now.

Young Tomomom has such a stoned look.

Is there anything that Kogarashi is even bad at? I mean he can do pretty much everything and every girl wants him.

I found this chapter to be really weird. The last chapter was a great setup and now this chapter took it all away. It's like a completely different direction.

B Group no Shonen X 1

Why does this manga exist? I like the art better than the first B Group no Shonen manga but the storytelling is terrible. It's jumping all over the place. Terrible transitions and pacing. Did the first manga adaptation end already?

That WAS the point

2 chapters ago we established how even Khrone who the kids/audience didn't take seriously was actually a legit threat and way above the kids only to turn around and realize Khrone herself is way below Mom and Grandma. Its completely for the audience to show how completely outclasses the kids are by Mom and the system.
